It takes a village to scare Yog! The Yogtober building contest is on!

Greetings, Exiles!

The moon-drenched flesh of those who dare to wander the villages at night is the delicacy Yog most favors when sacrifices are made in his name.
It takes a village to scare Yog!
What’s better in a Hero's life than conquering lands and cursing at the Gods? This year’s Yogtober building contest is no simple task. It will require the combined efforts of an entire well-equipped village to overcome the terrors of his grasp!
Walking alone at night could be the demise of your citizens, but we will not falter Exiles! On this Yogtober, we urge you to join us in this great task! To keep his tentacles away, we pledge that you build a village more terrifying than Yog himself!
Prizes will be dropping directly from Yog’s grasp
This year Yog himself said all platforms are welcome in trying to scare him away. And he demanded that we divide the contest into 2 categories: unmodded and modded.

Both categories will have a first, second and third winners of the following:
1st place:
Nemedian Haunted Bundle + Cursed tree (knowledge unlocked from the Battle Pass Season 1, Chapter 2) + DLC of choice + Surprise package
2nd place:
Nemedian Haunted Bundle + Cursed tree (knowledge unlocked from the Battle Pass Season 1, Chapter 2) + DLC of choice
3rd place:
Buried arm prop (knowledge unlocked from the Nemedian Haunted bundle) + Cursed tree previously on the Battle Pass + DLC of choice

Yog also asked us to convey that he might be ok with sending out a few additional gifts for honorable mentions. He seems to be in a good mood...So, get to building, Exiles!
Due date
Beware of the dates, Exiles! Yog will not accept entries if they are submitted after the deadline. No sacrifice to his name will change his big head!

The contest is officially starting today! Submissions will be accepted from October 21st to November 10th at 11pm UTC.

The Age of Heroes Has Arrived!

Greetings Exiles!

The new major update is here! Let your war cries fill the air in welcome to the Age of Heroes. Glorious times are upon us!

Embark on new exciting quests with two new Companions, transform your base into a living settlement full of workers and warriors, and more!

Now, witness the consequences of taking everything from a warrior of the Aesir, and leaving them alive. This is Freya, one of the Companions who will join you.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Patch Highlights
In this first Chapter of the Age of Heroes, meet Liu Fei, the Khitan sorcerer, and Freya, the Aesir warrior. Embark on each of their epic questlines to gain their loyalty as a permanent Companion. These fully voiced characters will each gain perks unique to them based on your actions during their story.

The time has come, Exile. Lead these heroes through the blaze of corruption and vengeance – to glory!

Today, all of your worker thralls are transformed into living, breathing people. No longer mere items in your inventory, workers will now also go about their business in your base, socializing and meeting needs like sleep, hunger, and rest. Don’t worry, their duties will still be tended to, even when away from their crafting table.

When danger is present, some succumb to panic and flee, while others will stand and protect their leader. They are the lifeblood of your settlement.

This is a major overhaul that comes with many quality-of-life improvements, new UI, knock-on effects, and other details, so make sure to check out in the patch notes below.

Along with these two major features, today’s update brings a slew of bug fixes and improvements. We are aware of a persistent issue causing some players to fall through foundations or die suddenly. We will continue to investigate this and will fix it as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone for their reports and patience while the team finds the solution.

Keep your eye on our channels for news on what we’re crafting for the next Chapter in the Age of Heroes.

Slay and survive, Exiles!

So long, Age of War. Greetings, Age of Heroes!

Long live Age of Heroes!

The dawn of a new age is upon us. With it, preparations and arrangements are in order, Exile. Here's a quick guide to help you on what's been and what's to come!
Before Age of War ends

Battle Pass
First things first, have you finished your Battle Pass season? Ensure you complete any levels left behind and claim all your rewards before the new Age arrives.
As stated on a previous post, there will be no new Battle Pass seasons in the future. So, feel free to toss those coins you were saving for another season into the Bazaar to get your hands on the items before the new rotation!
Freya
Our favorite Aesir Warrior will become a different kind of follower when the update hits. Freya will rise from the ashes as a new companion! If you want to recruit her as a standard follower, do it now... the traditional way. And if you've got a few stashed away, don't worry. You'll still be able to place them as usual after the New Age arrives.
Headhunting
Make haste, Exile! Take the sorcerer’s skulls to the Khitan wagons, get your Ancient Obolus, and buy whatever you can afford before they take a break from business. The Headhunters will return at an unknown time when their thirst for sorcerers' must be quenched once more. We'll let you know when we see them coming!
Getting ready for Age of Heroes

Living Settlements
Is your stronghold ready to become a vibrant and suitable place for all the workers who will soon become followers? Once the Age of Heroes Living Settlements feature arrives, your workers will be available to be placed on the ground just like any other follower. Unlike fighters, archers, and performers, they will have dynamic behaviors and needs to fulfill.
Make sure to have campfires, beds, and chairs at their disposal. A water fountain and fireplace are also great options for your worker-followers to enjoy.

