FFXIV 6.5 is coming in early October and, while we might be waiting a while longer to get our hands on the next full expansion, FFXIV Dawntrail, the next major Final Fantasy XIV update is already delivering on some big requests from the playerbase. Hosting FFXIV Live Letter 78 live on stage at the massive Fan Fest event to celebrate the world's biggest and best MMORPG, game director Naoki Yoshida and community producer Toshio Murouchi detail everything we can expect from FFXIV patch 6.5 as we build towards the Dawntrail release date in summer 2024.

Final Fantasy 14’s fifth expansion has a name, a (rough) release date and a first look at what seems to be a notable shift in tone from the apocalyptic climax of Endwalker. Final Fantasy XIV is a timeless MMORPG masterpiece, and its high status within the gaming community has a lot to do with how active Square Enix has been in improving the game and releasing updates. The developers take feedback very seriously, and it doesn't look as though the FFXIV hype will slow down any time soon. One of the biggest Final Fantasy XIV events is currently taking place, the Fan Festival 2023, with devs dropping a massive FFXIV reveal. We now know the premise of the 7.0 expansion patch, its title, and its general release date.

Final Fantasy XIV has been my favorite MMORPG since I first played it back in 2017. Many fans have been around even longer, with some active in-game since Square Enix first launched it over a decade ago. A core Final Fantasy XIV memory for me is my first Fan Festival and the opportunity it gave me to meet my Free Company friends in real life. Not only does FFXIV's global event offer a chance for players to come together, but it also generally includes fun new optional items such as emotes, glamour pieces, minions, mounts, and more.
