Update #101: Clowns have entered the ring!

[p]Hey Pinball Fans!
[/p][p]Happy Thursday![/p][p][/p][p]The tent is up, the lights are flashing, and the playfield is prepped, it’s showtime under the big top![/p][p]While we’re still hard at work behind the scenes with ongoing improvements and developments, this week we’re unleashing a table that’s anything but subtle.[/p][p]It’s loud, it’s colorful, and it’s here to turn your playfield into a carnival of chaos.[/p][p]
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls - step right up![/p][p]Grab your popcorn and prepare yourselves for a spectacle like no other![/p][p]Tonight’s main attraction? A dazzling display of mayhem and madness we call... Clown Deluxe![/p][p][/p][p]Enter a twisted circus where chaos is king and clowns are absolutely everywhere. Juggle multiballs through tight ramps, dive into the funhouse, and trigger silly sound effects with every flip. [/p][p]Expect honking horns, wild dancing, and surprises that hit like a pie to the face.[/p][p]Multiballs pop like popcorn, and the clowns? They’re just one bumper away from total madness.[/p][p]
The show’s about to begin… and you’re the main event.
[/p][p]Can you master the madness, or will the clown have the last laugh?[/p][p][/p][p]Grab your tickets, tilt if you dare, and flip your way to center stage…[/p][p]Because the circus just got Deluxe.[/p][p]
[/p][p]For those who love a great soundtrack, the awesome music tracks from this new table are available separately if you own the Zaccaria Pinball - Original Soundtrack DLC. [/p][p]A few words about the new menu and in-game coins.
We’ve seen some confusion about the new coins, so let’s clarify a few things without spoiling the surprise.[/p][p]First and foremost: coins are not required to start a table, and they never will be. The current game start, trial system, and all the ways you enjoy your tables today will remain completely unchanged. You’ll still have free access to your purchased content, as always.[/p][p]The new coins are tied exclusively to upcoming features. Think of them more like a bonus system, not a barrier. These coins cannot be bought with real money, and they are not used to unlock tables. They’re just a fun, earned currency to enhance your experience in new ways. If you take a close look at the image we shared, you might even spot a few hints about where they'll be used.[/p][p]And no, you can’t buy love with them, but we hope you’ll love what you can get with them.[/p][p]So don’t worry Zaccaria remains Zaccaria. We're just adding something new for those who want more to discover.[/p][p][/p][p]And here's a fun milestone with this update #101, Zaccaria Pinball has officially reached 2GB in size![/p][p]Hard to believe, right? Who would've thought you could squeeze this much fun into a space smaller than:[/p]
  • [p]A 20-minute 4K funny animal video compilation.[/p]
  • [p]Two full episodes of your favorite TV drama in HD resolution.[/p]
  • [p]Half a DVD.[/p]
  • [p]The maximum capacity of a top-tier hard drive in 1992.[/p]
  • [p]Approximately 1325 floppy disks (that is around 25 kg or 55 lbs) for those keeping score in 1989.[/p]
[p]And just how long would it take to download these glorious 2 gigabytes of pinball?[/p]
  • [p]With modern 5G technology (1000 Mbps), it can be downloaded in just 16 seconds. That's about four blinks of an eye on an average day. [/p]
  • [p]On a modern fiber connection (100 Mbps), it takes about 3 minutes, barely enough time to grab a snack.[/p]
  • [p]You might wait half an hour with ADSL.[/p]
  • [p]Make yourself comfortable if you use the ISDN line (128 kbps). It'll take about 36 hours. Perfect for a weekend getaway.[/p]
  • [p]Settle in for a 4-day download marathon on a good old 56k dial-up modem and don't pick up the phone![/p]
[p]Not bad for something packed with decades of pinball magic, hundreds of tables, and enough flashing lights to make a disco jealous.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for your continued support and feedback. See you in the next update![/p][p]

Update #100 – Magic Castle Deluxe & Beyond

Hey Pinball Fans!

Happy Thursday! We’re back with a fresh update to keep your flippers warm and your scores climbing!

Over the past few months our team has been split into three groups (table design, new Zaccaria features / bug fixing and a secret project). Now, that secret project and the main Zaccaria development have been merged, so you won’t see any extra surprises in this update, but rest assured our table-making crew is still working at full tilt!

The latest addition to our Deluxe series is Magic Castle Deluxe table, which invites you to a legendary pinball quest set in a mystical, alternate-medieval kingdom. Uncover hidden dungeons beneath the castle, and face off against mythical beasts and dragons. Master the enchanted ramps, trigger modes, and harness multiballs as you ascend through the castle’s secrets. Are you ready to wield the flippers of fate and become the ultimate Pinball Wizard?

