Update #23 – Call to arms! The Last Stand of Earth is upon us!

We know you've been waiting for this moment for quite some time – we’re proud to say the wait is over! The third comic book – The Last Stand of Earth – is shaping up really well and we're ready to share the first part of the story with you. 🙂

Prepare to fight your way through a completely new environment, eliminate hordes of enemies and defend the Earth from aliens! The Last Stand of Earth features:

• Eleven brand new enemies to eliminate,
• Three minibosses,
• One superboss,
• An intro and outro to the comic book.

The update also introduces five new melee weapons and one small but significant change – from now on, instead of an empty hand, every Badass Hero has hold of a melee weapon. Using melee weapons has been available for some time, but the weapon was usually sheathed on our hero’s back. Holding the weapon in your hand let’s you know you can use it at anytime, and – most importantly – it looks badass!

Another small change is the introduction of new control configuration options: gamepad auto-fire, left-stick jump, and auto jump-down. Feel free to adjust it to your preference, and if you have any other suggestions about gamepad controls let us know!

Adding the third comic book means more gameplay and – we hope – more fun! 🙂 We’ve decided to keep the current price tag until February 7th – but after that the price will increase a little to $11.99/€11.99/£8.49/pуб.299/29.99 PLN

We really hope you'll enjoy The Last Stand of Earth! Tell us about your experience, your feedback means the world to us! 🙂

Update #22: LEGEN - wait for it - DARY game modes!

This time we’ve cooked up something special for those of you who have already beaten the game and crave for greater challenge – the newest update brings two brand new modes to play!

Amazing Badass Hero

Unlocks once you beat Normal mode. This mode lets you upgrade your hero with randomly selected skills after completing each stage. However, when you die no progress will be carried over to the next run. Amazing Badass Hero requires more skill than Normal game mode.

Legendary Badass Hero

Only the fiercest warriors are brave or crazy enough to give this a go – no hero upgrades in this mode! Enter at your own risk – this one requires skill with a capital ’S’. Legendary mode becomes available once you’ve proven yourself in Amazing mode.

We hope you’ll like both game modes and, of course, we want to hear from you! Tell us your experience of these two modes!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter and leave your comments here. Your feedback is really important to us!

Till next time!

Update #18: Three brand new music tracks, Razor Chroma integration and much more!

We’re not slowing down – again we’ve prepared several features that, we hope, you’ve been waiting for!

The most important change that many of you requested is a redesign of the gamepad controls. We’ve added an aim assist feature to make the gamepad experience much smoother, and changed the default jump button to A. You can now jump using the A button, the left trigger and with the left stick, depending on your playstyle or whatever is more convenient in your gameplay situation! Thank you for pointing out that it needed a bit of a tweak, and if you have any other suggestions please tell us!

For those who thought the easy mode difficulty level was much too easy – get ready for a new experience – try out the new (somewhat harder) easy mode!
And we really want to know what you think about the new music. We’ve just implemented three brand new tracks for the second comic book – Operation Crimson Dusk.

There’s also a special surprise for every owner of Razor Chroma – from now on, Badass Hero works with your Chroma mice, keyboards, headsets and other devices. Experience lightning-fast feedback effects from your Chroma peripherals.

Thanks to your engagement and constant feedback, we’ve tweaked several minor things too. Here’s the full list of improvements:
  • Redesign of the gamepad controls
  • 3 new music tracks in Operation Crimson Dusk
  • Easy mode is not so easy anymore
  • Integration with Razer Chroma devices
  • Minor bug fixes

Last but not least: a little sneak peak of our third comic book – The Last Stand on Earth. Check out the brand new enemies you’ll encounter. We hope you like them!

Thank you for your support and feedback and, of course, keep talking to us!

Update #16: Steam Workshop, new soundtracks and many improvements

Hi everyone,

we've just released an update that enables Workshop integration for custom heads feature. It means that if you make a really cool custom head for Badass Hero you'll be able to share it with everyone. The Guide on creating and uploading custom heads can be found here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1139288752
With this update we're also adding complete soundtrack for the jungle comic book, including mini boss and main boss fights. Another improvement is that redesigned armor elements are now visible on the character again, almost all items have now proper icons and we've finished reworking the levels of the second comic book to have more space.

Another minor improvements made are:
- Badass Hero will now automatically step over small bumps - thanks PtrckG_0759 for the suggestion!
- Spiders will be partially visible even when they're obscured by a saw - thanks JoueurLambda for the suggestion!

We've also made a cool-looking Badass Hero artwork which you can also use as a wallpaper, you can download it from this links:

We're now getting back to working on the third comic book. Thank you for your patience and for your support!

Update #15: Melee weapons, custom heads, new soundtrack and more!

Hi everyone!

Today's update brings a few really cool features. The first of all is the addition of melee attacks, which is a great addition to Badass Hero's move set. It allows him to pull off some really heroic actions, like shooting enemies in the face and finishing them off with katana, or slashing enemies mid-air. Altogether with dashing it makes the gameplay even more dynamic and spectacular than before!

The next cool feature is custom heads - now you will be able to put your own face or someone else's into the game! The instructions for adding them are at the end of this post. Also there's one built-in "Skullhead" custom head right now, but we'll be adding some more in next updates, and we'll integrate it with Steam Workshop so it'll be easy to share your creations with the Steam Community.

We've also finally found started working on the game's soundtrack and the old placeholder jungle music is now replaced with a proper one. In the future there will be three different jungle soundtracks and another three per each comic book. Also each soundtrack will dynamically change when you're doing a combo. We really hope that you will like it!

Another great improvement is that most weapons are now held with two both hands and have a reload animation. It makes Badass Hero look really badass, especially with the new assault rifle weapon time! Oh, and did we mention dual weapons?

We've also started to make the levels a bit more spacious. This will make it easier for you to avoid traps and enemies' projectiles!

If you like the game and how it's developing, please consider leaving a review. Thanks!

Here's instructions how to make your own head:

There are five .png files in "CustomHeads/Template" folder in the game installation folder. To make your own custom head you just need to create a new folder next to "Template" folder and put your .png files in it. They need to have heads placed on transparent background, like the examples in "Template" folder. You can use free software like Paint.Net (www.getpaint.net) or GIMP (www.gimp.org) to make those files.

The minimum requirement is to have "Head_Normal.png" file as it is default head displayed on your character. Optionally you can also add the following files:
- "Head_Hit.png" - displayed when the hero takes damage
- "Head_Shoot.png" - displayed when the hero shoots or attacks
- "Head_Light.png" - applied when the hero's gun fires bullets
- "Head_Blood.png" - applied when the hero's hit points is below 30%

The game scans the "CustomHeads" directory and loads its contents on launch, so you need to restart it if you modify the files after it started.

Support for uploading and downloading the custom heads to/from Steam Workshop will be added in one of the upcoming updates.
