Leftie + Oculus Models

Hi All, just pushed [Leftie+Oculus models] update. Please let me know if anything breaks.

In the coming days, we'll likely be pushing a bunch of small updates.

At any point, if something breaks, please feel free to post to the forums; we listen.

Tiny Patch

Fixes/tweaks:

  • fix paddle turn off bug (thanks Tom for finding and providing video)
  • Put the bunny to sleep (well almost, it shouldn't come up very often now)
  • smoothen AI..speed up movement for lower levels, reduce shot speed and spin for pro
  • fixed ball freeze bug after watching full replays
  • added slider highlight on cursor-over
  • sped up AI response time/speed for serve

Updates:

  • Added player history. Whenever you play with someone, they get added to your history. We couldn't get the steam-recently-played to work, but it works in game. When you click on Multiplayer, you will see a new icon. Clicking it will show you a list of people you have played with and their states. If they are available, and you are friends with them, you can invite them to a match right from here. If you aren't friends with them, you can click their names to view their profile, and add them as a friend! No more "oh man i wish i got that person's steam account name"
  • Now when you end the game, you have a prompt to save replay..in case you need to end the game early for some reason but don't want to lose the replay.
  • While playing a player, you can view their profile and friend them.

Small Patch

Hi All. After the recent patch, a few new bugs have been found. We have tried to patch them up as best we can. As always, if you find something odd, please let us know.

Patch updates:

- Rematch button works now. If you are playing a multiplayer game, and you want to just free hit, press the menu button (on the controller) to hide the end of match menu. Note: you won't be able to start a game with that person again from the main menu directly if you do this.

- fixed bug where inviting a person on your list of friends sent the invite to the bottom list member

- Added the ability to invite a friend who isn't currently playing the game. In order for this to work, you need to have played with them at least once after this patch.

- Fixed a bug where the AI was invisible after ending a match sometimes

- fixed bug where ai would serve out of position

- fixed paddle reposition bug

- fixed replays getting cut short if you watch an instant replay.

- added a check box to choose to be able to reposition yourself while in menu or while out of menu. Many people asked for this as they were moving themselves accidentally.

- fixed bug where you'd be loaded in the game out of position.

- adjust friction numbers on the paddle (a bunch) and on the table (a tiny bit). Let me know how it is. Any tourney players out there can comment?

Replays and More

Big Updates:
  • 2 new mini games.

  • Replays! You have to make sure to enable replays in the menu (should be enabled by default). While this is enabled, during a match with the AI, you can press Instant Replay to view the last point..and any previous point. After the end of a match, you can view replay and/or save replay. Saving a reply makes it available in the Replay Theater. (new option in the main menu). While in replay mode, use the touchpads on the controllers to navigate time and position and game place. You can still drag the world around with the left gripper.

  • Spectator mode: while it's enabled in the menu, your pc will show a spectator view of the match. Anyone at the pc can control this view via WASD, and mouse (click and drag) or Arrow Keys. Additionally, hitting SPACE zoomed you between the preset camera positions.

Fixes/Updates:
  • Huge performance fix. Frame skip or similar behavior should be reduced 99%. Future patches will improve even more. If you still see a lot of stutters, please let us know.

  • Bug with AI freezing has been fixed.

  • AI logic has been updated as per community requests. For example, Amateur and Intermediate don't aim down the middle of the table, but to your sides (since it's easier). Also, each level has a speed and spin amount at which they start making mistakes. The harder you hit, or the more spin you put on the ball past that, the high the error range. So more human overall. Future patches will revamp the logic completely to improve it even further.

  • Paddle handle now has collision mechanics.

  • The spin slider has increased range after conferring with many seasoned players to match modern paddles. The physics of paddle collision will be worked on further, but with this patch, it should be pretty 1 to 1 already to reality.

  • Ping compensation slider doubled in effect. Depending on who you are playing, you can change it to make the shots appear cleaner at the cost of ball slowdown.

  • Collision code has been cleaned up, so there should be no more issue with balls going through the paddle at all.

  • Voice in MP has been altered to be much cleaner. This has introduced a bit of a delay in the audio (about half a second each way). We'll see about reducing delay, but for now, cleaner audio is definitely better.

  • Additionally to voice, a voice volume slider has been added to increase or decrease (All the way to mute) your opponent.

  • At the end of your match with the AI and opponents, there is an end of match menu. Current known issue is that the rematch button doesn't work correctly for multiplayer matches. We'll push a fix tomorrow for this. Meanwhile, if you press on the menu key on the controller, it will hide this menu, and you will be in free hit mode with your opponent.

Known Issues:
  • rematch button doesn't work in MP.

  • watching instant replay during a match does not stop the match, so if you try to do it during the AI serve, weird stuff might happen. We will fix this in the near future.

  • going outside of the safe space that is this apartment may blind you..it's very bright. Make sure to wear SPF over 9000 sunscreen.

Final Note:
  • Saved replays will be in the [game]/Assets/Recordiings directory as .rec files. You can share these with people. Also, if you see something odd in the game, or a bug in the match, please share with us the replay if you can (for example, if you still see the ball go through your paddle).

  • we have rewritten a bunch of code to make it super optimized, but it is built for a 64 bit machine. If you are running 32 bit, and get errors or weird behavior, please let us know and well work with you.
