Hotfix (March 20, 2021)

Hello everyone!

We just released a small hotfix that resolves a problem preventing new players from getting win-counts.

All changes:
• Fixed the bug where win issues would not count for new players
• Added 32 Windows Bit support (this has not been tested yet)
• Added a button to join the Discord server

March 2021 Playtest Update

Hello Everyone!


We're back with another update to the Playtest!

We've added a couple of items to help Daddies, and a couple to help babies! We have also managed to fix a lot of the issues that caused players to fall out of the map. We imagine there are still some more, so please tell us if this is continuing to happen to you! There are also a number of general improvements we have made to the UI and networking, you can read more below!

[h2] Mar 1 Hotfix[/h2]
  • The recent update introduced a feature that automatically connected you to a lobby server based on region, but this was not intended. We will add the ability to choose your region in a later update.

    All Players now connect to the same lobby server.


[h2]Detailed Patch Notes[/h2]

[h3]New Items[/h3]
  • Binky - Feed this to your baby to prevent eating and drinking for 30 seconds
  • Candle - can ignite gasoline
  • Soap Bar - Use soap to clean up messes made by Ketchup, Gasoline or other liquids
  • Lollipop - Sticks to stuff and gives a rush of sugar
  • Cookie - Gives a rush of sugar

[h3]Map Changes[/h3]
  • Air Vents - The Air vents allows babies to quickly move from one spot to another. There is currently one in the Living Room and one in the Kitchen. The cover is edible, but we don't recommend eating metal.

  • Added an underside to the sink. There is also a valve underneath the sink that can only be used by daddies to shut the sink off.
  • Added a switch that controls the ceiling fan
  • Daddies can now swing on some of the lights in the living room

[h3]Item Changes[/h3]
  • Updated the Power Outlet model

[h3]Character Changes[/h3]
  • For passed out Daddies: 3 successful chest compressions will now instantly pick you up
  • Characters now get up sooner after ragdolling
  • Adjusted size of Daddy's prone collider
  • Babies can no longer pickup furniture

[h3]Music & Sound[/h3]
  • There is now a unique track that plays when returning to the lobby
  • There is now a unique track that plays when a character is on fire
  • Fixed a bug that caused jump sounds from opposing players to always play at full volume
  • Added a lobby countdown sound
  • Fire now has a sound
  • Bouncing on Couches & the Bean Bag has a new sound
  • Fixed an issue where walking/jumping on carpets played the wrong sound

[h3]Camera Polish[/h3]
  • Camera no longer jumps up after ragdolling
  • The camera now follows characters better when crouch jumping & switching between crouching/standing
  • Made changes to how the camera follows the player while ragdolling

[h3]UI[/h3]
  • Changed the mouse control icon to something more inline with the other control icons.
  • Improved PlayStation Controller support: Play Station Controllers will now show the appropriate icons. (For the time being, it is required to turn Steam Input off when playstation controllers, we will fix this soon)
  • Made several changes involving the "On Screen Controls" in the bottom right corner:
    • Displays the name of the object you are currently detecting
    • Displays a tip for objects that have one (The baby also has some tips that show depending on it's status)
    • Switch the left/right mouse click icons to something more inline with the others
    • Renamed "Drop" (when holding an item) to "Move" as this does the same thing when you "Move" an item you are detecting
    • In the Rules menu, the item list is now alphabetized.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Made a fix that should prevent daddies from "wall hacking" by crouching with their back against a wall.
  • Fixed a bug where characters could clip through walls/floors when getting up after ragdolling. Please let us know if you find any other ways to get through walls using this glitch or another, this is an area we will continue to pay attention to.
  • fixed up some animation issues when getting up after ragdolling
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to use/detect items while climbing
  • Fixed a few issues with feeding the baby
  • Made improvements to character and ragdoll syncing


5:15pm EST Hotfix changes
  • Fixed the outlet covers freezing the daddy
  • Changed the font of the room codes to something more readable
  • Fixed an issue where drinking did not stop automatically
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the binky sound from playing
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the baby to eat from the battery tray while "binkied"
  • Added a collider to the living room window
  • Fire soundtrack will now loop if you are still burning
  • Ball Blaster Updates
    • Now Knocks out daddies for head and pelvis shots
    • Daddies and Babies drop what they were holding after being blasted by a ball
  • Made an improvement to ragdoll syncing
  • Added a fix for the left hand getting stuck on doors
  • Fixed a bug that caused Underwater sounds to play for all players


[h2] 10PM EST Hotfix[/h2]
  • Changed the game's DirectX version to 11. This appears to prevent some crashes, and generally increase performance.

February Playtest Hotfix Update - Room Code Fix

Hello Everyone!


A number of users brought up some issues with the February Playtest that we wanted to fix before the end of the month update. We appreciate you pointing this stuff out!

[h2]Hotfix Changes:[/h2]
  • Rooms Codes: The latest update introduced a bug where the "Join With Code" option placed all players in the same random room. We fixed this bug, and this screen now connects you to the appropriate room. We have also chosen to remove private/password games entirely in favor of the room code system. You may "Lock" or "Unlock" a room at anytime to prevent more players from joining.

