Youtubers Life Update More - End of 2018

Dear Youtubers,

Hello! Long time no see.

After a much-needed break from developing Youtubers Life, we are getting ready to show some love to our beloved offspring again.

We understand it’s very difficult to accurately convey this feeling, but had we kept working on this project, it would’ve been impossible to give our best. Now, we believe it ’s time to give all our fans what you deserve.

Youtubers Life is being deeply reworked. The Game Design and Programming teams are working together to shape and polish your favourite features, improve the ones that troubled you the most and even remove tedious tasks. We’ve been gathering constructive feedback from your comments, reviews and Steam Community Posts, and this is the blueprint for the elements that will be added and/or reworked:
  • GUI will be revamped. Lots of cosmetic and functional improvements
  • New redesigned fancy cards, and new mechanics for the cards game
  • Improved deeper subs morale system that adds social network interactions and public presence in events to the formula
  • New social network interaction, deeper and more realistic social network to communicate with your followers
  • NPC Quest givers, now you can get new missions and assignments in events while interacting with people
  • Network system rework: new assignment market, improved network events and changes in requirements
  • Game re-balance, moving houses objectives will be changed
  • New video comments system, now you can spend some time answering the comments in your videos and getting some clues about what your followers like most
  • Besides mouse control you will be able to play the game with gamepad controls, so you can play it while laying on the couch
  • Commission video assignments to collaborators, a convenient mini-feature to speed up workflow
  • We’ve added a new quest log screen to get more info about it
  • General usability improvements

Some examples of our work in progress:

These are the main features on the table, but it’s still an alive project and there might be more changes added on the fly if we feel that it’s needed. We’ll keep you updated on what’s going on.

When?
Now, on dates: you know we’re an indie studio so speed is not on our side. We know you’ve shown infinite patience, but in order to do this the right way, we can’t rush it! Expect this update by end of 2018, but never before it’s ready and we’re completely satisfied with what we’ve got.

But there is more…

There’s a new channel coming!
The three existing channels will get a new addition. More info on the all-new fourth channel very soon, as we’re currently shaping its design. The new channel follows a different schedule and it will be released after the update is out and stable.

Price?
We said update! This will definitely be free content for all the owners of Youtubers Life

[1.0.4]The #YachtChallenge and wardrobe update!

Dear Players,

Here are your #YachtChallenge winners!

Congratulations to Marissi, Lucas, Crazy Neith, Baptippo and MaaRiia... You're now part of Youtubers Life forever!
Go find the new characters in-game and talk to them, they'll surely have something interesting to say!

The wardrobe
We have updated the tooltip to clearly state which clothes you should be wearing to each event. Let us know how you're finding the new system behaviour.

Also, as always, there were other minor bug fixes that should make the game more and more enjoyable.

Kind regards,

The U-Play Online Team.

[1.0.3]General bug fixing patch.

Dear players,

We keep on improving Youtubers Life and today we're releasing a new build which features several minor bug fixes, mostly visual:
  • There was a bug where changing the selected language didn't work properly.
  • Fixed the visibility or several textures which were displayed with a darker tone than intended.
  • The input bug where joysticks, steering wheels, etc, messed with the mouse clicks has been fixed and everything behaves as expected now.
  • Several GUI touch-ups. There were texts that didn't fit properly in their boxes.

As always, you're more than welcome to come join our forums:

Happy playing!

Kind regards,

[1.0.2]Youtubers Life welcomes Tux

Dear players,

We promised to support Linux once Youtubers Life got out of Early Access and here it is! Our penguin-OS fans can enjoy Youtubers Life too.

Input bug fix
Those of you who have been following this past 9 months of development, know that we've had a bug where joysticks, steering wheels, racing pedals, etc. messed up with Youtubers Life input commands and the game picked up the wrong clicks from the mouse.
We need your help, though, so if you've experienced this issue in the past and worked around it by unplugging those input peripherals when playing Youtubers Life, please try again and write some feedback in the bug reporting forum:

As always, thanks for helping making Youtubers Life a great game!

Current development
At the moment we're working on increasing the supported range of resolutions but we're running into some issues, that's why it didn't get included in this update.
We'll try to bring support for ultrawide setups in the near future. Keep tuned for more news.

Happy gaming!

Kind regards,
The U-Play Online Team

Youtubers Life future development and roadmap

Dear players,

Yesterday we launched Youtubers Life, a game which had been in Early Access since last May the 18th. First of all, thanks again to all our Early Access supporters, this has been a dream come true and we couldn’t have done this without you.
Thank you too for the wonderful reception and the congratulations, they mean the world to us. We read all the reviews and comments, positive and negative, and we feel that we need to further explain some key points and our future development roadmap

Why did we get Youtubers Life out of Early Access?
Getting out of EA for us means that we’re happy with the state of the game as it is right now. Since it’s EA launch, we’ve gotten Youtubers Life to levels of stability and game maturity that we feel are worth calling Youtubers Life a full game.
Fully releasing the game also has other implications. It increases diffusion: there are many media outlets that don’t review Early Access games, for example, and lots of people are not keen on purchasing EA titles.

Other platforms
We’ve always wanted to release Youtubers Life on every available platform. Steam has been a phenomenal springboard and, if you’ve stuck around the forums during this last 9 months, we’ve always relied on community input to improve the game, having a constant two-way communication with our player base. Look at the last update [0.9.3], for example, the most popular requests condensed in a User Experience improvement that’s brought new life to the game.
The console versions are past due time, they deserve to enjoy Youtubers Life too, but we needed the stability of a full release-worthy game in order to commit to finish development for consoles and other platforms.

Further development
Coming out of Early Access doesn’t mean we’ve stopped developing Youtubers Life. In fact, console development will bring controller support and any new feature we implement to the Steam version too.
The core game is cross-platform. This means that we’ll continue improving the game as we work on other versions too.
More content will come your way, although not in the short term. Our will is to develop the initially thought channels as free DLCs, and we’ve got other exciting ideas for the future too.
We’d like you to see Youtubers Life Full Release launch as a kid that just turned 18: it’s reached maturity, but its real life has just begun. The best is yet to come!

The impact of the Music and Cooking Channels
The decision to postpone new channel development for the moment being relies on several factors
  • The launch of the new channels didn’t improve the user experience as much as we’d hoped. Studying player statistics we can see that more than half of the new games that start everyday belong to the gaming channel.
  • We want to take our time to bring an exciting new channel that will be meaningful enough, and powerful as a standalone and significant slice of Youtubers Life. We’d never satisfied releasing sub-par content.

TL;DR
We understand that every decision comes with its pros and cons, but we’re really happy with what we’ve accomplished with Youtubers Life and what will come in the future. This game’s roadmap is very alive and its development will go on. The Full Release is just another milestone for us!
We won’t fail the community, we’re devoted to making the best tycoon we’re capable of. We’re not Arrou after all!

Sincerely,

The U-Play Online Team
