Racing against the clock | Dev Blog #2

Hey Runagades,
Gary D. Tour here again, back with another peek at life in Sprint City.
[p]Today I want to introduce you to one of the most well-known (and most nerve-wracking) game modes Sprint City has to offer: Clockout![/p][p]It’s a racing mode unique to Sprint City, which mixes checkpoint time trials, with knockouts, with battle royale. I’m not kidding![/p]

[p][/p]
So, how does Clockout work?
[p]Every Runagade starts a Clockout race with a 10-second timer.[/p][p]As soon as the first player completes the first lap, everyone else’s timer immediately starts counting down. When you cross the finish line, whatever time you have left on your clock is what you carry into the next lap. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Lap after lap, the pressure builds. Timers get tighter. Mistakes get expensive. When a Runagade’s clock hits zero, they’re out! Simple as that.[/p][p]The race continues until only one runner remains.[/p][p][/p]

[p][/p]
Where do you start?
[p]I can tell by the way you’re reading this, you’re already itching to try it yourself.[/p][p]Clockout races (and other organized sprinting events) are started through Sprint City’s yellow kiosks, scattered all across the city. Walk up to one, interact, and a menu will pop up letting you choose what you want to jump into.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Got a crew with you? Perfect. Start a Clockout race and pull them in so you can settle, once and for all, who’s actually the fastest.[/p][p]Running solo? That works too. Just open the main menu and select “Find a Race.” You'll be dropped straight into a Clockout race happening somewhere in Sprint City.[/p][p]Just you, a handful of other Runagades, and a clock that really wants you gone.[/p][p]That’s Clockout in a nutshell: high pressure, high speed, and zero mercy for sloppy runs.[/p]
Closed Beta
[p]Some news you might have heard already, but it’s still worth repeating.[/p][p]The streets of Sprint City will be opening up to their first visitors very soon. We’re preparing a closed beta, and the best way to stay in the loop is by joining the official Sprint City Discord.[/p][p]Once you’ve had a chance to run the city, we want to hear it all. Do the routes feel fair? Do the jumps flow? Did your legs survive the experience? All that good stuff. [/p][p][/p][p]Anyway, that’s it for this blog! I’ll be back soon with more insights from the streets of Sprint City.[/p]
See you out there,

Gary D. Building Sprint City | Dev Blog #1

Hey Runagades,
Gary D. Tour here.
[p]Today we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the construction sites of Sprint City. What you’ll see below are early work-in-progress images, alongside a few shots of what these areas currently look like in-game. Think of it as a small guided tour through the city while it’s still being built.[/p]
Let’s start with a look at the Plaza District.
[p]This one’s tricky. Plaza is meant to be a central, lively space. Somewhere Runagades cross paths constantly. The challenge, as I’ve learned, is finding an art style that feels alive without getting in your way when you’re moving at full speed. You don’t want to miss a jump because a billboard caught your eye.[/p][p]The early mock-ups show how the team experimented with shapes, colors, and depth, trying to figure out what looks good while staying readable when you’re sprinting at full speed. Below, you can see how those ideas have translated into the current state of Plaza District.[/p][p][/p]
That’s so Solarpunk!
[p]Sprint City runs on clean energy. There are plants everywhere. Some would even say we live in a solarpunk future. The buildings around town match that aesthetic. What you see here are early building concepts from a few well-known Sprint City architects that eventually found their way into the game.[/p][p]Some of these buildings live quietly in the background. Others are very much part of the movement system, designed to be jumped across, climbed on, or grappled over. In Sprint City, architecture isn’t just decoration. It’s part of the route.[/p]
Another district you might recognize is Primordial Park.
[p]It's also known as Ginko Territory. (For anyone curious, yes, I did my best effort drawing what a Ginko looks like.)[/p][p]This area of the city is a little wilder than the others. Construction here started like any other district, but partway through, the builders discovered that Primordial Park was the natural habitat of the Ginkos. They had been hiding there long before Sprint City existed.[/p][p]Naturally, construction was halted. Over time, the Ginkos started showing interest in the humans moving through the area, and eventually, the two learned to coexist. That’s how Primordial Park came to be, a shared space where nature and city meet. The Ginkos seem particularly fascinated by Runagades sprinting past at high speed.[/p]
Next up: something a little bigger.
[p]Now, what is a futuristic city without a really big robot? No, actually, a REALLY big one![/p][p]The Sprint City Mecha is still under construction, but even in its unfinished state it already stands out as one of the city’s major landmarks. It’s meant as a tribute to running and to everything Sprint City was built around: movement, momentum, and running fast.[/p][p]At the moment, Runagades can sprint and swing past the construction site to get a closer look. It’s not finished yet, but it’s very much part of the city already, both as a visual anchor and as something you’ll naturally route around while running through town.[/p][p]That’s it for today, folks. I’ll keep an eye on the construction crews, and if anything cool pops up, you’ll be the first to know.[/p][p]Follow Sprint City on socials for more updates:[/p][p]Discord X/ Twitter Instagram Bluesky YouTube Reddit TikTok[/p]
See you around the city soon.

— Gary D. Welcome to Sprint City!

Hey folks.
[p]Gary D. Tour here![/p]

[p]Longtime Runagade enthusiast, and your go-to for everything you need to know about Sprint City.[/p]
Now LISTEN!
[p]Before I say ANYTHING ELSE, you need to watch this trailer. Yes, right now. Yes, with sound. Yes, full screen.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]I’ve been following the scene for years, and today I’m super excited to get to share something groundbreaking: [/p]
Sprint City is officially announced, and it’s coming to Early Access in 2026.
[p]Okay. Are you breathing? Do you feel that tingling in your legs? Congratulations!! That’s your sprint gene activating!
[/p]
Now, what is Sprint City, you ask?
[p][/p][p]Sprint City is a competitive 2D platformer set in a solarpunk metropolis where wheels never caught on, but momentum absolutely did. [/p][p]People here grew up mastering movement itself; the rooftops, the rails, even the alleys are built with that in mind. Everything you see in the city is shaped to keep a run going or spark a new one. [/p][p]Every district you explore is designed for speed. The casual runners stick to the obvious routes. The competitive folks start finding shortcuts and the Runagades… well, they’re the ones discovering paths nobody even realized were there. [/p][p]Sprint City is a shared world. You’ll see other players show up naturally as you’re running, each doing their own thing. Sometimes you’ll race them intentionally. Sometimes one of you accidentally sets the other off. That’s kind of the charm. [/p][p]And here’s something genuinely cool: [/p][p]If you own the game, you can invite several friends to jump in with you directly through their browser. No install, no cost. Just instant fun! [/p]
Core Features (from a fan’s perspective)
• [p]Movement-focused controls that feel intuitive once they’re in your hands.[/p]
 • [p]Parkour momentum that encourages chaining moves together. [/p]
 • [p]A seamlessly shared city full of other players.[/p]
 • [p]Steam play plus free browser invites for easy multiplayer. [/p]
 • [p]Several open city districts filled with hidden shortcuts and skyline routes. [/p]
 • [p]Character customization so you can stand out as a Runagade. [/p]
 • [p]A high-tempo original soundtrack that honestly has me bouncing in my chair. [/p]
Wishlist the game and follow us on socials!
[p]There will be updates on Sprint City construction here on Steam and across social media as development continues. I’ll be keeping an eye on everything to keep you in the loop! [/p][p]Now whaddaya waiting for, wishlist the game and get a headstart on becoming Sprint City’s most notorious Runagade![/p]
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]More coming soon,
