Welcome to the Full Release of The Lord of the Rings™: Adventure Card Game!

This has been a fantastic journey as we emerged one year ago from our very own Bag End in search of adventure. Along the way we've encountered objectives to resolve, hazards to overcome and Sauron's minions to withstand ir order to exit our Early Access period today.

If you have been with us from the beginning, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We thank you for your support and feedback and appreciate that you made it possible for this day to happen!

If you joined us along the journey, we thank you as well for keeping us going and for giving us your input in order to improve the game.

Welcome to the game!

We highly recommend that you start out by playing through the Tutorial campaign. Sauron is devious, and The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game can be complex and there are subtleties to the game that can escape you if you aren't prepared for them.

Obtaining Cards

When you play the game, there are a number of ways to add cards to your deck.


The Core Set comes with 8 heroes:

• Arwen
  
• Gimli
  
• Tom Took
  
• Dwalin
  
• Eowyn
  
• Faramir
  
• Legolas
  

You can obtain an additional 4 heroes when you purchase the first Expansion, The Shadow's Fall.


This expansion includes 4 new Heroes:

• Dain Ironfoot
  
• Fredegar Bolger
  
• Glorfindel
  
• Idraen
  

New Heroes will be released in future expansions.


You also have access to loads of cards to unlock using the Fellowship you gain by playing. To obtain these cards, simply go to the Decks menu...



...and select the Cards tab:



Select one of the grayed out cards in the gallery (you can use the filters to see only the cards you don't yet own in your collection) and choose the detail view by right clicking the card with your mouse. In the detail view you can select to unlock either a single card...



Or both cards at once using your in game Fellowship.



Once you select how many cards you want, simply confirm to have these cards added to your collection. The amount will be deducted from your Fellowship total.



Note that you can only have up to two of each card in your collection (though once acquired, you can use up to two of each card in as many of your decks as you like).

You earn Fellowship every time you play, so if you run out of points, don't despair! Just play a session or two and you should have enough to unlock more cards. You will earn some points even if you don't complete a quest.




You can also receive cards by completing quests. The first time you complete a quest or encounter, you will receive a new card as a reward for your efforts. (You will receive a new Player Avatar after completing the quest a second time, and a Trophy Avatar for completing the quest a second and third time respectively.)

In order to see what card a quest will grant you, go to either the Single or Multiplayer Play Menu and select the Rewards tab...



...then select the First Completion badge listed to see what card awaits.



...and see the reward you will get when you complete the quest.



Note that the reward will update to let you know what rewards you've already completed.


Each Hero can also earn a new pair of cards for your collection by completing the challenge associated with the hero. To see what you need to do to earn the reward, go again to the Decks Menu.



Then select the hero you wish to examine by right clicking with your mouse on that hero...


Now select the Hero Award badge to see the card you can earn and how to earn it...



You will need to track your progress toward these goals on your own, though the system will tell you once you've earned the reward associated with each hero. Each hero earns only one such card, but usually give huge benefits.

There you will see walkthroughs, links to great videos and guides on how to build your decks. This area is fan supported, so feel free to include your own guides if you wish!

We will be bringing The Lord of the Rings™: Adventure Card Game into Full Release, Thursday, August 29th!

Final game pricing for the Core Set will change to $19.99 in the US / €19.99 when this happens. (Actual pricing will vary per your local currency).

If you already own the game at any level, you already have the Core Set.

For new players, within the Core Set, you receive a Tutorial and Full Player Campaign, 3 Encounters, 7 Playable Quests, 8 Heroes, 37 player cards and the ability to unlock 53 additional cards using your Fellowship as well as free reward cards for completing quests and hero challenges.

When we reach Full Release, every Core Set owner will continue to have access to new unlockable Player Cards, Encounters and the first quest of every future Campaign. Additionally, you will be able to access new cosmetics such as Avatars, Card Backs, and Emotes using your Fellowship Points that you earn in-game.

Additionally, after Full Release we will continue striving to improve the game with general bug fixes, improvements to the user experience and quality of life additions.






We've received a few questions on Fellowship. We will NOT be resetting your accounts or Fellowship totals when we come out of Early Access. You will retain the points you have received thus far and be able to continue to use them as normal with your existing totals.


We will have one last game update delivered when we go Full Release on Thursday. At that time, we will also remove the Early Access pop-up menu that appears before you start the main menu. Take a moment to read it one last time, or for the first time if you clicked through it all this time without reading it.

We'll update you with a Full Release set of patch notes when this update goes live on Thursday.




To everyone who has played the game and given us feedback during the Early Access period, we want to thank you. Our development and publishing teams have a passion for this game and the world that J.R.R. Tolkien created and we hope that comes through in the work we have done and the work we will continue to do moving forward. We couldn't have created this game without you and your assistance.

As a reminder from last week:

In order to change Sauron's Card Back, you need to go to the Vault Menu from the Main Menu:


Then choose the Card Backs Tab:


Then choose the Sauron Tab:


Simply click on the card back you like:


And then hit the save icon to save your selection (or hit the back button if you change your mind).


That's it. Enjoy your choice in-game as you defy Sauron's intentions.
