[h2]Story[/h2]
Something is terribly, terribly wrong in Heartwood forest. Creatures are corrupted, and even the plant life has become dangerous. Meet the Guardians and find Reed, the boy chosen to be the next Mystic of Heartwood. Can you protect the boy from the VoidKnight and his minions as completes his Mystic trials?

Face Omen, the VoidKnight. The VoidKing ordered this champion into Heartwood Forest to prevent what will happen if Reed becomes the next Mystic.

The Guardians mission here is one of the utmost importance. They know what is at stake... and something went wrong. Now, it will be up to you.

....also, there are rumors of a a lost Guardian tower somewhere within this forest.

AdventureQuest 3D's animators Korin and Xentry went above and beyond for heartwood. Every cinematic adds to the grandeur and excitement of the new Heartwood map and story. You've never seen action and story telling in AQ3D quite like this.

Jongaar's new soundtracks for Heartwood are like Bardic Inspiration. It captures the awe and wonder... yet makes you also want to charge into battle. Please feel free to do both.


[h2]Auden, the Traveling Merchant[/h2]
Auden the traveling merchant carries supplies to the Guardians out on missions. She's capable and she's seen a lot on her travels, but she's a trader, not a fighter. Give her a hand and she'll provide new stat-based items for you to craft!

[h2]First glimpse of the new villain for Heartwood forest's remake.[/h2]

[h2]From Concept to a finished 3D Video Game Boss[/h2]
The art for this new villain was painted by Dage the Evil. First, they start with a concepts like seem below. This villain is a Lieutenant (General?) of Vane the Void King. So the art was created while looking at Vane. When the two stand side by side, it should be clear who is in charge. Once the concept art was picked, Xero modeled the boss in 3D. The final model is then sent BACK to Dage who paints the final texture on the model. You may notice that most of our concept art is done with the arms out to the side. This is called a T-Pose. The game characters are stuck in this awkward position until they are sent to Korn who animates them and brings them to life. He just finished up the last of the cinematic cutscenes featuring the Void Knight. (THEY ARE AMAAAAAZING O_O!) Of course, the character was not complete when he started on the cutscenes. So he animated them using placeholders.



Back to the villain itself.... once the character is imported into the game, set up for each device (Apple, Android, PC, Mac) then Oishii sets it up in the database and works with Rabblefroth to add its skills. If the boss monster does any special interactive stuff with the map, then Dagger & Llusion help build the server side machines to support this. These are the steps to add a new monster to the game. Once the boss monster is fully set up and in the game, he can be spawned anywhere to fight, or in those comic like dialog cutscenes.

[h2]#3 Beat the Friday the 13th Challenges[/h2]

Last chance! Venture to our horror sleepaway camp and learn the legend of Shrade. Do the short storyline and then, if you are brave, take on the two challenge dungeons....

Dungeons & Rewards

• Shrade X: Get some friends and enter the sunken otherworldly ship in the middle of the lake with friends.
  
• Fleshette: Enter the dreamworld and try to defeat Fleshette. Turn in the pieces of memory and dreams you collect on the way to craft your own Fleshette armor and weapons.
  
• Don't forget to pick up your winning "Blue Skulls" team back flag
  

[h2]#4 Beat all of the Parkour Maps[/h2]

Find and solve all of the jumping challenges hidden across the game. Each one unlocks a special title & badge.

• Box Springs - Near Fort Sneed in Greenguard Forest
  
• The Mouse Hole - Look for a small mouse hole In Yulgar’s Inn
  
• Alata’s Cavern - In the Mushmen area of the Dragon Graveyard
  
• Salire Draco - Defeat the Dragonslayer storyline in Ashfall and you will unlock this challenge and you can access this right of the Dragon's lair.
  
• Underworld Parkour - Enter the underworld and go to the Underworld Gate. This one has SKULL LAZERS O_O
  

[h2]#5 Do the Daily Boss Fight Challenge[/h2]

Hop on to fight the Boss Monster of the day. Just go to any of the Quest Boards or the Town Portal to jump right in.

• Item rewards are now good for you no matter what your level!
  
• Craft special items from each boss.
  
• Earn a Daily Boss Trophy. Each one earned gets you closer to an awesome new armor piece or weapon from Cysero’s Forge.
  

