Release notes: Version 0.148.0

This version mainly implements a network multiplayer engine that cannot be used already in normal gameplay but will be used by our beta testers for improving a new multiplayer feature coming to Hybrid Beasts down the line. Also, a new rare event has been prepared and will be released soon after some testing. Furthermore, a number of smaller bugfixes and performance improvements have been made. Have fun!

New Update 0.146.0 - Foundation are being laid.

This is a small technical update that improves the following in Hybrid Beasts:
  • Removed a potential crash using certain weapons in unusual places ːsteammockingː
  • Update to FNA 21.10 for slightly higher framerates and small graphical improvements
  • Internal preparations for new endgame and rare events coming soon
  • Further minor bug fixes mostly in audio processing

Release notes: Version 0.145.0

After an unfortunate long pause in development due to the Corona pandemic, we are now back in business and are now resuming the development of Hybrid Beasts with great momentum. We apologize for the long absence with a week-long 50% discount (starting September 18th, 10am PST), a small technical update with many minor bug fixes (live now) and more bigger updates coming soon.

New Update 0.135 + New Feature: Random Events + 1st event: Asteroid Impact

We are happy to announce a new update 0.135 for Hybrid Beasts that adds a completely new feature called "Random Events".

These random events are happening unexpectedly during a battle and have the potential to change the course of battle or drastically change fighting conditions. For example, in the first random event that is now available with the new update, a deadly asteroid impacts the battlefield wreaking havok where it hits. Currently, only this one random event is available, but many more will be available, soon. The frequency and kind of random events can be controlled in the settings menu.

A number of further sound effects have been added.

PS: If you have any issues or problems with the new update, there is now the possibility to select the beta branch "former" to choose the previous game version instead of the newest. Please contact us at [email protected] if this is necessary such that we can fix the issue as fast as possible.

New Update 0.134.7 + New Endgame: Acid Rain

We are happy to announce that the new update 0.134.7 for Hybrid Beasts adds a new endgame mode called "Acid Rain" where deadly poison is raining from the sky making it even more challenging to turn the tides in your favour during endgame. Hint: The mystery "When you dig deeper" must be solved to use the new endgame mode.

A number of sound effects have been added, for example during endgame introduction.

Furthermore, we fixed the Metal API for Apple macOS systems solving a major graphics issue (Thanks FNA 20.10!). The much faster Metal API can now again be used instead of OpenGL on Apple systems.

Also, we fixed a few rare bugs, for example after repeated Laser or Super Laser use. As always, if you encounter a bug in the game, please post it in the Steam forums, or contact us directly at [email protected] - we will help as fast as possible.
