FFXIV gets butt-buffing pants and dance poles

Final Fantasy XIV's latest update has landed, and the 6.05 patch notes introduce a selection of job changes alongside new content like the Savage Pandaemonium raid. But there are a few, erm, unadvertised additions in 6.05, too, including pants that make your butt more shapely and a pole. Like, you know, the kind of pole you dance on.

The patch notes do say that "new prizes are available for purchase using MGP", but it's actually just one item: the dance pole, a furnishing item. As the description notes, "even seasoned adventurers may find that sensually swivelling upon this pole proves a challenge to their balance and brawn alike". Sadly, it seems you can't actually interact with the pole, but I guess you can always do a /beesknees near it.

Then there are the hose of happiness, a new craftable set of pants that add a bit of volume to your character's butt. There are a number of clothing items in FFXIV that make subtle adjustments to your character model, but it's especially pronounced here - the effect is basically the same as the 2B leggings, just without requiring you to run around in a thong. And, fabulously, it appears the butt buff applies to male characters, too.

Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.05 buffs some DPS classes, slightly nerfs Reaper

Following some maintenance, Final Fantasy XIV's new patch is here, ushering in the Savage difficulty version of the new Pandæmonium: Asphodelos raid. Before you and your party set out to get wiped in battle repeatedly, though, you may want to take note of some tweaks to various FFXIV DPS jobs.

Some of the more notable changes have come to the Ninja class. Fleeting Raiju has been changed to a melee-range attack from a gap closer, so the striking distance has been greatly reduced though the attack potency has been increased to 560 from 450 to compensate. Forked Raiju is still here, though it's a separate action instead of a combo move, and the attack power has also been increased to 560. So how will this work in full flow? Now when you use Raiton, you'll be 'Raiju Ready' instead of 'Forked Raiju Ready', so you can start with whatever attack you fancy. The status effect duration has also been increased to 30 seconds from 15, so go wild, shinobi.

You'll also find that using Phantom Kamaitachi no longer uses a stack of Bunshin, and the increase to Ninki Gauge has been changed from ten to five. The 'Phantom Kamaitachi Ready' status effect will no longer expire when the effect of Bunshin ends, instead lasting for 45 seconds.

Final Fantasy XIV 6.05 release time - FFXIV goes down for five hours of maintenance tonight

If you're planning on playing some Final Fantasy XIV this evening, you'll want to get in early. FFXIV is going down for five hours of maintenance tonight in order to prep the way for patch 6.05 release time. It's a pretty minor patch in terms of new content, but it will bring us access to the savage tier of the Pandeamonium raid, a new treasure hunt instance, and new gear to collect.

FFXIV goes down for maintenance at 9pm PST on January 3, or 12am EST / 5am GMT on January 4. Servers will remain down for five hours, and you'll be able to log back in for the new patch starting at 2am PST / 5am EST / 10am GMT. The Lodestone site will also go down shortly after the game servers, returning alongside FFXIV itself.

Besides the savage version of Pandaemonium, patch 6.05 will also feature the Excitatron 6000 treasure hunt instance, new Allagan tomestones to collect, and new gear. In past expansion cycles, x.05 patch releases have also typically included an array of job balance changes, so it's likely we'll see the same here.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker review: a stellar expansion that will leave fans over the moon

Right now Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is so popular you can’t buy it anymore. To prevent overcrowding and crashing servers, Square Enix have had to halt free trials and new sales to keep the game stable after an unprecedented surge in popularity this summer. Between that and the global shortage of materials to add more servers, it may be quite some time until new players are able to experience it. If you have an active subscription and manage to brave the long queues however, you’re one of the lucky few who get to experience something truly special. For everyone else: hang in there, it will be worth the wait.
