Harvest Days is Stardew Valley, but open-world

See that farm? You can go there. Okay, sure, open-world games aren't quite so novel as they once were, but the lineage of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Stardew Valley-style farming RPGs has typically stuck to more limited worlds, despite the open-ended nature of the gameplay. Harvest Days aims to bring more of that spirit of exploration to farming life.

Harvest Days gives you a farm plot and tasks you with restoring the sleepy town of Duda's Village to its former glory. You'll manage crops and raise animals to get your farm going, and build houses and businesses in the town to attract new residents. You'll build relationships with the villagers, go fishing - you know, all the stuff you'd expect from this type of game.

The unique gimmick for Harvest Days is its open world, which gives you everything from a forest and swamp to a temple ruin and dungeons to explore. There are trucks to drive around, and other farm vehicles you can use to speed up the harvest.

Stardew Valley mod makes finding the last fish you need for your bundle much easier

Like most fishing minigames, fishing in Stardew Valley is controversial. Not everyone cares for the vanilla experience, the little tap-tap-bounce to try and reel one in—finding it finicky, frustrating, or just plain boring. There are a number of mods that make fishing easier or skip it altogether, but even for those who like the fishing experience, it can't be disputed that finding the right fish, when you just want to help Jody make a fish casserole for dinner or fill out a bundle, can sometimes become a bit of an errand...

Stardew Valley fans are very excited about transferring boot stats

What a week for discoveries. A load of Skyrim fans have only just realised that you can skip the fantasy game's lengthy mining animation, and now the Stardew Valley community is having its own big 'TIL' moment. This time, it's all about transferring stats between booties.

"Today I learned that you can transfer stats between footwear," Stardew fan eggbynch posts on the farming game's subreddit. "So I didn't have to be wearing bright blue mermaid shoes or bright purple space boots all this time? I'm on year six and just figured this out," they explain, joking that they're, er, kind of upset about the discovery. Their post includes images demonstrating the feature, which it seems has let them transfer the added defence and immunity buffs from a pair of custom-made tailored leather boots to some (also custom-made) tundra ones.

The post has already amassed a whopping 9,900 upvotes as of this story, and the comments are chock-full of other players also just discovering this nifty trick now. "I learned this from reading your post if that makes you feel any better," user Tarilyn13 says, and that reply alone has got 3.9k upvotes from others clearly having the same 'TIL' moment. There are a whole bunch of other similar comments, too.

This Stardew Valley mod adds a missing persons mystery to solve

Stardew Valley players add heaps of cool titbits to the chill game to keep it fresh. Now and then, though, you get a larger mod that adds something akin to new DLC. One of the most recent slices of new content to catch our eye is a mod that adds two NPCs to meet, new items, events, and a mystery for you to solve.

FellowClown's Magical Family mod brings Valerie to Pelican Town, who slowly uncovers the mystery behind a citizen's disappearance. But, unfortunately, she is soon interrupted by her mother, Dezerie, who inserts herself into Valerie's life and disrupts her goals as a spiritual element expert.

The mod also features oodles of mystery events that alter the course of the plot if you complete them all. One of them involves going to the wizard's house at a particular time after finding a secret note within the town's forest. After that, you can join Valerie in the saloon to advance the quest if you have one heart with her. If you want to know where it goes from there, you'll have to download the mod.
