Hey everyone,

Are you all enjoying our new videoplayer? Thanks to your reports, we addressed the issues for 3D mode and added a few more file extensions (.m4v, .ts, and .m2ts) for the Quest and Go. Please continue to let us know how we're doing and see patch notes below for more details on what has been fixed.

Movie Rentals recently added:
- Annihilation - now available in the US!
- Eden of the East: King of Eden (Subbed)
- Eden of the East: Paradise Lost (Subbed)
- Planetarian: Storyteller of the Stars

Patch Notes
- Fix for improper 3D OU aspect ratio.
- Fix for 3D OU having swapped 3D perspectives.
- Fix for low image resolution on Quest with full 3D SBS formats.
- Allowed the file extensions, .m4v, .ts, and .m2ts to be viewable on Quest and Go.
- Fixed a problem with certain sized videos having a line of stretched pixels towards the right side.

Hey everyone!

We are SO EXCITED to launch a new Bigscreen update today, with a brand new free feature: videoplayer.

The new Bigscreen videoplayer lets you watch your own video files, in any of our virtual environments (movie theaters, campfires, space station, etc.), and watch videos together with friends!

If your friends also have the same video file, Bigscreen will automatically sync the video so you can watch the video together! Bigscreen doesn't stream/share the video file, so your friends will need the files on their own device.

[h2]Cross-Platform: works on all supported headsets[/h2]
The videoplayer works across all supported headsets: Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, HTC Vive, Valve Index, all SteamVR headsets, and all Windows Mixed Reality headsets!

[h2]Watch 3D videos in VR: many file types supported[/h2]
The videoplayer supports 2D & 3D movies (Side-by-side 3D or Over-under 3D), and it supports most of the common filetypes.

[h2]Multi-tasking: use your Windows PC, multiple monitors, alongside the videoplayer[/h2]
Bigscreen already lets you use your Windows PC in VR. It also supports multiple monitors. The videoplayer can be used alongside your Windows PC desktop screens, allowing multi-tasking capabilities. Note: multi-tasking currently works best on PC VR, as Quest/Go mobile headsets are more limited today.

This videoplayer doesn't yet support any 180/360 content, and we don't support DLNA/Plex yet, but we're considering those features.

[h2]Free Movie Event[/h2]

Paramount Pictures and film director Ava DuVernay have made her powerful film "Selma" available for free on the Bigscreen platform. "Selma" is a deeply impactful piece. The film was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2014 and tells the story of how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led the three month charge from from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965 to secure equal voting rights for all Black Americans.

Bigscreen will be hosting a live movie screening of Selma on June 13th 4PM Pacific (7PM Eastern), free for audiences in the United States. This is a live, social experience – a unique way for VR users to watch a thought-provoking film with people around the country.

If people cannot attend our June 13th live movie screening, you can also watch Selma on-demand at any time in Bigscreen, for free, until June 30th.

In other news... Bigscreen's free videoplayer is in alpha testing right now. Sign up on our Discord! The Bigscreen Videoplayer will launch publicly soon, and enable people to watch their videos with friends across any headset (Quest/PCVR/etc.).



We're working super hard on many projects right now, including a friends system, more environments, better desktop screensharing features, more 3D movies, and larger room sizes. The rest of 2020 will be packed with tons of updates :)

🔄 Thank you all for reporting the issues you experienced in our previous update! We pushed an update recently to address the issues of not seeing other users in the room.

📹 Video player testing has commenced! We're gradually releasing the build to volunteers, so keep an eye out for an email about it if you signed up. All volunteers need to be a member of our Discord channel in order to participate in our test group, FYI!

Sword of the Stranger will be premiering this weekend! (Available in US/CA/AU/NZ)
