Tavern Keeper 🍻 News

Demo available NOW!

The day has come, future Tavern Keepers! 🍻

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ THE DEMO IS NOW AVAILABLE πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

For a limited time, until July 29th, you can play the Tavern Keeper Demo!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2833530/Tavern_Keeper__Demo/

The Demo is a hand-crafted experience, separate from the full game, in which the narrator is looking for the main character of Tavern Keeper. Will it be you?

Apply for the role in the cozy village of Halflington where the narrator quickly tests you on some basics while showing you around.

Then, after navigating your first encounter with a hero, it's time to open your own pub in the backwater swamp area of Riverbottom.

Afterward, you can try out the Design Mode and run your tavern for a few days however you like. Will you offer more services, find the hidden coin or even earn your first tavern star? It's up to you! 🌟

Finally, at the end of the demo you will be asked to make one last choice.
What will YOU decide?
Announcing the Tavern Keeper Narrator
The good news continues: we are excited to announce that the narrator, and therefore the many, many characters featured in the game's interactive stories, are voiced by none other than Steven Pacey!

You might know Steven's work from the many audiobooks he narrates, for example from Joe Abercrombie’s fantasy works, and several books of the Doctor Who bibliography, to name just a few. Recently, he’s also been featured on House of the Dragon, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, and Love, Death & Robots.

Steven brings his phenomenal vocal talent to voice our hugely diverse cast of characters and interactive stories. At a time when many experiment with synthetic AI voices, we cannot overstate how important it is for us to have real artistic mastery to drive our unique narrative experience in Tavern Keeper.
And you can experience the narrator right now. The Demo is fully voiced and contains several interactive stories for you to explore: from a challenging hero encounter to a skeleton in an after-life crisis.

Go and play the most important role of all: the Tavern Keeper!

We hope this little Demo shows you our vision for the game and makes you excited for the Early Access release coming in Q4 2024.

Head over to our official Discord to chat and tag @TavernKeeper on X with your screenshots! πŸ’š

Build your own fantasy pub in Tavern Keeper with new demo coming soon

Taverns make up some of the most evocative locations in fantasy. From the Green Dragon in The Lord of the Rings, to the Prancing Pony in, well, The Lord of the Rings - taverns are the backbone of many a fine fantasy tradition. Even in games, you can't beat going to the pub. Reaching the Friendly Arm Inn in Baldur's Gate feels like a milestone, and Skyrim's Bannered Mare marks the start of plenty of quests. Tavern Keeper brings fantasy pubs and inns to life by putting you in charge of one - and it's getting a demo you can play for free soon.

Gameplay trailer details - Inside the Tavern #1

Hey, future Tavern Keepers!

Welcome to the first Inside the Tavern, our dev blog to detail the bits and pieces of Tavern Keeper! In this post, we’ll go through the gameplay trailer and delve into some of the game's main mechanics. If you haven’t watched our latest trailer, just give a play on the video below:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty:
Build your tavern
In Tavern Keeper, you have different rooms to layout your tavern with, from the taproom, the heart of the tavern, to the storeroom and staff room. Each area has its specific furniture you need to build - the taproom would be nothing without a tap! - and you unlock more rooms and services as you earn tavern stars.
Manage the menu
Your job as a business owner is to make sure you have enough drinks to satisfy your customers, set the prices, as well as create recipes to offer - as long as you have the ingredients, of course!
From simple grills to bread ovens and soup pots, there are several tools to create delicious meals to cater to your patrons needs!
Be the boss
As the Tavern Keeper, you decide who to hire to work in your tavern, and you have all the information needed to make the best choice, from staff skill in each area, their personality traits, and even what happens when they get critically unhappy. As you progress, you may assign them roles, set their workload, or leave them as generalists.
Meet the locals
You never know who might stumble through the doors of your tavern. Every character with a glowing book above their head has a special story for you to interact with in a mini-RPG-like choose-your-own-path storybook.
The funny-looking skeleton above is Cuthbert, a hardworking dungeon guard going through an afterlife crisis, looking for a new purpose for their life (or would it be for their death?)
Decorate and create
In Tavern Keeper, any object is an empty canvas, ready for you to explore your creativity. For example, check that lovely table above - you can simply add some candles and a cloth, or transform it into an entirely new design. You can design your own items too - and with a click of your mouse, share it with other players.
Progress and expand
You start your adventure with a shell of a tavern in the backwaters of the kingdom. Earn stars by running your tavern well and unlock new locations to start a new business, from the arid lands of the orcs to the green fields where halflings live - and more regions to be revealed. Expand your offerings to include new meals, rooms, and services!

Hope you enjoyed reading more about our game!

Cheers! 🍻