  • Items now spawn in quickplay modes.

  • Win/Lose Jingles now play as expected

  • Fixed the issue where the baby could hover/slide on the ground after jumping

  • Made some changes that should improve controller detection - We recommend setting the default
    controller config to "Gamepad with High Precision Camera/Aim". Please let us know if you are continuing to have issues getting a controller detecting either here on the forums or at [email protected].

  • Enabled cloud saves - These will save Level, Skin & Perk Selections and Settings to the Steam Cloud

February 2021 Playtest Update is Live!

Hello Everyone!


We are very excited to release the first monthly update for the New Who's Your Daddy?! This update focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements, but we've also added a new item and lobbies now support chat! We have listed the full change list below if you'd like to know all the details.

We are very grateful to see such a level of engagement from the community for our first live build! We have received many helpful bug reports and suggestions that have assisted in fixing some of the major issues within the initial release. We'll be back next month with more fixes and new items!

We understand that many players are expecting more rooms in this release. We currently do not have a release date set for the remaining rooms because we want to take some more time to focus on quality improvement for the preexisting areas. We will continue to release monthly updates and remain in a Playtest state until all rooms are released, while also fixing major bugs and adding new features along the way.

[h2]Detailed Patch Notes[/h2]

[h3]New Content[/h3]
  • New Item: Can of Beans - Beans completely heal Daddy. Do NOT let your baby eat the entire can of beans.

[h3]Daddy Changes[/h3]
  • Daddy now always revives with 75% health
  • Successful Heartbeats reduce 2.4 seconds of passed out time (was previously 0.6 seconds)
  • Fixed a bug were feeding the baby would teleport them to the living room

[h3]Baby Changes[/h3]
  • Babies have some level of "air control" now
  • Babies can now see each others stats by looking at one another

[h3]Map Changes[/h3]
  • Removed Consistent Fork & Hammer Spawns - All fork spawns are based on a randomized system now that follows the item control spawn menu rules.
  • Adjusted ceiling lights in the living room
  • Added a bean bag to the living room - this works similar to the new couches
  • The Ceiling fan now knocks out the daddy if it hits him in the head

[h3] Item Changes[/h3]
  • Eating is now a lot faster
  • Hammer can now be swung to deal damage to daddies and break furniture
  • Locks now work on the fridge and microwave
  • Pills now restore stamina and remove all buffs/debuffs
  • Furniture can now only be broken with hammers or a ragdolling character
  • Fixed an issue where throwing soda caused you to hurt yourself as a daddy
  • Eating whole pieces of meat(raw/cooked/burnt/spoiled) will now reduce your energy
  • Vacuum is now much more powerful and easier to use (this is the "ideal" way to remove broken pieces of stuff)
  • Fixed an issue where clients would hold the vacuum in a ridiculously unusable way in online games
  • Ketchup & Mustard effects improved
  • Sofas are now bouncy and can be shoved around
  • You can now hold the action button down(default left click) to use an item as soon as you pick it up
  • Waste basket no longer turns pink
  • Apples and Bananas are now 33% larger
  • Moving items is now done with the drop button (Default R) instead of holding e (control tips show this)
  • Drinkable containers can now be eaten after drinking them
  • Shards (Anything that is broken) - now have a standard damage (-1) and sickness rate (-5).
  • Ceiling lights now reduce the baby's energy at a rate of 5 per second

[h3]Netcode[/h3]
  • We have made some changes that will help stabilize item jitter for players with high ping.

[h3]UI Update[/h3]
  • Lobbies now have chat!
  • Added a 1 Minute timer for the end of the match
  • Added a new post processing effecting for sickness called "Sickness Effect" in the options
  • Rules/Item Menu now scrolls at an appropriate speed
  • Fixed a bug where cloing the menu without saving would make multiple menus show
  • Various Item control texts have been fixed
  • Refresh button in Online Custom Lobby Search Menu has been fixed
  • Added an in-game help button on the menu that displays info on the stats

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug where drinking soda could cause you to leave the house against your will
  • Fixed a bug where eating a forking caused the screen to fill up with debuffs (we will add in the debuff at a later date)
  • The Fridge no longer explodes after opening it
  • Players can now back out of the quickplay queues in online menus
  • Outlet Covers now work as intended in online play
  • Ace in the Hole Perk now works as intended
  • First person is now the default camera view for new players - you can switch between first and third person using "T" by default
  • Skin Tone Selector now works with the mouse
  • Removed an invisible jar in the kitchen

[h3]New Sounds[/h3]
  • The lighter now has an on/off sound
  • Furniture now has a breaking sound
  • New Music & More sounds coming soon!!!

[h3]Performance Improvements[/h3]
  • The character reflections on the screens were causing major performance issues. We may continue to optimize them, but they are now off by default, improving general performance up to 30-100%
  • Limited fire to 50 instances for performance reasons
