A Stardew Valley player is recreating recipes on TikTok

Food is one of the more important parts of Stardew Valley. Managing your energy levels in the chill farming simulator is central to the game's appeal of growing in harmony with your limits, and taking the time to cook a hearty meal pays off with more stamina than munching down a slab of corn. But what if you actually tried to cook Stardew Valley's meals in real life? It's more complicated than you might think.

TikTok user The Queen of Sauce, or Ali, has already created 30 of Stardew Valley's food offerings, with another 50 to go. Speaking to GamesRadar, though, she reveals that the most challenging part so far isn't the sheer amount of recipes there are, but that some ingredients just don't exist, while others don't go together.

Ali reveals that the Strange Buns have been the most challenging dish for her to recreate for those reasons. You've got to make them with periwinkle and void mayonnaise, and the latter doesn't really exist. The TikToker also has plans to re-imagine the recipe in time for Halloween to give it a much sweeter taste.

This Stardew Valley mod gives you an old abandoned school to fix up

A big theme of Stardew Valley is rebuilding. You come to Pelican Town not just to fix up your grandfather's old farm, but to rebuild your life into something more fulfilling and meaningful. Stardew Valley is, however, more than five years old. While the game gets an update here and there to keep it fresh, we like to check out what the modding community is getting up to keep the game vibrant.

One of the more recent mods to capture our eye is xiddav's Little Red School House mod, which is also about rebuilding. This one adds an old, broken school to Pelican Town, which you can find near the playground. You'll need to take fixing it up into your own hands, though, by fulfilling the special orders board. You'll notice a woodpile near the ruined school, which is where you'll want to take the items needed for the special order.

Once the school is complete, it'll hum with life. Penny, Jas, and Vincent will attend, though you won't see Leo just yet. Xiddav explains that they haven't met Leo in-game yet, so they don't want to spoil anything for themselves, which is fair! Oh, and perhaps most importantly, there's a class hamster called Russel.

Stardew Valley player introduces gladiatorial combat to the chill farming sim

Stardew Valley is a chill game about farming and learning to grow within your limits. It's only natural, then, that a modder adds a pinch of chaos every now and then. We once reported on a mod that adds a horde mode with homicidal scarecrows, but the most recent fan-made addition to catch our eye is more about arena-based combat.

XxHarvzBackxX's Arena Challenges mod introduces a new location where you can go to defeat monsters for rewards - are you not entertained? The challenges range in difficulty but you'll be rewarded for your time and effort.

The modder explains that you can find the arena by heading to a door in the mines. Once you enter, you'll be brought to a lobby of sorts. There you'll see a chap at a desk who will whisk you away to the arena after asking a slew of questions. If you complete the challenge, you'll get a reward that's proportional to the difficulty you selected. The modder doesn't give much away about what prizes are on offer, though they're "very valuable".

Stardew Valley has sold 15 million copies, including five million in the past two years

September 8, 2021 Stardew Valley has reached 15 million units sold.

Stardew Valley sales have reached yet another massive milestone, as the farming RPG has surpassed 15 million copies sold. That's impressive enough, but perhaps the most notable part is that the game's success has not slowed down a bit - in fact, thanks to its continued releases on a wide variety of platforms, Stardew Valley has sold more in the last two years than any point before.

PC players got Stardew Valley on February 26, 2016. The game was an instant hit, and sold one million copies in the space of two months. Console versions followed in late 2016, and the Switch port landed in October 2017. By January 2018, SuperData reported that the game had sold 3.5 million copies (via GamesBeat) - and that's before the iOS port launched later the same year.

In January 2020, the official site was been updated to report that Stardew Valley has sold 10 million copies worldwide. Now, a year later, it's been updated again to report 15 million units sold. Once again, my childhood obsession with Harvest Moon 64 has been vindicated - yes, the world has at last seen that farming RPG games are good, actually.