Don't forget to check distance, too. Even as your workers move around, they will provide bonuses to workbenches up to ~140 meters, or a little over 50 foundation blocks away. You can select which crafting bonuses you want from a new window at each crafting station! For more details, [click here for the blog].

Having a place to yourself is also good for a clan leader's mental health. If there are places you don't want to share with the staff, block access by swapping out stairs for elevators! Removing doors would also work a lot like removing certain stairs from certain pools in other lands...wink wink!

Finally, plan ahead for the outfits and equipment you want your new followers to rock! Craft stunning armor to dress your new followers in. Or keep them in rags...it's your choice...we will judge though.
Companions
The new companions will test the knowledge and strength of even the most seasoned warriors of the Exiled Lands! Explore beforehand to understand the clues your companions will drop in conversation. Level up and gear up to survive the hunts and battles ahead!

While you're at it, it might be time to follow the Dead Sorcerer’s map and learn more about the dark arts of spells and incantations. A few blood flasks would also come in handy.

Age of Heroes is coming in October. Grab your gear and potions, arrange your workshop, and set up a dining hall. A new life is about to begin in the Exiled Lands!

Age of Heroes Arrives on October 17!

Greetings Exiles!

The wait is almost over! We’re excited to announce that the Age of Heroes will arrive on October 17!

This is the dawn of a new age, and the team has worked hard to make sure this update feels like it. Soon, you will accompany fully voiced heroes as their legend is made, eventually recruiting them as companions to your cause. The unique perks they acquire will depend on your actions in these epic quests.

Living Settlements, the second major feature in Age of Heroes, will breathe life into your base thanks to worker thralls now existing in the world, reacting to their surroundings and living their life.

All of this will come with bug fixes and multiple smaller changes. We can’t wait for you to embark on this new adventure in the Exiled Lands. Only a week to go!

Slay and Survive, Exile!

Exiles, breathe life into your stronghold with Living Settlements!

Greetings!
The Age of Heroes is coming soon, so how about pulling up a chair and sharing a meal with the hard workers at your base? Living Settlements is a new feature which will breathe new life into your buildings! All crafting thralls will ~get a life~ and try to fulfill their needs when they are done with their duties.
Living Settlements
Prior to this feature, your workers were mere items at their assigned workstations. With Living Settlements their new life is about to begin as they will be freed from their restraints.
Needs
Each worker will have their own internal needs to simulate dynamic behavior. While their workstations will still display their bonuses and recipes, their behavior will take on a new flavor with animations based on their needs. Every "need" determines what your followers will be looking for in your base:
 • For hunger, they will be in search of a campfire, chairs, or communal benches. They'll sit down and enjoy their meal or a drink.
 • For rest, a cozy spot by the fire will do the trick.
 • For sleeping, they will need beds, so don't be cheap, bed rolls won't do the trick!
 • For the work “need”, they will seek available workstations.
Additionally, if your base comes under attack, worker-followers will have the instinct to flee or join the fight. Their instincts should match their profession, but you won’t know who’s willing to die for your clan until they are tested in battle.

While this new feature will add some spice to your constructions and help improve the immersion, you don’t have to worry about managing resources for their needs. Your workers won’t pull items from your chests or food from your preservation boxes. Their new behaviors are designed to enhance role-play and evoke a sense of vitality within the village setting at no cost to you!
Workers will become followers
Workers are no longer items you place in a slot on workstations. Once they join you or your clan and live on your base, they'll apply available bonuses and recipes to all stations relevant to their profession and tier within a 140m radius (about 54 foundation blocks). An updated crafting station interface lets you choose which thrall bonuses you want.

Once the update is deployed, your workers will remain in their previously assigned workstations. You can then select the ones you want to place on the ground, just as you did before with any fighter, archer, or performer. Set them to follow you, move them around, and place them on chairs, beds, and many other interactable placeables made available in this chapter. But remember, they will prioritize their needs and may insist on moving accordingly.

New bonuses and worker selection UI
New interactions with placeables
To make sure they have what they need, we also expanded the interaction between NPCs and placeables. For example, you will now have thralls grilling food, stirring pots and mixing potions, and you may find your workers taking a nap in your bed! While moving your followers, walk around your base looking for green ghostly figures – each ghostly outline shows you where a thrall can be placed!

New interaction possibilities
Dress them up!
Your workers deserve more than potato sacks and fiber wraps as they do the heavy lifting around your base. With Living Settlements, we are also unlocking a long-awaited feature requested by our community: to dress up your workers! As well as any fighter before, workers will now have equipment slots where you can change their clothing and weapons. Style them according to their profession, or not! It’s up to you how you want them to dress for the occasion.

Exile, get ready for a brighter Age! Tidy up your base, add more seats to the table, and cozy resting spots! Will you provide a good life for your followers or lock them in a damp dungeon dressed in rags?

Age of Heroes Chapter One is coming in October with Living Settlements, free will to your crafter thralls, new animations, new UI on workbenches, and much more! Don't miss out on the comprehensive FAQs that give you all the details on the latest content coming with the update.
