Update on Bloodlines 2

Dear Bloodlines fans,

It’s been quite a while between updates while we’ve had our heads down working on the game. We remain just as dedicated to delivering a great Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines game as we were when we announced, and are looking forward to showing you more in September this year.

We acknowledge it was a long time ago that many of you pre-ordered Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. As development continues, we will be updating the game’s editions and bonus content, and we want to provide the best value to those of you who supported us via digital pre-order after all this time. We are thus offering refunds to anyone who has pre-ordered any edition of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. As part of this process, we are proactively refunding all pre-orders of physical products, including the Collector’s Edition. The digital versions of the First Blood Edition, Unsanctioned Edition and Blood Moon Edition remain, but can be refunded if you choose.

We’re excited to show you more and hope to have all of you with us in September when we reveal more. We know you are eager to see how the game is coming along so we’ve put together a fresh batch of screenshots to share with you.

For more information about refunds and how to submit your request, please visit our FAQ.

Until then,
The Bloodlines Team

Paradox is 'happy with the progress' on Bloodlines 2, but we still don't know who's developing it

It's not been an easy ride for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. During its development to date, the game has lost its narrative lead and its creative director, been delayed again and again, and been subject to scrutiny after veteran writer and narrative designer Chris Avellone had all content he created for the game removed after serious sexual harassment allegations were made against him by a number of people across the industry.

Despite all that, though, Paradox remains confident in the project. During the Q&A section of Paradox Interactive's Q3 interim report (thanks, PC Gamer), one investor asked: "Any news on Bloodlines 2 or its developer?"

It's a fair question, really; earlier this year, Paradox announced that lead developer Hardsuit Labs had been pulled from the project, and the publisher was bringing in a different team to finish the game. We just don't know who.

Paradox considered cancelling Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

When Paradox Interactive made the remarkable decision to take Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 away from its original developers, Hardsuit Labs, the company considered outright cancelling the game. That's according to returning CEO Fredrik Wester in a recent interview. Paradox still aren't saying who's making the World Of Darkness RPG now nor when it will be done, but apparently it's still happening?

Netflix Witcher and Shadow & Bone veterans plotting World Of Darkness shows and movies

Various folks behind Netflix series including The Witcher and Shadow And Bone have plans to develop films or shows set in the World Of Darkness. That's the goth fantasy universe which houses tabletop RPGs like Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse, as well as video games including the venerated Bloodlines. They haven't yet announced any specific project yet (nor indicated where they might find homes), but here's my pitch: a mystery show starring a Malkavian private eye.
