Developer Diary: U.S. Vehicle Changes

Commanders!

The Seahawks Battle Path is right around the corner and along with it come the American vehicle buffs we have announced in the article. So let’s take a look at them together.

American vehicles have long been the “baseline” of Armored Warfare in the sense they aren’t really good or bad in any particular aspects. They are just “there” and with the introduction of more and more specialized vehicles, they got pushed into the background a bit. Well, no more, because in the next update, they are becoming awesome.

Let’s start with the M1128 Stryker, Joshua Seagrove’s favorite Tank Destroyer. It’s becoming a really mean vehicle on the battlefield with the following changes:

 • For the autoloader configuration we are changing the reload time within magazine from 3.54s to 2s
 • Added new HEAT-MP round with 855mm penetration and 610 damage
 • Added new APFSDS round with 760mm penetration and 470 damage
 • Significantly increased the vehicle’s agility

Next is the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the workhorse of the Seahawks. This vehicle’s performance has so far been mediocre, which is why we have made the following changes:

 • Added the 600hp VTA-903T engine (this significantly increases its mobility)
 • 30mm and 40mm variants of the same gun are now separate modules with the 40mm gun having a new HE round
 • Added a new tandem HEAT warhead ATGM (with the same penetration and damage as the previous one but improved flight characteristics)
 • Added a new thermobaric warhead ATGM

In other words, the Bradley’s becoming faster and hard-hitting. But the main part of the changes concerns the Abrams MBT series.

For starters, most of the Abrams tanks are getting a frontal armor overhaul. It’s an overall buff to the frontal armor, but some parts are actually becoming thinner. Simply put, the Abrams frontal armor’s about to behave differently and it’s up to you to learn how to deal with the nasty beasts that are the new Abrams tanks. It’s certainly possible, just not a matter of a single button push.

Next, let’s discuss the specific vehicles, starting with the Tier 10 XM1A3, which hasn’t been performing great as of late. On the contrary, it needed a serious buff, which is why we made the following changes:

 • ARAT-2 ERA is now working correctly against tandem warheads (this was more a bug fix than a buff and is a mechanical change rather than a value increase, feel free to test it in game)
 • Added a new Trophy Next Gen APS module with Supercharged APS ability
 • Increased the initial acceleration for both engines
 • 120mm gun now has a new M1147 AMP remote detonation HE round
 • 120mm M829E4 APFSDS damage increased from 600 to 650
 • 140mm gun reload time improved from 9.8s to 9s
 • 140mm gun accuracy of APFSDS and HEAT shells increased

With the frontal armor buff, the XM1A3’s bound to become one of the best MBTs in Armored Warfare, period.

Next, the Tier 9 M1A2C (and its Hades variant). Aside from the frontal armor buff, we are making the following adjustments:

 • Fixed an issue where the properties of ARAT-2 ERA didn’t change properly with this module installed
 • ARAT-2 ERA is now working correctly against tandem warheads (same fix as for XM1A3)
 • Added a new M1147 AMP remote detonation HE round
 • Increased the initial acceleration for both engines
 • Reload speed improved from 6.7s to 6s
 • Significantly increased hull traverse from 33 deg/s to 44 deg/s

For the Tier 8 M1A2, aside from the frontal armor buff as usual, we are making the following changes:

 • Added a new M908 HE round (840 damage, 50mm penetration)
 • Increased the initial acceleration of the engine
 • Reload speed improved from 6.7s to 6s
 • Significantly increased hull traverse from 33 deg/s to 44 deg/s

Following is the Tier 8 Premium M1A1 AIM, previously one of the most mediocre tanks of Armored Warfare. We checked its statistics and decided it finally deserves a proper buff. Therefore, aside from the frontal armor improvement, we have made the following changes:

 • APFSDS round changed from M829A1 to M829A2 (740mm penetration, 540 damage)
 • Added new XM943 STAFF top-attack HEAT round
 • Added new M908 HE round (840 damage, 50mm penetration)
 • Increased the initial acceleration of the engine
 • Significantly increased hull traverse from 33 deg/s to 44 deg/s

The Tier 7 M1A1 can’t be left out either. You know the drill by now – frontal armor upgrade. But also:

 • Added new M908 HE round (840 damage, 50mm penetration
 • Reload speed improved from 6.7s to 6s
 • Increased the initial acceleration of the engine
 • Significantly increased hull traverse from 33 deg/s to 44 deg/s

We’re coming to an end now. What’s left is the Tier 6 M1 with the frontal armor adjustment but also:

