Hierophant Class DLC: Tools of Destruction
Inquisitors!
The Hierophant Class DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will arrive very soon to Steam, precisely in one week, on November 12! This final blog post will reveal some of the new features.

Of course, the main attraction of the new class is the Retinue system, namely that the Hierophant is able to unlock up to four Acolytes that will follow him into missions. However, the Hierophant Inquisitor himself has a wide range of abilities and tools that will aid him in his sacred quest - namely purging enemies of the Imperium.

 • First, the Hierophant Inquisitor utilizes Blessings and Spells. Blessings have an area of effect or apply directly to the target. Even with some of their drawbacks, with positioning and timing them correctly the Hierophant will gain an edge on the field. The Hierophant Inquisitor can have two active Spells, however, by utilizing the Holy Censer he can use an additional Spell Slot. Some Spells will require either a Libram or a Dialogous Staff to be equipped. Hierophant Spells include various buffs and spells, some of them downright macabre, such as Flagellation - the latter will apply Bleeding to all Retinue to grant Devotion to the Hierophant. No sacrifice is too great for the emissary of the God-Emperor!

 • Second, the Hierophant has a new type of Belt Gear available, namely the Curio. These Curios are unique items that grant passive Auras with differing effects and ranges, and they have an on-use effect. Basically, by using the Curio, one effect will trigger instantly and it will also apply a temporary Aura with various properties. By combining these effects with the Hierophant's Spells and Orders, you will have a wide array of options for dealing with various threats. Curio Belt Gear reserves a percentage of your Devotion - something you can draw from Perks.

Also, remember that the various Subclasses have different starting gear, and you should also utilize Retinue Orders for maximum efficiency. The Hierophant also has a new, class-specific resource, Devotion, that can be boosted from various sources, such as your artifacts and Passive Skills.

 • Finally, the Hierophant Class comes with 14 brand new perks, designed to fit in with various builds to utilize maximum class replayability and build variety. The Perk system has been revised for this class, now each of the perks have a secondary effect applied to your Retinue Members. New Perks will unlock with various levels throughout your journey.

Next week, be prepared to command your squad of Acolytes into the Caligari Sector, as the Hierophant Class DLC will be released on November 12 on Steam. But before that, look forward to an exclusive developer interview, and we will also be streaming gameplay with the new class, showing off everything the Hierophant will be able to do from Level 1 to Level 100. So, check back soon and often! Until then, please wishlist the DLC!

Hierophant Class DLC: The Inquisitorial Retinue
Inquisitors!
Only two weeks until impact - Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will receive a new DLC on November 12! The Hierophant Class not only comes with three subclasses, but also a brand new way to play the game - you will be able to bring AI-controlled subordinates into battle, up to four Acolytes.

So let's talk a bit about the Inquisitorial Retinue!

 • Some of you have already wondered how the new class differs from the Tech-Priest who has the ability to summon Constructs. The Hierophant class works differently. As he progresses through the game, he will unlock new Acolytes who will permanently follow him. You may decide to disable some members of the Retinue (or all of them, if you wish), but this will be your team of hopefully unexpendable subordinates. Because of this, you have some control over their actions and progression.
 • First of all, you can issue various Orders during gameplay - these are handled on the Orders Bar that replaces the second weapon set. Orders are special skills that modify the behavior of Retinue Members along with applying various buffs and bonuses to them. They can have multiple effects and they have different global cooldown. These Orders include "Move to Position", "Focused Charge", "Defend", "Taunt", "Salvation" and "Sacrifice".
 • Second, you can manage your Retinue at the Command Bridge and during missions, this management layer includes their gear and skills. While your Retinue is limited to your maximum level, they still gain a Skill Point every five levels which you can spend however you wish. You can also assign a unique Perk to them and change their gear.

Hierophant Class DLC: The Subclasses
Inquisitors,
The day is getting closer: Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will receive a new DLC on November 12. It will introduce a new Inquisitor background, namely the Hierophant Class.

Like with the previous classes, you will be able to select three specializations at the start of the game, these represent the various branches of expertise for the Hierophant.

Of course, all three have the same spiritual training, as they were devoted members of the Adeptus Ministorum, but they have differing starting gear and special combat abilities.
Confessor
• The Confessor will confront heretics with burning conviction and a thirst for truth and justice. This subclass starts with the Bolt Pistol and the Dialogous Staff. His armour is light: the Confessor Robe provides less damage reduction but grants increased greater movement speed. The "Blaze of Devotion" skill will send holy flames through your Acolytes, causing their kills to explode and ignite nearby enemies.
Cardinal
• His faith in the Imperium is unwavering. The Cardinal carries the Plasma Pistol and the Libram, ready to teach the heretics a sacred lesson. His Hierophant Vestment grants him extra maximum Devotion, and his skill "Reverence of the Acolyte" will empower Retinue Members with the ability to heal the Hierophant with each hit, among other effects.
Drill Abbot
• Standing in an imposing and all-resistant Militant-Apostolic Armour, the Drill Abbot won't take no for an answer from his Acolytes. With his "Righteous Zeal" he will infuse Retinue Members with fury, granting each of them Berserk Tokens. He wields a Chainsword and a Dialogous Staff, ready to punish the enemies of the Imperium in close battle, if needed.

These subclasses will give you a different starting experience and three diverse ways to play our Action-RPG. However, all three subclasses benefit from the newest addition of the Hierophant Class DLC: the Inquisitorial Retinue. We will explore this topic in our next blog post, so check back soon (and in the meantime, please wishlist the DLC)!

Hierophant Class - The Basics
Inquisitors!
Our robust Action-RPG Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will receive a new DLC very soon. Arriving on November 12 on the PC, the Hierophant Class introduces a brand new Inquisitor background that will fundamentally alter how players can approach the game.

 • The Hierophant Inquisitor, like the other classes, comes from an Imperial background. Specifically, as a former Ministorum priest who attracted the interest of the Inquisition as a devout Hierophant. He first became an interrogator, and now he serves the Inquisition in its sacred mission.

We always wanted to introduce the Inquisitorial Retinue to the game, and now we finally have a perfect class for doing so. The Hierophant Class DLC was designed to facilitate a new kind of gameplay, one that involves squad management - with up to four acolytes accompanying the player.

The Hierophant himself is equipped with new abilities and gear, and he can use various Blessings in battle. This class is especially a great choice to pair with the recently released Offline Mode update, as members of the Retinue have corresponding backgrounds from previously introduced classes, and they are essentially computer-controlled co-op partners - who must obey your Orders.

 • Even though the Hierophant might usually stay away from the heat of the battle, he is more than capable to protect himself. He carries a weapon in one hand and a relic in the other. Most importantly, members of the Retinue can be equipped with their own gear and can be managed both on the Command Bridge and during missions.
 • As usual, the new class will have three different starting sub-classes, namely the Confessor, the Cardinal and the Drill Abbot.

In our upcoming news posts, we will explore the differences of these subclasses, we will take a quick look at the new abilities and gear, and we will also explain more about the Inquisitorial Retinue. So check back soon, and in the meantime, please wishlist the DLC!
