[h2]Darkovia V: The Blood Moon[/h2]

The war between the Vampires and Werewolves has waged on for as long as eternal night has engulfed the land of Darkovia. But all of that is about to change. The Blood Moon is rising... and the prophecy says whoever holds the "Eye of Night" during it will rule absolute.

But no one expected you. Your arrival changed everything for these fanged factions. Now, under the rising Blood Moon, you created an opportunity for the one thing no one ever dared consider... peace. As you read this, the leaders of the Vampires and Werewolves prepare to meet in the town of Darkhust. All eyes are on you.



[h2]The Vampires[/h2]

Safiria, Queen of the Vampires rules the vampires with her beloved husband, Vlad, at her side. He is far less optimistic about the truce. The same goes for her army of well geared and highly trained vampire knights. Hatred for the Lycans runs deep. The prophecy says that it is their destiny to obtain the "Eye of Night" by the Blood Moon... as it will give them the power to rule over all. But they are loyal to their Queen, who is risking everything for this one shot at peace.



[h2]The Lycans (Werewolves)[/h2]

Constantine is the King of the Werewolves. Far more feral and aggressive than their undead foes, it is no secret that most Werewolves do not believe there is any chance for a truce. But Constantine is strong and wants what is best for both his families. He is the only one to keep the Werewolves in-line through the wisdom and help of his father-like mentor, Senator Sevro. The Lycans have a slightly different version of the prophecy. It says that whoever holds the "Eye of the Night" will hold the power of Lycans and Vampires in their hands.



[h2]ShadowSlayer W[/h2]

ShadowSlayers are professional supernatural creature hunters. Towns hire them to protect them from the unspeakable things that go bump in the night. ShadowSlayer W protects the town of Darkhurst and is heralded by the townsfolk as a hero. He does not trust the Vampires nor the Werewolves. He is making a backup plan in case this meeting of "peace" under the Blood Moon goes bad.

[h2]Wes, the Boy[/h2]

The town of Darkhurst has suffered greatly during the war. A little boy named Wes was bitten by both vampires and werewolves. There was a longshot cure and you took it... but who knows what will happen as a result. (Just a reminder: Time moves faster in that place where you took him.)

[h2]Werewolf vs Werewolf Monster Duel Arena[/h2]

"I choose you Werewolf-chu!" In this new mini-game, you are the boss of a team of Werewolves. Defeat other player's teams by choosing which of your monsters goes into the pit to fight next. You can grant your werewolf gladiators powerups to give them an edge. Win bravely and earn Ragnar's golden armor-- restored to its original, pristine condition. Talk to Keeli in the Werewolf Coliseum to begin.

On the topic of lunar things... this Friday is the Lunar New Year! To celebrate the Year of the Ox, Winnie created some festive gear to celebrate. You can get it from Saber in the social district.

By popular player request, we added a custom mouse cursor in the newest version of AdventureQuest 3D. It changes as you mouse over things. We also fixed monster health bars, bank search, and some of those party issues.

Also, a lot of your fellow players have been asking for a way to obtain Vampire King Drachus' armor... we will be adding a fight so that you can get that too. Then, we will begin our journey to the treasure-filled Pyramids of the Sandsea Desert. But first...

[h2]What is Carnaval?[/h2]
Carnaval (or Carnival), in real life, is a week long festival celebrated across the world, but most famously in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There are bright costumes, floats and parades, and dancing in the streets! Carnival has been celebrated in Brazil for over a century... and in AdventureQuest Worlds since 2012... it's about time we brought it to AQ3D!

It is almost here! Here is a sneak peek of reward items from the challenge boss fight. As the Blood Moon rises, the leaders of the Werewolf and Vampire factions prepare to meet. Korin has been burning the midnight oil on the animations. The team is building the boss fight adventure for the finale of our Vampire and Werewolf saga. We are aiming at having the release up on the testing server this weekend (cross your cold fingers) and then releasing it for everyone to experience next week. The exciting challenge fight will follow.

[h2]The Blood Moon is coming...[/h2]
The Vampires and Werewolves are preparing for a mysterious event known as the Blood Moon. Many believe this lunar event will grant one side the power to rule over both... ending the war of the fangs once and for all. At least, that is what the prophecy says.



The Vampires and Lycans each have different versions of the prophecy. No one knows which one is right yet. But one part is the same in both versions. To fulfill the prophecy... either the Werewolf King or the Vampire Queen must possess a lost artifact called the "Eye of Night." But if you have played our other games, you may recognize it by another name... *gulps* in this week's release, you are going after it.



[h2]And this week's "Most valuable, but rarely talked about NPC" goes to...[/h2]
The Mayor! Yes, Darkovia's Mayor is a treasure trove of hidden secrets. And he owes you a big pile of gold. Claiming to be trapped in the town and Father two two very peculiar children, questioning him may be the key to understand what is really happening here.

Stop by Winnie the Tailor's shop in town. She knitted some sort of mitten gauntlets.



[h2]Coming next[/h2]
We have been listening to feedbck and have a few noteworthy things coming soon including a non-scaling dungeon option, mouse pointer for Steam players, more bank tabs, more friend slots, and more. The next major game feature update will be next week.

Meanwhile, Korin is working on the epic Darkovia Finale cinematic cutscenes. There have been some hiccups ("bad Unity 3D, bad!") but we are fighting through them and getting close. I cannot wait for the finale! (...and the Boss challenge fight that will be unlocked after.) The Blood Moon release will take place right in the center of Darkhurst...

Darkon is in town right now. He is selling off his collection, claiming that he has "too much of them." We are not sure why he calls his items "debris", but if you ask me, there is something strange and sinister about ALL of the them. You can buy these items from his birthday shop. "It's so cute!" Darkon's not certain how these creatures came to be, but he finds their presence amusing. Other people have used far less pleasant, words when describing them. Except for those who place it upon their heads. They do not say much at all.

This horde of dark and sinister items was created by rising start artist Darkon. (With some help from Dage & Thyton). If you have been playing the horrifying new releases in AdventureQuest 3D, then you have already been exposed to Darkon's madness. It is unlike anything we have done in the games before. His style is darker, more mature, and reaches into the dark depths of our conscience. We have been watching in shock as fan art of his new characters explode on our twitter feed within 24 hours each time he releases a new one. While it starts with this shop, we are excited that he will continue bringing his style and story here, to AdventureQuest 3D too.