 • Added a new armor module that improves the frontal turret and hull armor even further
 • Added a new APFSDS round (690mm penetration, 430 damage)
 • Increased the initial acceleration of the engine
 • Reload speed improved from 5.8s to 5.4s
 • Significantly increased hull traverse from 25 deg/s to 41 deg/s

The rest of the Abrams tanks (XM1, M1A1 Storm) performed well enough in order not to warrant major buffs but we didn’t forget them either:

 • XM1 (and XM1 Fox): APFSDS round changed to M833 (690mm penetration, 430 damage)
 • M1A1 Storm: Increased the initial acceleration of the engine (this will help nicely with your ramming maneuvers)
 • M1A1 Storm: Significantly increased hull traverse from 32.9 deg/s to 44 deg/s

And that’s about it, commanders. The Abrams tanks should retain their jack-of-all-trades characteristics but at a significantly higher level now. We hope that you’ll enjoy devastating your opponents with them and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Seahawks Battle Path: Prize Highlights

Commanders!

The Seahawks Battle Path. is coming in November and we’d like to take a moment to tell you more about its prizes.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

As you know already, the Battle Path will retell the story of the Seahawks, their odyssey across half of the planet and their fate – in other words, what happened before the Rate of Decay and Lone Star Special Operation. The story will be told via fifty diary entries (one per Battle Path level as usual) and the prizes of each level will be tied to their respective entries as in the previous story-driven Battle Paths.

The main prizes are, of course, the vehicles. There are three:

You can see them on the images below:

The VN20 will have, as announced earlier, a unique ability to deploy a turret targeting nearby enemies:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

But that’s not all. You’ll have the opportunity to also win the following items:

 • Abrams AGDS Tier 9 Premium TD (or its full price in Gold)
 • T-72 Victory Tier 5 Premium MBT
 • Sabre Tier 6 Premium AFV
 • Stingray 2 Black Eagle Tier 7 Premium LT
 • Three recently upgraded commanders (Joshua Seagrove, Kathryn Grey and Fyodor Sokolov – we’ll tell you more about later
 • Rest of Black Eagle skins (including the one for Object 640)

But what you’re here for are the new skins and camouflages, right? Let’s take a look at them.

The most interesting is the M1A3 Aces skin for the XM1A3 (which is getting a major buff and will be quite a powerhouse).

In the world of Armored Warfare, the M1A3 is the ultimate version of the Abrams. Four vehicles from the initial production run were all undergoing trials in the desert when the order to return to the USA came and they were left behind along with most of the other equipment used by the U.S. forces.

The prototypes were soon after seized by scavengers and sold to the highest bidder within days due to the concern that Uncle Sam might be coming for his lost toys. The highest bidder turned out to be none other than Clayburn Industries with Andrew Clayburn allegedly taking personal interest in acquiring these feasome machines. One of these Abrams tanks, “Aces”, became the personal vehicle of Kathryn Grey who used it to great effect in Clayburn Industries service.

The skin covers the XM1A3 with a camouflage kit similar to that of another skin, War Pig, although the XM1A3 one is somewhat different. It unlocks the hard-kill APS as well as the upgraded ERA kit on the vehicle and it can change colors as well based on the base paint you use.

The Avenger skin for M1128 Stryker is based on Joshua Seagrove’s personal Stryker.

Like the Aces skin, the Avenger too unlocks the top armor configuration (in this case the ERA one) and allows you to change its color based on the selected base paint.

The Deathstalker skin is based on a real-life Sheridan that was used during Operation Desert Storm (3rd Battalion, 73rd Armor Regiment). After its decommissioning, it was sold off to a private collector by the name of Jacques Littlefield, whose collection became one of the most famous in the world and perhaps the largest in the USA.

Mr. Littlefield unfortunately passed away in 2009 and his collection was partially auctioned off in 2014 to finance the creation of a new museum that would house the rest. And that’s where the real-life Deathstalker resides today – the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, Massachusetts.

And, last but not least, there’s the Sentinel skin for AMX-30 BRENUS. Its appearance is based on a real-life French “opposing force” (FORAD) vehicle. After their retirement, the obsolete AMX-30 tanks served simulated enemy vehicles at CENZUB, a special French military facility near Sissonne for training urban combat.

The unique camouflage it’s covered in is specific to this service and consists of three shades of grey and black rectangles. It likely first appeared around 2010. The vehicle bears the name “Sentinel” and, in the world of Armored Warfare, it was sold off and used by mercenaries in Africa.

We naturally have other prizes for you that are all tied to the story, such as the epic camouflages:

Some new camouflages can change their color based on the base paint:

And, of course, there will be plenty of avatars, flags and decals waiting for you as well:

These are just examples and there will be many more prizes in this Battle Path. We hope that you’ll enjoy this event that is coming soon and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Celebrating Polish Independence

Commanders!