For those who love a great soundtrack, the awesome music tracks from this new table are available separately if you own the Zaccaria Pinball - Original Soundtrack DLC.

And now, here comes the surprise. This is our 100th Steam update. Originally, we’d planned to mark this milestone with a brand-new beginning, as we hinted back in January. Earlier this year, we made a bold decision and completely rewrote the bulk of the Zaccaria codebase to lay down a modern, scalable, rock-solid foundation. This under-the-hood overhaul means we will be able to develop more efficiently going forward.

This will also mark the 5th major iteration of Zaccaria Pinball in its twelve-year lifespan. Sadly, we are not quite ready to publish this new iteration yet, but we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The initial version launched on iOS on March 27, 2013, with just three tables: Time Machine, Locomotion, and Devil Riders.

We want to thank everyone who has been with us since the beginning.

Our Steam release went live on June 16, 2016, with 38 tables. This milestone would not have been possible without you, since we first had to get through Steam Greenlight (we submitted on Jan 21, 2016). After six months on Greenlight, we launched in Early Access, which gave us the opportunity to refine the game and add even more content for pinball fans.

Hard to believe, but the first version of Zaccaria Pinball didn’t include any achievements. On Jul 15, 2016 It was our 3rd update that introduced achievements for just three tables: Time Machine, Locomotion, and Devil Riders. Today, we have around 5,000 Steam achievements. Just four months later, on October 17, 2016, VR support was introduced. Then, one month after that, on November 18, 2016, we released our 30th update, which marked the beginning of new table content additions. We implemented real-time ray-traced shadows on December 16, 2016, with our 33rd update as an 'early Christmas present.' The feature even worked in the VR version. This was almost two years ahead of the RTX era and well before ray tracing became a defining feature in modern gaming.

Each update includes numerous bug fixes. The list goes on and on. If you'd like more details, please check the News section.

Now, after the 100th update, Zaccaria Pinball boasts 160 tables. That means 122 brand-new creations added over nearly nine years of development. Breaking it down, we’ve released at least one fresh table every month on average, even though we had a few years development gap.

This new iteration retains our entirely custom-developed game and physics engine, along with the familiar Zaccaria gameplay, making it feel like you’ve stepped into “Zaccaria Pinball 2”. Importantly, the new in-game coins can only be earned through play and cannot be purchased with real money. Plus, every achievement you have earned, every high score you have posted, and every DLC you have bought stays safe and sound!

Without saying any more, we're leaking a picture of the new look that speaks for itself.

This is a development preview of a possible future look.

After we release this 5th iteration, Zaccaria Pinball will step out of Early Access and become a full, finished game.

This milestone means we’ve crafted a version of Zaccaria Pinball that reaches the same level of completeness as the classic games of the ’90s. Back then there were no patches and what shipped was truly the final product. It was not only a golden era for video games but also for pinball itself. A time when machines stood proudly in arcades and perfection was built right into the glass and steel. We respect that legacy and we’re proud to deliver a game we can finally call “done”. That is the very reason we have spent so long in Early Access. “Done” doesn’t mean the end of content. It marks the beginning of a new phase, built on solid ground, much like the expansion packs of the past.

We’ll be leaving behind an important milestone, but that does not mean we’re done developing.

We’re continuously working to eliminate bugs and improve your gameplay experience. Check out our dedicated Bug Reports discussion for detailed info on the fixes.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback. See you in the next update!

Update #99: Supersonic Deluxe and Vampire Award are here!

Hey Pinball Fans!

Happy Thursday! We’re back with a fresh update to keep your flippers warm and your scores climbing.

First up, we’ve fixed the PC Display Mode issue that we reported in the last update!
This week, we’re keeping things light on major changes, but we’re adding two exciting new tables, each with its own style and story.

Let’s dive in and see what’s rolling onto the playfield!

First up, let’s listen in on the latest passenger announcement…

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard Magic Pixel Airlines.” “This is your captain speaking. We’ve been cleared for takeoff on Supersonic Deluxe.”

“Please fasten your seatbelts and keep your flippers at the launch position.”
“You’ll be flying through fast loops, smooth ramps, and high-altitude jackpots.”

“Expect turbulence in the form of mayday loops, bonus multipliers, and combo sequences.”
“For your safety, please stay on the playfield and follow the flashing lamps.”

“On behalf of the entire crew, we thank you for choosing Magic Pixel Airlines.”
“Enjoy the flight and prepare for your score to reach cruising altitude.”

