Conan Exiles News

The Age of Heroes is Coming to Conan Exiles!

From the ashes of war a new age is born. An Age of Heroes.

Greetings Exiles,

We’re thrilled to announce that in October, The Age of Heroes will begin.

The Age of War brought with it a long list of brand-new features and content, such as a complete Purge revamp, improved loot, the Siege of al-Merayah, the Tavern system, and Fatalities.

The Age of Heroes will bring even more. When we think of Conan the Barbarian, we must not forget the memorable characters that the Cimmerian encounters on his many journeys. These heroes, legends in their own right, come from all walks of life and excel at various skills. This is the aspect of Conan’s universe that underpins the Age of Heroes.

The focus on improving the depth and interactivity of companions and followers aims to make the world feel more alive and reactive. We’ll go into more detail on the various features we’re planning to add at a later date.
Walk The Path of Heroes
In Chapter 1, releasing in October, we will add Companions for the first time. These two fully voiced and fleshed out characters have their own unique progression path and epic story for you to experience alongside them.

The second major feature in Chapter 1 is Living Settlements, which breathes life into all the thralls in your base with realistic behavior. They will visit your tavern, eat, sleep, interact with those around them, and more.

The following Chapters in the Age of Heroes will bring additional Companions, events, and general follower updates.

As we’ve previously announced, we’re now including an additional smaller update between each Chapter, adding various activities and rewards. Furthermore, we have retired the Battle Pass, with those working on it being distributed across all other areas of the game.
Join the Steam Beta
Join the open Beta August 22 to try the new content. Simply search for the “Conan Exiles – Public Beta Client” in your Steam library and download the game. This testing build will be updated as new content comes in. Your feedback is always massively appreciated.

Keep your eyes open for more news as we approach the Age of Heroes launch in October.

Summer Retreat Contest Winners!

Hey there Exiles! We’re excited to send you into your weekends with the winners of the recent Summer Retreat Contest! Sometimes you have to be real hot to play real cool (or the other way around, depending on where you dwell) and we were thoroughly ‘ooh’-ing and ‘ahh’-ing at all the amazing entries we received.

Without further 'ado, let’s take a look at the winning entries across Modded and Unmodded categories, as well as some honorable mentions:

Summer Retreat Contest

A curious wind travels all over the Exiled Lands. Sun watches over gloriously, as summer reaches its peak. For some, it’s time to retreat into a cool house by the water or in a cooler area. Others aren’t as lucky, living in all-purpose homes or worse yet - working under the sun’s scorching gaze.

Exiles, have you ever thought about where and how you would face the summer in the Exiled Lands? Well, no better time now to think about and work on that we gladly announce our next Building Contest theme: A Summer Retreat.

You are welcome to imagine it any way you’d like - cozy and wicked ideas are both welcome.

Exiles, it’s time to build your Summer Retreat in the Exiled Land. Whatever a “Summer Retreat” means is up to you to decide.

Judging will be based on creativity and originality of both your building and how you applied the idea of “Summer Retreat”.

Bigger is not necessarily better! While work put into a detailed construction will definitely be appreciated, a small house with an original take and well-thought-out decoration will be more impressive than a bland building with simply a lot of rooms.

Context can help us better understand nuances! This is why we are giving you a field to tell us about your building in the application form. You can name your building, talk about where it is and anything we should know (and might miss by just looking at the photos/videos!) While this is first and foremost a building contest, we will be reading and considering this field for context.

Judges will be from the community managers, community support, dev team and a select few Exiles volunteers.

There will be six winners, three for each category: unmodded and modded. As usual, we will also have a few Honorable Mentions!

Feel free to share your creations on social media with the hashtag #HotConanSummer ! In fact, one of our Honorable Mentions will be chosen from the participants using the hashtag!*

Please note that you need to fill out the participation form to enter the contest regardless!

  • Read the “How to Enter” section for more info.

All entries must be submitted by July 25, 2024 10:00 CEST.

For each category (Modded and Unmodded)

To qualify as a participant, you must send us your entry through the Participation Form.

  • If you do not submit it through the form, your application will not be counted.
  • Optionally, you can share your creation on social media with the hashtag #HotConanSummer. This is NOT a replacement for filling in the form. One of the creations shared via this way might be selected as a Honorable Mention, but the ultimate decision will be at the Jury’s discretion.
  • We will accept entries until July 25, 2024 10:00 CEST. Entries submitted after this date will not be counted.
  • Please be sure to double-check all the information and especially the email address you enter, so that we can contact you if you win.

Good luck, Exiles.

Please use only the following websites to upload your building:

Imgur YouTube
OneDrive
GoogleDrive
Twitter Official Forums

Additionally:

  • Your entry must include an image and/or video of your building.
  • If you include a video, please keep it under 5 minutes.
  • If you include pictures, please keep it under 15 images.
  • When you submit your building entry, you affirm that it is your own work. You may have help making it, but it can only be submitted once. Please do not submit an entry that you did not make.
  • If same building is used in multiple entries, only the first entry will be counted.
  • Only one entry per person is allowed and this is true across categories (ie you can only submit an entry for modded or unmodded, not both)
  • All entries must adhere to the Conan Exiles Code of Conduct.
  • Do not edit your images in any way, such as filters.