On November 11, Poland celebrates its anniversary as an independent nation, forged in blood and fires of the Great War as well as the 1920 victory over Soviet invaders. Poland has always had an interesting and proud military history, never truly giving up during the Second World War and proudly continuing the fight from abroad. Regardless of the circumstances, Polish soldiers have always served with honor and dignity. Today, the Polish Army may very well be the most powerful single army in Europe.
Panzer 87-140
The Panzer 87-140 is an experimental version of Panzer 87 (Swiss Leopard 2A4), fitted with a RUAG 140mm smoothbore cannon and an armor kit called WE. It was developed in the 1980s and early 1990s to counter the next generation of Soviet MBTs, but with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the project was shelved, only to resurface around 2005-2006 but never passing the experimental stage. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Panzer 87-140 is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. Much like other Leopard series MBTs, it’s a long-range fighter with an extremely powerful gun and the ability to fire with pinpoint accuracy. Even though its armor leaves much to be desired, at long range, this MBT has few equals and can be considered one of the best snipers of its class.

This vehicle is now available directly in our Web Shop.

(Sort of) Historical Skin, Camouflage and Decals – Poland

Commanders!

For this year’s celebrations of the Polish Independence Day, we’ve prepared a somewhat different type of content because our skins are not always entirely historical – sometimes they are based on stories. And we have a couple of those for you today – stories from the Polish military that you probably haven’t heard of before, as re-told by one of our experienced staff members who has witnessed some and heard others. So let’s get to it.

The Half-restored T-72M2 Wilk skin is tied to an event that happened more than a decade ago, in 2013, in a military museum in Warsaw. Back then the money was scarce and the military (to which the museum belonged) just didn’t have enough to keep the vehicle pool in good condition. And then a disaster struck – the Minister of Defense himself was coming for an inspection!

But where there’s will, there’s a way and the soldiers found one. The minister was kindly asked to not stray off the designated path and the troops painted and cleaned only the front half of all vehicles. The rear half was left in the original state. The result looked ridiculous and it was perhaps for the best the inspection was called off at the very last moment. The skin pays a tribute to this event.

The second story is by far the most famous of those here. The 15 year old video of a driver damaging a mudguard of his BMP-1 and his commander, Andrzej, yelling at him became a huge Polish military meme. A bumper is nothing a can of spray can’t fix!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

For this story, we’ve prepared two items – a Polish winter camouflage and a paint spray can decal (although, admittedly, the decal fits the first story as well).

Next, there was a documentary series about the recruits enlisted into the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade. The document in question was created in between 2000 and 2001 and depicts almost all the training in the unit.

There are many iconic scenes and lines in the video, including the recruits being forced to pass through a dark, narrow pipe. And it is the pipe that we will have as a decal.

And, last but not least, there’s an older story from the 1980s. Back then, the Polish army wanted to obtain more info regarding the German Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank, especially the qualities of its fire control system. The only opportunity was determined to be a West German expo where the vehicle was shown to potential foreign buyers, including those from the Middle East.

And so a plan was set in motion. A technical officer who visually resembled an Arab was selected for the task. He was sent to the Middle East to a country where he was “properly outfitted” for his new role. He went to the expo as a person potentially interested in purchasing Leopards for one of the Arab countries. The people at the booth were eager to answer the newcomer’s technical questions and the officer thought he had succeeded in his mission.

After a week or so, a letter arrived at the Polish intelligence headquarters from its German counterpart with a photo folder where the spy’s journey was fully documented, from him entering the airport in Warsaw, the entire Middle East trip and finally his departure from Germany. The “spy” was spied upon the whole way and didn’t even know it. In a twist of irony, the data package obtained by the spy was actually real – the Germans simply didn’t think Poland would be able to utilize it given its technological sophistication. They were, but that is a story for another time. But such is the way of espionage – you win some, you lose some.

For this story we have prepared two assets – the Sheikh of Lekhistan player avatar with a middle-eastern-looking Polish soldier and a special player title: “Master of Disguise”.