And now… let me tell you a story. A tale whispered in taverns at the edge of the world.

In a time long forgotten, when flippers were forged in candlelit crypts and monsters haunted every ramp, a table was built… not merely to entertain, but to test the will of the fearless.

This ancient machine, known as the Vampire Award, has returned from the shadows of the Age of Pinball. It is not granted lightly. Only the bravest those who have earned 3200 achievements may unlock its secrets.
To those who hold the Zaccaria Pinball - Achievement Table Pack DLC, the path shall unveil itself.

Holy water-soaked stakes and silver bullets await the hunters on this table. Beware when you see the hut. Beneath the hut, a crypt lies still, guarding untold horrors. Who knows what unspeakable creatures stir within the coffin’s depths?

Those who dare light the lamps of BLOOD… may live to tell the tale. Those who fail… shall be swallowed by shadow.

This is no bedtime story and your hunt begins… now.

For those who love a great soundtrack, the awesome music tracks from these new tables are available separately if you own the Zaccaria Pinball - Original Soundtrack DLC.

We’re continuously working to eliminate bugs and improve your gameplay experience. Check out our dedicated Bug Reports discussion for detailed info on the fixes in this update.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback. See you in the next update!

Update #98: Early Release - Soccer King Deluxe, Battle Tank and Bug Fixes

Hey Pinball Fans!

We’re back with another exciting update a little earlier than usual!
Due to a national holiday in Hungary, this week’s update drops one day ahead of schedule. We didn’t want you to wait any longer than necessary for the latest features and fixes!

Let’s kick things off with the technical improvements.

We’ve tackled a few important issues reported by the community:
  • OpenGL version fallback function fix. After introducing FSR, we updated the OpenGL version from 3.3 to 4.5. Unfortunately, the fallback mechanism didn’t work as expected, leading to crashes for some players using older hardware.
  • Improved Display Mode setting. In some scenarios, the Display Mode setting wasn’t functioning correctly, which could lead to display and performance issues. We've reworked the behavior for greater consistency and fewer surprises.
  • The drivers will now prioritize stronger GPUs by default for Zaccaria. This resolves the issue where the game could automatically run on a weaker (integrated or energy-saving) graphics card, particularly affecting laptop users.
  • Improved screen handling for cabinet users. It is now possible to assign the 4th display as a playfield, dmd, or backglass screen within the existing cabinet setup options.
  • Award Table Improvements. Starting from the City Golf Award table, we’ve begun systematically fixing bugs and polishing the Award series tables. These updates address long-standing issues and improve gameplay quality across the board. Expect more consistency and a better overall experience as we refined these special tables.
  • Memory leak mitigation. We've significantly reduced the occurrence of a previously reported memory leak. While not fully eliminated yet, the issue no longer leads to crashes or instability during typical use. In internal testing, even after 80 table launches, no critical problems were observed.

While we’ve resolved many bugs in this update, a few known issues remain that we’re actively working on. These only occur when using Borderless Display Mode:
  • on PC – When AMD Virtual Super Resolution (VSR) is enabled, activating a backglass or DMD screen in Cabinet Mode can cause the playfield resolution to exceed the screen’s boundaries.
  • on Mac – In Cabinet Mode, the playfield screen cannot currently be reassigned while using Borderless Display Mode.
  • on Linux – Borderless Mode may not initialize correctly until ALT+TAB is pressed twice. This temporarily resolves the issue.

Now let's talk about the tables!

Lace up your boots and warm up for match day! The latest star of the Deluxe series is taking the pitch. Here is the Soccer Kings Deluxe!
Dodge the defenders, master your combos, and shoot for the score. Feel the roar of the crowd as the stadium comes alive around you. Lead your team to glory in a fast-paced football frenzy and score real goals on the second playfield. But watch out, the referee is always watching.
Do you have what it takes to climb the league ladder and become the top scorer? Every shot counts.
This isn’t just pinball. This is football, reimagined. This is Soccer Kings Deluxe.

And the next table i$%B@7+Łe=7@n!

Update #97: Hop Into Three New Tables, Hunted Multiple Bugs And More.

Hey Pinball Fans!

Our next update is here, just in time for Easter! To celebrate the season of surprises, we’re releasing three new tables: one Deluxe and two Award series additions (including a long-lost gem from 2011). Plus, we're unveiling something special outside the game too…
As always, we appreciate your bug reports and testing. Your feedback helps make the game better for everyone! This update focuses heavily on improving performance and fixing issues.

