FFXIV Dawntrail release date window, trailers, jobs, story, and more

When is the FFXIV Dawntrail release date? FFXIV 7.0 will be the fifth major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV since its A Realm Reborn relaunch. The critically acclaimed MMORPG delivers one of the most richly designed worlds to explore, telling finely crafted, character-led stories that can bring you to joy or devastation. While it's great with friends or other players online, FFXIV can be played entirely solo as well, letting you enjoy it however you like.

FFXIV Dawntrail is the upcoming expansion for the hugely successful MMORPG developed by Square Enix. Unlike most of the other entries in the Final Fantasy series, which are predominantly single-player RPG games, FFXIV is an online multiplayer world frequented by millions of players, and has been growing ever since its launch in 2013. Here's a first look at Dawntrail, including everything we know about the setting and story, as well as the new jobs, graphics update, and the FFXIV Dawntrail release date.

FFXIV Moonfire Faire 2023 splits opinion with an unexpected twist

Final Fantasy XIV director wants playable Pixel Remasters in the MMO

Final Fantasy 14's Moonfire Faire says goodbye swimsuits, hello Power Rangers

Final Fantasy 14 will once again celebrate the Moonfire Faire as its summer event, though this time the reward is a bit different from normal.

Over the years, the Moonfire Faire hasn't always offered swimsuits, but it is generally typical of the seasonal event, considering it happens every summer. You still get a new cosmetic suit once you complete whatever quests lie in wait for you, but this time it's something that Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai fans are more likely to be excited about. "We hope you're not allergic to sunshine: the Moonfire Faire is returning to FFXIV on August 10!" reads a tweet announcing the event. "What mission awaits the Phoenix Risers…?"

I don't know about you, but "Phoenix Risers," certainly sounds like a cheesy enough name for some kind of over the top team of heroes, but there isn't really much information about the event available just yet. It's only a few days away though, as noted in the tweet, so it won't be long until we find out what's in store for us.

Want to skip straight to Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail? Square Enix might let you

Dawntrail marks a new beginning for Final Fantasy 14, which has left producer Naoki Yoshida wondering if he should just let everyone skip all the other expansions.

Final Fantasy 14 is obviously a massive game (its genre tells us as much), and with the next expansion in the series, Dawntrail, being the first that will start a new story arc, it would make sense if new players just wanted to skip straight to it. In a new interview with Famitsu (translations by aitaikimochi), Yoshida, otherwise known as Yoshi-P, spoke on the possibility of introducing systems that let players more easily skip expansions in order to catch up to the newest one.

According to Yoshi-P, the Final Fantasy 14 team has prepared some new in-game features that will let you read lore and background of the characters and world up to the end of Endwalker, or patch 6.0. If you did decide to skip all of that, you would have to play from patch 6.1, leading you up to Dawntrail, which will be patch 7.0.
