FF14 Dawntrail review - Kicking open the door to an exciting new era

Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail has a tough act to follow. The previous FF14 expansion, Endwalker, managed to largely stick the landing on a ten-year story arc, and that in turn followed on from its most-lauded story to date in Shadowbringers. While endings are hard, new beginnings can be even more challenging. Yet in Dawntrail, Square Enix manages to deliver a story that's both powerful and emotional - if a little corny at times - and, perhaps more importantly, an overall experience that leaves me excited for the future of the MMORPG.

FF14 Dawntrail's new area, Tural, is a sprawling one, filled with many cultures, a variety of yummy foods, and plenty of sights to see. Hidden away on the docks of Tuliyollal, there is one small figure waiting among the busy markets of Tural, and they have sensed that there are hungry bellies throughout the land that begged to be filled. All FF14 Dawntrail Aether Current locations

Where are the FF14 Dawntrail Aether Currents? The in-game compass only works so well, and while many players enjoy finding them on their own, they can be a pain to locate. Some of them look accessible from one location but really require a completely different route. Whether the current is as simple as strolling up to it or at the top of what could be considered a jumping puzzle, we've got you covered, and you'll be flying in Tural in no time.

Each of these FF14 Dawntrail Aether Current locations are broken down by zone. Just like the Endwalker Aether Currents, there are six new zones in Dawntrail, each of which will have 10 overworld Aether Currents for you to attune to, and five quests that give them, totaling 15 currents for each zone in the MMO game's latest expansion.

Final Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail expansion has only been out a few days, and one of its new jobs is already being adjusted

Dawntrail, the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, has officially been out just three days, arriving earlier this week after a brief early access release. Despite its story and extra 10 levels spanning dozens of hours of playtime, that’s apparently been ample time for players to complain loudly enough about one of the expansion’s brand new jobs - so much so that Square Enix have already announced a set of incoming changes planned across the game’s next run of patches.

By all accounts, the FF14 Dawntrail launch has been far smoother than Endwalker. Aside from day one, I've had almost no login queues at any time of day, and the overall experience has been pretty smooth. However, it wasn't without flaws, and due to issues on both console versions Square Enix is preparing to hand out free game time for Final Fantasy 14 to all players with a subscription, regardless of which platform you play on.
