With 34 Core Playable Cards and 17 Additional Cards you may unlock in the Gallery using Fellowship you earn during play. Build your own decks combining these allies, events and attachment cards, and try them out with your different heroes.

James Smillie is the voice actor who you may recognize as the 'evil voice' for narrative slides in The Lord of the Rings™: Adventure Card Game. He's been nominated for Best Character Performance in the VOX awards, a UK based award for professional voice actors.

Cards of the Silvan Watcher

Today we will cover the cards that make up Rossiel's hero pack- The Silvan Watcher. Rossiel is a Lore Sphere hero with a set of cards matching her status as an Elf from Lothlórien. As a reminder, all cards are subject to change before delivery subject to playtest and licensor approval.

Let's start with Rossiel's hero card, which we've updated since our sneak peek earlier this summer:


Rossiel is a 9 Threat Lore Hero with the Silvan Trait. Her stats are:
Attack: 2
Willpower: 2
Health: 9
Rossiel's Power allows her to recover a non-unique Hero and also to grant Surge to your next ally played this round.


Now, let's look at the Watcher's tactics card...


This is a 3 cost Tactics Ally with the following stats:
Attack: 1
Willpower: 1
Heath: 4
The Sharpshooter is a Silvan trait card with Ranged who gets to make an attack on an enemy that is attacked by any other Silvan card.


This is a 1 cost, 2nd level Lore Preparation card that deals one damage to all enemies once an enemy defeated. If this results in another enemy being defeated, another damage is dealt, and so forth until either every enemy is defeated or no enemies are defeated.


This is a 1 cost Leadership Ally with the following stats:
Attack: 2
Willpower: 0
Health: 3
On arrival, this Silvan card gains Guard for free during the first round of play (though you will need to activate defense in subsequent rounds).


This 2 cost Spirit Event grants a single non-unique Ally +2 Attack and +2 Willpower, but at the cost of that card gaining fleeting. This means you get a major stat boost, but that character goes away during the end phase.


This completes the list of cards available in Rossiel's Hero Pack. We hope you enjoy these new cards in play when they are released.

New to the game? If so, we highly recommend that you play the Tutorial Campaign. If you are an experienced gamer, or are coming to us with a lot of specific card game experience, you're probably thinking, 'How hard can this be?", or you just hate tutorials and don't feel like you need the hand holding. We get it. That's why we broke the Tutorial down into separate quests that teach you the basic concepts and then let you put them into practice as you wish. We wrap that up with an original narrative story that nicely leads right into the first campaign.

If you are used to lots of other card games, an important thing to note is that this is a Player Vs. Environment/Experience game, NOT a Player vs. Player game. That makes the experience very different than the typical digital card game and we have a very different complexity curve as a result. There are a lot of different options and nuances to the game that if you don't understand will hamper your ability to succeed against the forces of Sauron.

Where can you find the tutorial? Just click on the green campaign icon on the Single Player game map.



To select an individual Tutorial Quest (or any Quest), just click on the Quest icon to the right in the Campaign Information Screen. The first tutorial covers the basics of how to play the game, picking up where the basic prelude tutorial you played when you first started the game left off.



Tutorial Quest 2 covers more advanced concept for the game, laying on top of the skills you learned in Quest 1. Here we introduce Fate and Threat, which are key elements to the game and absolutely vital to your success or failure.



Tutorial Quest 3 covers the most nuanced aspects of the game, but veteran players will tell you that mastering these skills are your keys to victory. We go over attachments, specific keywords and hand size limits.



Tutorial Quest 4 covers how to make your own decks and what cards go into them.



Finally, we wrap it up with a standard quest in Tutorial Quest 5 for you to try out your new deck with, or to come back at any time. This Quest wraps up the narrative and directly leads into the first full campaign The Shadow's Reach.

This week we preview the cards coming in the upcoming Ringbearer Hero Pack which will be included in The Witch King's Grasp Expansion. Please note that all cards are subject to change until release and licensor approval.



Each Hero Pack includes a Hero card and 2 each of a card from each Sphere for a total of 8 cards. Let's look at the Frodo Hero Card we've revealed previously.


Frodo has the lowest threat of any Hero, but the lowest Health to go with it. However, he has Stealth, meaning that he can pick and choose when to act, and bypass guard to attack or resolve objectives. Additionally, whenever he resolves and objective, he will grant you an additional resource with the new Achieve keyword (which works similarly to Vanquish, only for Objectives.)

The cards that we will be featuring in the Ringbearer Hero Pack include:


This Leadership Hobbit ally has an initial high resource cost that can be reduced by resolving Hazards, with a 1 cost reduction for each.





This Lore event card costs 2 resources, and will grant each of your Heroes +1 Willpower for the current round, but also have you draw a card for each of the hobbit heroes on the playing field.





This Tactics event card costs 1 resource, and will deal 1 damage to 1 random enemy for each Ally you have in play.





This Level 2 Spirit event card costs 2 resources and will grant Fleeting to up to 2 Minions, meaning that at the end of the round, you can make 2 Minions simply go away!

We released the Steam version of the game into Full Release on Thursday and there are a number of new players in the game. Welcome new players and welcome back if you haven't played for a while.


If you are looking for tips and pointers on the game, last week we mentioned the online databases and the guides page right here on Steam. One are we didn't mention is the fantastic videos section on Steam as well. Here you will see a great collection of videos on how to play crafted by fellow players. We highly recommend you check out this content, as it will teach you some of the subtle nuances of the game if you are a new player, but you can also get a feel for the game if you thinking of picking it up.




Just a reminder that in honor of Full Release we've placed the first expansion, The Shadow's Fall, on sale until September 9th for 50% of the regular price!

Each expansion includes 4 new heroes, 32 new player cards (2 of each of the 16 different cards), a full new campaign with 5 quests and a host of Sauron cards to encounter. Not to mention 5 quest challenge cards, 4 hero challenge cards and a campaign completion reward.

What's Next?

Now that we're in Full Release, what's next? Next up is our very next campaign, The Witch King's Grasp, an entirely new set of quests in which we take you west of The Misty Mountains to Bree-land and the Barrow-Downs to face all new foes and overcome all new challenges.

There will be familiar faces, famous locations and a mystery or two for you to uncover in this new expansion, due this Autumn.

Starting next week we'll begin to give more sneak peeks as to what is in store for your fellowships in this all new narrative adventure. which will feature four new heroes that we covered in a previous news update including:

Beyond the next Campaign we're working on a lot more. We'll unveil the full roadmap in the weeks to come, but we're working on new cards, new cosmetics, new emotes, new encounters and new challenge rewards which we will sneak peek here and on our Twitch stream.

We've just released and we're just getting started.



We will be releasing a few quick updates in the next two weeks and will notify players when this happens and what's changed. These will be small updates and shouldn't keep you out of the game for more than a few minutes when they happen.