New Update Now Live, with News for Next Age

Greetings Exiles,

Today, we come bearing big news! As you know, Conan Exiles is always evolving, and so is the way our team develops it. We have several important topics to cover:

  • Today’s new update
  • New content update structure
  • No Battle Pass from Next Age and onwards
New Update: Bounty Hunting Event & DBNO
The Bounty Hunting Event has returned, with a few improvements and new rewards. Across the Exiled Lands you will now find camps of people dedicated to Mek-Kamoses, a powerful sorcerer who will suffer no new upstarts.

Track down the nascent sorcerers and bring them back to earn unique new rewards. A living sorcerer is worth most, but their skull will also do. For the return of this event, new rewards have been added, including the Khitan Slaver Outfit, and a shiny new truncheon and bindings to bring those sorcerers back in one piece.

Down But Not Out (DBNO) has arrived! Thanks to this long-awaited feature, your thralls will no longer permanently die when their health is depleted. Instead, they will enter a downed state, during which you can resurrect them. But beware, for if your thrall is downed three times within a certain window, it will die for good. Make sure to keep them out of trouble until these “strikes” expire.

See the full details of today’s update in the patch notes below.

This update is the first of its kind, one which allows us to add content which did not make it into the major Chapter updates.
New Structure and Tempo for Content Updates
Since the beginning of the Age of Sorcery, and for most of the Age of War, we have been releasing one Chapter update more or less every three months. This was a new challenge for us, and we have learned a lot (and released a LOT).

For one, this cadence is not quite our sweet spot; where we are completely happy with the quality, the quantity, and the type of content we are releasing.

To find this sweet spot, we’re extending Chapter updates to roughly every six months, and adding a smaller update between each. Today’s update is the first of these.

We believe this will give us the time we want to fully flesh out the Chapter updates, along with the opportunity to add smaller updates between, including things such as new and returning events (with cosmetic rewards), quality of life improvements, and bug fixes.
No Battle Pass in the Next Age
As the nature of Conan Exiles and its development cycle has evolved, we have over time reached the conclusion that the time put into creating a new and engaging Battle Pass for each Chapter can be better spent spread across several other areas of development. These include both the Chapter content, and now the updates between as well, with various activities and rewards.

In short, a part of the work previously put into the Battle Pass will now be felt in free content updates and rewards overall.
Summing up, and The Next Age
To sum everything up:

  • Future Chapter updates will release about every six months.
  • Smaller content updates will release between Chapters.
  • The Next Age will not have a Battle Pass. Instead, it will focus on Chapters with smaller content updates between Chapter releases, and the Bazaar will continue with new items and bundles. The current Battle Pass will remain active until the next Age begins.

The team is progressing well on the next Age, and while we do not have a release date just yet, we can’t wait to share more info with you all in August. We will be bringing some brand new major features which have a ton of potential to expand upon for future updates, and which integrate well with existing features added in the Age of War, making the world feel even more alive and cohesive.

We’d love to hear what you think the next Age will be called, and what it will bring. Let us know in the comments!
Features
DBNO (Down But Not Out)
  • On taking fatal damage, followers (excluding golems) will no longer immediately die! They will instead fall to the ground and begin to bleed out. Their health bar will turn gray and deplete over time.
  • Interacting with allied followers that are bleeding out will perform a rallying cry that revives them and allows them to return to the battle. If you do not revive them before they bleed out, the follower will die.
    • Pressing interact will cause revived followers to return to their previous behavior
    • Holding interact will cause revived followers to follow you when they are revived
    • If you take damage while performing a rallying cry, the action is interrupted and must be started again.
    • Rallying cries will revive all followers in a 15 meter radius around the revive target
    • Damage taken while bleeding out will reduce the remaining bleed out Health
  • Each time a follower begins bleeding out they will accrue a "Strike"
    • If a follower has three strikes, they will die the next time their health is depleted.
    • Strikes expire simultaneously after 15 minutes
    • Expiration time is refreshed to the maximum duration when strikes are applied
  • Functionality can be enabled and disabled through server settings.
Event - Bounty Hunting
Bounty Hunting has returned to the Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah with several new improvements and rewards. Apprehend sorcerers and bring them back for a bounty - dead or alive. The Khitan Bounty Hunters have a special interest in both live specimens and sorcerous heads. Sorcerers can be found in any human camp - prepare for a fight!

New Rewards:
  • Mad Prophet Armor (returning)
  • Khitan Slaver - Bamboo Hat, Tunic, Wristraps, Legwraps, Footgear
  • The Tiger's Truncheon
  • Dead Woman's Tresses
  • Sundered Manacles
  • Blue Smoke Fireworks / Red Brocade Fireworks
  • Khitan Exile's Tribute Basin
Fixes
  • Additional Bounty Hunter representatives in camps.
The Bazaar
The Bazaar has received a new shipment of new items - including the Towers of Yamatai, placeables, weapons, and armors. Build your own mystical observatory with the Celestial Scholar Bundle or craft a base from the wreckage with the Barachan Castaway Bundle.

Fixes and Tweaks:
  • Adjusted inconsistent stats on Gurnakhi Saddles
  • Added missing Epic version entitlement for Vendhyan Katar small bundle
  • Fixed issue where Lotus emblem icon does not unlock upon purchasing
General Fixes and Tweaks
• Item stacks now split successfully inside of work benches.
  • Items in workbenches now display information on first interact.
