Left 4 Dead News

Turtle Rock, the team made up of veteran Left 4 Dead developers, specialises in creating co-op shooters. Its first project, Evolve, wasn't the big success it hoped it would be, but the studio bounced back with the excellent Back 4 Blood.

And now, it looks like the studio has begun working on its next project, which, unsurprsingly, is going to be a co-op shooter. As spotted by GamesRadar, Turtle Rock put up a job ad for a senior combat designer.

The role, posted on Greenhouse, has a list of requirements that include love of first-person shooters, co-op and multiplayer games. While the description is careful not to divulge too many details, it does confirm the existence of melee and ranged combat, which admittedly isn't much given Turtle Rock's history, but it at least suggests the studio's next game won't be, say, a medieval ARPG.

Left 4 Dead was often used as a testbed by Valve for a number of ideas across games like Counter-Strike and Half-Life, a former writer has revealed when asked about the seemingly neverending Left 4 Dead 3 leaks. While the co-op game sequel looks like it's never going to happen, at least we may have an explanation as to why Left 4 Dead content keeps popping up all the time.

Left 4 Dead has one of the best box art designs in recent gaming history. Simple, eye-catching, and memorable thanks to that neat little joke with the fingers, the bright-green, L4D cover was a staple of everyone's PC gaming desk, or on the floor near their TV, back in the zombie game's heyday. Chet Faliszek, however, a Valve developer whose credits also include Portal and Half-Life, says getting the Left 4 Dead art exactly right was a bit of a nightmare, with one particular meeting at the future Steam Deck maker being especially "brutal."
