Star Explorers Pre-6.0 Beta Updated to Version 0.0.4

Just for anyone interested in the progress of this testing branch.

I was able to complete a run through of the main quest. There were a few hiccups along the way but I was able to fix things up and allow the completion of the main quest.

I plan to do some stress testing to the star chart next,

Star Explorers Updated to Version 5.3.5

Testing the new (pre-6.0) version of the game, I encountered a bug in which docking with the Mothership Altair was not working. In the process of testing I loaded up the (then) current version 5.3.4, and lo and behold, the mothership interior was way too dark!

I figured out what happened and have been able to fix the issue. The shader I use was not working and the map just had to be re-compiled with the corrected shader. Now the mothership interior (while still fairly dark) will look much lighter and have the lighting effects it always should have (and indeed thought it did until very recently).

Star Explorers Updated to Version 5.3.4

So there was a weird bug that caused the space background model to appear inside of the player's spaceship. It was harmless, but it did look pretty dramatic, like a giant black sphere of death consuming your ship. Anyhoo ... I believe I have eliminated this bug permanently.

It looked kind of like this, but black instead of greenish blue (I changed the color temporarily to help track it down...)

Star Explorers Testing Branch Updated to Pre 6.0 Test 0.0.2

Not a big update...

However I tested getting Acknexium crystals in this new version and it seems to work. You can plant the beacon and the motherships moves as it should. I have not tested out all the main quests yet, but so far so good.

I was able to once again identify the cause of the weird blob that comes into your spaceship. It turns out I had already found a solution for this, but forgot to implement it when returning from a planet, so it continued to appear. I will be updating this in the default branch as well.

In-game this weird object would have appeared black, I changed the color to help me track it down easier.

IMPORTANT:
Remember, this testing branch will no longer work with files saved in the default branch, and vice versa. If you start a new game here, don't try to open it in the main (non testing) branch.

Testing out Streaming

I've never really done any kind of streaming before (successfully) so I am trying this out again.