[h2]#6 Do Winnie's New Tailor Shop Quests[/h2]

You can find Winnie's NPC in Battleon at her market stall by Yulgar's Inn. She's dedicated to helping you find the right clothes to fit your personal style.

• The Garment Shop has a beautiful Fortune-Hunter armor set ready to purchase for gold.
  
• Run some quests to help Winnie gather materials for two additional unique armor sets and a new sword!

[h2]#10 Get the "Dagger Killed Me" Title[/h2]

Dagger is the AdventureQuest 3D's game dev responsible for the most BRUTAL and deadly dungeons. You will receive the “Dagger Killed Me” title when you fall prey to one of his special traps in the “Daitengu’s Bamboo Forest” challenge on Yokai Island. Of course, you can also beat the Daitengu boss challenge to collect his Katana, Armor, and Wings.



[h2]#11 The Bank[/h2]

Go to the bank and open an account... stop a bank robbery, and quest into giant vaults filled with gold.

[h2]#12 Part II, the Sequel! Beat around the Bush[/h2]

Transform into a... Bush? If you are looking for a special item that has a 100% chance to drop and is funny as heck, find the path to that giant evil tree with all the puns near Greenguard forest. Then search around that tiny grove for a hidden box.

[h2]#13 Revisit the original Heartwood forest before it gets replaced[/h2]

With the new Heartwood forest coming very soon, this is your last chance to see one of the oldest maps in the game before it is replaced. The new Greenguard will be larger, more beautiful, and feature 1st of the Void King's villains, cinematic cutscenes, and new gear for everyone, and more.

[h2]#14 Reach Max Level[/h2]

Ding! Hit level 29 and get access to the most powerful items in the game in addition to the bragging rights. This will also get you ready for when the level cap rises to 30.

[h2]You can now equip your best gear with one click![/h2]
In this weeks new AdventureQuest 3D update, we added a new stat to your items... POWER! It's really helpful. Power is a single number that represents how powerful an sword, armor, or other item is. You're probably going to want to equip all of your most powerful weapons to do the most damage, have the best defense, and the biggest critical hits. So we also added an "EQUIP BEST" button (Pro move Rabblefroth!)

[h2]Have you seen the Equip Best button yet?[/h2]
Go to your inventory, then choose the second tab. That is the one that shows you all of the items you have equipped.

Press the Equip Best button and it will automatically equip all of your most powerful gear.


[h2]But my character does not wear Helmets/Capes/Gloves/etc[/h2]
No problem! You can get invisible cosmetic items at Warlic's Magic Shop. How does it work? Wear the invisible helm as a cosmetic and it will make it look like you are not wearing a helmet! Same for the other pieces. Except for your body armor. There is no invisible body armor. We do not want to lose that T for Teen rating O_O


[h2]Seeing your Power Level[/h2]
You can see your current power level in the equipped items tab of your inventory. We know. >_> Really weird that it is only there. So we are going to also put it on your character profile and also for other players when you inspect them.


[h2]Most Power = Best Item.... is this true 100% of the time!?[/h2]
Not necessarily. Your items still have all of their original stats. Close examination may lead you to discovering ways to get certain stats way higher. Which means you might be able to get even higher damage with items that have a lower rating. But for casual players, the new item power stat will let you quickly determine if a new item is better and should be equipped.


[h2]Listening to Feedback & Improvements Coming[/h2]

Thanks for all of the feedback so far. The next version of coming soon-- We already added levels to items that were too high to be used, and also changing the oddly labeled "sword" to the more correct "melee weapon". Also, there is a bug where your average power is lower than it should be. This is because it is factoring in your pet... and all pets currently have a power of 0.... /facepalm. If you see anything else, let us know. We will be releasing another new update with fixes before HeartWood goes live.


[h2]Daily Boss Fights now dropping items that are good for you![/h2]
Try out the Daily Boss fights. You should find that the item rewards are now good for your level.

There are so many things wrong this this picture.... LOL
First, you can see I literally wrote the design notes while talking in chat. (Which is actually kinda cool) Second, why am I level 50 with an average power of only 207!? XD Third... how do I have more items in my inventory than I have room for?
