πŸ“’ Tavern Keeper DEMO is coming later this month! 🍻

Hey there, future Tavern Keepers! 🍻

The time to open your first tavern is near: the Tavern Keeper DEMO is coming on July 22nd! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

It will be available here on our Steam page during SimFest for a whole week until the 29th - or maybe a bit more, we shall see! πŸ‘€

In the demo, you’ll be able to play a short story not available in the full game that will take you to explore two taverns:

One in Halflington, already busy with patrons…

And the other is in Riverbottom, where you can open your very first tavern and start honing your tavern-keeping skills!

You’ll also be able to earn your first tavern star! ⭐️ The game progression stops there in the demo to give you a little taste of your upcoming adventures as the Tavern Keeper. πŸ˜‰

The demo will be available in 14 languages with beta translations (and yes, feel free to send us your feedback!) and full English voiceover! πŸŽ™οΈπŸŽ΅

We can’t wait for you to try it out and enjoy a bit of what we’ve been cooking all these years!

Cheers! 🍻

Gameplay trailer details - Inside the Tavern #1

Hey, future Tavern Keepers!

Welcome to the first Inside the Tavern, our dev blog to detail the bits and pieces of Tavern Keeper! In this post, we’ll go through the gameplay trailer and delve into some of the game's main mechanics. If you haven’t watched our latest trailer, just give a play on the video below:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty:
Build your tavern
In Tavern Keeper, you have different rooms to layout your tavern with, from the taproom, the heart of the tavern, to the storeroom and staff room. Each area has its specific furniture you need to build - the taproom would be nothing without a tap! - and you unlock more rooms and services as you earn tavern stars.
Manage the menu
Your job as a business owner is to make sure you have enough drinks to satisfy your customers, set the prices, as well as create recipes to offer - as long as you have the ingredients, of course!
From simple grills to bread ovens and soup pots, there are several tools to create delicious meals to cater to your patrons needs!
Be the boss
As the Tavern Keeper, you decide who to hire to work in your tavern, and you have all the information needed to make the best choice, from staff skill in each area, their personality traits, and even what happens when they get critically unhappy. As you progress, you may assign them roles, set their workload, or leave them as generalists.
Meet the locals
You never know who might stumble through the doors of your tavern. Every character with a glowing book above their head has a special story for you to interact with in a mini-RPG-like choose-your-own-path storybook.
The funny-looking skeleton above is Cuthbert, a hardworking dungeon guard going through an afterlife crisis, looking for a new purpose for their life (or would it be for their death?)
Decorate and create
In Tavern Keeper, any object is an empty canvas, ready for you to explore your creativity. For example, check that lovely table above - you can simply add some candles and a cloth, or transform it into an entirely new design. You can design your own items too - and with a click of your mouse, share it with other players.
Progress and expand
You start your adventure with a shell of a tavern in the backwaters of the kingdom. Earn stars by running your tavern well and unlock new locations to start a new business, from the arid lands of the orcs to the green fields where halflings live - and more regions to be revealed. Expand your offerings to include new meals, rooms, and services!

Hope you enjoyed reading more about our game!

Cheers! 🍻

Adjusted timeline, a teaser, and call for help on localization testing!

Hello future tavern keepers,

We have made a slight change to our release window, moving it from Q3 to Q4 this year. On the bright side, we have something rather exciting coming up next week! Here's a little teaser:
Localization update
As you might have noticed, our Steam page now exists in 15 different languages and we are making some good progress integrating the first set of translations into the game:

Tavern Keeper contains a lot of text content (about 1 or 2 books worth!). This would be a challenge for any project but humor and trope-bending stories like those found in Tavern Keeper are notoriously difficult to localize as humor and jokes are often different from culture to culture.

We have engaged a team of professional translators and opted against using any AI tools to maintain this special human and handcrafted touch but translating this game is a huge effort and we could perhaps use your help in a few ways. Read on!
Help wanted
1. Help us spread the word πŸ’š

We are lucky to have a global audience in many corners of the world but if you want to help ensure the best chance of having this game come to your language, please help us spread the word. The more interest we have for particular languages, the easier it is for us to prioritize these.

2. Help us provide translation feedback.

We have a great team of translators but could use some help providing useful feedback. If you are a skilled translator yourself or you have excellent English and native language skills, please consider volunteering for language Q&A. We are particularly after help with the following languages: Ukrainian, Turkish, French, Russian, Spanish-LATAM, Spanish-Spain, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.

3. Help us test the game.

Spaces are quite limited so please don't be too disappointed if you are not selected but if you are keen to help test parts of the game in your language, consider signing up to our private tester application.

Until next week!