Here are some major fixes:
  • Multi-Screen Crash Fix (PC & macOS). For more details, check out our previous devlog.
  • Resolved memory leak from Steam overlay.
  • Improved macOS external display support.
  • Improved macOS window mode support. Now the Full Screen mode is the Exclusive Full-Screen Mode and the Borderless is the native (green button) full-screen mode.
  • Fixed In-game UI visibility settings, now the NONE option behaves as expected.
  • Improved the in-game DMD panel and now hidden in VR.
  • Fixed borderless mode flickering issue.
  • Renamed windows for easier use for streamers. Now it's easier to find the game windows with your favourite capture application.

Some known issue:
  • On Linux, in Borderless mode, you have to press ALT + TAB twice to work correctly.
  • There is a not yet found memory leak in our engine. It is possible that the game crashes after 20-30 table changes.

For a full breakdown of all known issues and updates, visit the Bug Reports section in the community forums.

Now, let’s talk about the exciting new tables!

The first table is the Moon Flight Deluxe table which joins our Deluxe series. Based on Zaccaria's 1976 electro-mechanical table Moon Flight, this reimagined Deluxe version takes the spirit of the original and launches it into the cosmos with a modern twist. Get ready for a dazzling journey through space, complete with vibrant visuals and a fully remastered soundtrack. Whether you're a nostalgic fan of the original Moon Flight or discovering this celestial classic for the first time, Moon Flight Deluxe is a pinball mission you don’t want to abort.

Prepare for launch… and don’t forget to check the engine before you leave orbit.

Next on the crime list straight from the vault is the Gangsters table, which is an unreleased original table we began developing way back in 2011. For years, it sat forgotten on the shelf, but now we’ve dusted it off, retooled the rules, and brought it back to life.

Step into the shadowy world of 90s underworld legends, where loyalty is currency and power can only be earned in one way. In Gangsters, you'll place your bets, crack the safe, arm yourself and climb the criminal ranks with scores. How to get this table? Earn it the hard way by reaching 2,800 achievements, or get instant access with the Zaccaria Pinball - Achievement Table Pack DLC and step straight into the shoes of a true kingpin.

This ain't all, pal. The gangsters busted open the Magic Pixel vault, and now with 2,800 achievements, you ain't just getting 1, but you're getting 2 free goodies! Double the trouble, double the fun.

And what's the second table, you ask? The second one’s a real wild ride, straight from the streets, get ready for Wild Games!

The last table for this week was originally launched on mobile back in 2012. Now the Wild Games table is back and better than ever. Whether you're into skateboarding, cycling, snowboarding, surfing, or going on a quad, this table has it all. It’s chaos in the best possible way, with ramps, loops, and combos. Wild, just like your teenage spirit.

This is your table, your world. No limits, just raw energy and endless action. So grip it and flip it. Because if you’re not flipping… you're not really living.

For those who love a great soundtrack, the awesome music tracks from these new tables are available separately if you own the Zaccaria Pinball - Original Soundtrack DLC.

And a special surprise is not to be missed.

A small part of our dev team has been focused on reimagining how we present Zaccaria Pinball to the world, building a cleaner, more modern, and easy to navigate platform, not just for the game, but online too.

We're happy to announce that the official Zaccaria Pinball website is now live!

Got thoughts on the new site? We’d love your feedback! Drop a comment below or join the conversation on our forums.

…. and the last agenda item of the day is some clarification on Steam Achievements.

We’d like to clear up some confusion regarding our Steam achievements for the community as things have changed recently and we've found that there's a lot of misunderstanding.

Due to Steam’s technical limitation on the number of achievements allowed per game, we were forced to make a tough decision. In order to add new achievements for upcoming tables, we had to remove a portion of the existing ones.

But don’t worry, your progress will not be lost, only transformed.

Here’s how it works right now:

All achievements you’ve earned on Steam and not deleted will remain visible on in-game. But this achievement list may change in the future. The removed achievements (let’s temporarily call them Table Tasks) are still stored locally on your device, but they are separate progress from Steam. The Table Tasks are not erased, as long as you don’t delete your local save data. The Achievements menu in each table opens an Achievements List that currently displays a mix of both Steam achievements and the Table Task.

This system is still evolving and we intend to move the Table Tasks to an online-based tracking system, so they’re preserved independently from local files. But for now, as long as you keep your local game data, everything you’ve unlocked, both Steam achievements and Table Tasks will remain just like before.

Thanks as always for your support and whether you're hunting Easter eggs or high scores, we hope this update brings you a basket full of fun.

Happy flipping, The Magic Pixel Team