We hope you will enjoy both the stories and the new items and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

 • Danish bundle with real-life Danish camouflage and base paint
 • Iron Crate

Between November 7, 2024 and November 14, 2024, the following items will be available:
Stridsvagn 2000
The Stridsvagn 2000 was to be Sweden’s next Main Battle Tank, designed to combat Soviet super-tanks such as the Black Eagle. For its time, the project was nothing short of revolutionary with extremely thick frontal armor and a powerful 140mm gun that could take on literally anything in its day. However, the Soviet threat dissipated with the collapse of the Soviet Union, which pushed Sweden to seek a cheaper solution to its tank problem, namely the Leopard 2 MBT. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Stridsvagn 2000 is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank that represents the essence of practicality. Solid armor, decent mobility and excellent damage over time output make this tank one of the most versatile tools you can have in your arsenal, equally capable in PvP and PvE. Aside from its advanced NERA armor, the Strv 2000 features a coaxial 40mm autocannon. The key to success is switching between both weapon systems and maximizing your damage output while your NERA armor eliminated one enemy shell after another.

The Stridsvagn 2000 MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
CV90120 Ghost
The CV90120 “Ghost” Light Tank was a Swedish demonstrator based on an earlier fire support model of the CV90120. As its name suggests, the vehicle is armed with 120mm smoothbore cannon but that’s the least interesting on its features. The Ghost is named after a special camouflage system called ADAPTIV that's capable of masking the bulky tank in the IR spectrum so well it disappears from enemy screens – like a ghost. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90120 Ghost is a Tier 9 Premium Light Tank. Depending on your choices, it can be configured two ways – as a fast hit-and-run Light Tank using the combination of a Ready Rack and its excellent mobility, or as a stealthy sniper using the ADAPTIV system and the upgraded ammunition. While you won’t be as stealthy as dedicated Tank Destroyers or small AFVs, you’ll still be able to do a lot of damage from behind the safety of your lines.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
CV90 Mk.IV
The Swedish CV90 Mk.IV IFV is the most modern version of the old but constantly developed CV90 platform. Since its introduction in the early 1990s, the vehicle was upgraded so much that this 2018 model bears little resemblance to the three decades old original, featuring cutting edge electronics as well as a brand new turret. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90 Mk.IV is a Tier 8 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle. It is a durable and reliable infantry carrier capable not only of dealing tremendous damage with its 50mm autocannon, but of launching powerful Spike missiles as well. In addition to that, it’s relatively well-protected and can also carry Mechanized Infantry. What’s there not to like?

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
CV90105 TML
The CV90105 TML from the 1990s was one of the first attempts to convert the CV90 chassis into a fire support vehicle by combining it with a French TML turret. The result was a fairly capable Light Tank with considerable firepower in the form of its 105mm GIAT gun that could successfully take out most MBTs of its time. Unfortunately, the vehicle didn’t manage to attract any customers and remained a prototype only. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90105 TML is a Tier 7 Premium Light Tank. Depending on your choices, it can be configured two ways. You can opt for a more sustained firepower with the large 12-round clip – this way you need to stay behind your own team or hide in bushes, turning your Light Tank into something like a close support Tank Destroyer. Or, you can opt for the fun option of turning your CV90105 TML into a hit and run monster. Ambush an enemy, empty the magazine into his sides or rear and immediately retreat.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
Swedish Bundle
Despite its neutrality, Sweden is one of the premiere arms manufacturers in the world and has a powerful standing army to boot. Even though the country was not a part of the NATO until few months ago, much of its vehicle fleet is compatible with western tech and the country now operates the Leopard 2 MBT (under the name Stridsvagn 122) as well as several CV90 variants. This bundle includes several camouflages tied to Sweden as well as a special player title.

The bundle consists of:
 • Scandinavian Summer camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian Winter camouflage (read more)
 • Swedish Export camouflage (read more)
 • Swedish Urban camouflage (as seen on various CV90 prototypes)
 • Swedish Flag decal
 • Player title “Viking”

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
Norwegian Bundle
Unlike Sweden, Norway is a part of the NATO with its units regularly taking part in operations abroad. One of the elite units of the Norwegian military is the famous Telemark Battalion of Mechanized Infantry and this bundle includes two items tied to it as well as the Scandinavian camouflages used by Norway and a Norwegian base paint, as seen on a Telemark Leopard deployed to Estonia in 2017.

The bundle consists of:
 • Scandinavian Summer camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian Winter camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian base paint (read more)
 • Telemark Battalion decal
 • Telemark Battalion flag
 • Player title “Einheri”

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
Danish Bundle
And last but definitely not least, we have Denmark, the army equipped with some of the best military hardware there is, including the Leopard 2A7DK Main Battle Tank. Aside from its simple but unique camouflage, this bundle contains a Danish player title, the Scandinavian base paint and a decal.

The bundle consists of:
 • Danish camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian base paint (read more)
 • Danish 1st Armored Battalion decal
 • Player title “Thrice-Hearted” (referring to the Holger Danske legend)

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.
