New alien units: Berserk, Cyclops



This is new alien units which are already available in the game:

Berserk



Alien Berserk is designed for breakthrough in battle. It is armed with a powerful impulse generator, four glowing blades and able to move around on land and on the seabed. Berserks are effective in the fight against infantry and armored vehicles but are useless against enemy aircraft.

Cyclops



This class of anti-air combat droids is designed for long range attack by launching multiple guided missiles.

I just created and added this units to the game, so they probably changed the gameplay balance. But I hope to fix that with your advices.

New Armored Units

This is 3 new heavily armored units which I made for humans faction: Tank-drone, MLRS artillery and Anti-aircraft defensive system. They are all based on amphibious undercarriage but have a very different features and combat assignments.

Tank Drone



Tank Drone is an unmanned, heavily armored fighting vehicle with a rail cannon that is designed for front-line combat. This unit is effective against large armored targets but not effective against infantry, due to the low rate of its weapon.

Artillery MLRS System



This is an armored, self-propelled, multiple rocket launcher. This type of rocket artillery is designed to destroy enemy buildings at a very long distance. Сommander must set the attack coordinates directly in the artillery mode to start artillery strike. It cannot attack the enemy in close combat, so it is recommended to use them together with a group of tanks or infantry.

Drone Defender (anti-air and anti-infantry system)



Drone Defender is a powerful unmanned, anti-air and anti-infantry vehicle with x4 rapid-firing guns.

Tank and Anti-air system can be created in the Vehicle Dept., but Artillery must be created aboard the ARK only.

New buildings, AI allies, New multiplayer interface

New building: Charging Station



Charging Station used to recover energy level in the Avatar's batteries by forcing directed energy beam current through it. Since it does not require any physical contact, it may be useful to charge Combat Avatars right on the battlefield.
Note: Charging Station doesn’t work if enemies are too close.

Allies Avatars in Skirmish mode

Lately I received many requests for allies AI Avatars in the skirmish mode.
Now you can add to your team 1-2 Combat Avatars which will be completely driven by AI.

New multiplayer interface

Is no longer necessary to connect using the IP address. You can easily join to existing matches (if available) in one click. Or create your own PvP or CoOp game and make it private using password.
Legacy LAN game is still available if you prefer manual connection.

New map ‘Winter Storm’, environment test



I worked hard to deliver this update and provide you with some snow in the game during this winter holidays:

This is a new game map 'Winter Storm' on which I'm currently working. This large spacious game level has a lot of flat surfaces for base development and battles. It is not completely finished yet, it is just a test of winter environment. But you already can feel its frozen atmosphere. Hope you will enjoy it!





Other updates:
- Now you can connect new Energy Sources to the selected Energy Source even if all its nodes are already used.
- Defensive shield on start. If you have chosen starting state 'Grounded ARK' - defensive shield will protect your and enemy base within 60 seconds. So you will have a bit of time at the start to customize your avatar and build your base safe. After that it will be disabled.
- New soundtracks
- Some balance changes
- A lot of bug fixing + adding new bugs :)

New combat avatar: T-Raptor, New video



New combat avatar: T-Raptor

This is prototype of new combat avatar on which I'm working now:
T-Raptor is the most universal heavy assault drone that has the most diverse set of abilities and weapons. The main purpose of T-Raptor is to act on the ground. However, it also may effectively fight in the air and even underwater, but not for long time. Its energy weapon consumes a lot of energy, but T-Raptor can use a melee weapons in close fight if level of energy is low.





How will the T-Raptor play different from the Corsair? Corsair has only long range weapons so it was almost useless in close fight. But T-Raptor has in addition 2 kind of melee attacks + directed-energy weapon. For easier action in melee it has little different controls (especially turns & strafe) and appropriate set of animations. So, it is more universal combat avatar.

The development


Currently, it is still in progress, in playable prototype stage. So it is temporary unbalanced and may have some bugs, because I'm just recently finished work on T-Raptors artistic component. Check official development thread to see the process of creation: http://warshift.com/forum/2-305-1

- Now you can start creating Units, Buildings and Airstrikes in one click on the unit’s icon.
- Changing camera position: you can choose position between 3 points using mouse wheel (currently available only for T-Raptor and Corsair). Zoom/Sight via right mouse button is available as well.

T-Raptor Gameplay tactict and strategy (Tips and Hints video)

This helpful video I made while testing of T-Raptor, in order to clarify its combat tactics and some aspects of the general strategy gameplay. This short let’s play shows some HINTS: how new combat avatar can win match without a lot of units or buildings, but using an interesting tactics and stratagem: changing position of the base for better logistics. Because military logistics playing one of the main roles in this game. This quick gameplay mostly focused on T-Raptor, Dreadnought and aircraft usage.
