Bloodlines' endings are "canon but not necessarily true," says VTM boss

I consider myself to be, in many ways, the embodiment of chaos. My favored Dungeons and Dragons class is a bard (obviously), my favorite VTM clan is Toreador (obviously), and my favorite World of Darkness is, well, the Camarilla (didn't see that one coming, did you?) I've played Bloodlines many times before, and experienced its many endings. I've been LaCroix's right-hand blood mage, Ming Xiao's hopelessly obsessed sycophant, and Nines Rodriguez's hell-raising Anarch in arms; the night wears many faces (especially when it's Malkavian). But, during my preview of Bloodlines 2, I found an intriguing little lore titbit that inspired the question: "which ending is canon?" It's a query I pitch to WoD brand manager Jason Carl at Gamescom, and his answer is... interesting.

Gamescom 2025 — Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 Hands-On — A Worthy Resurrection

It feels like forever since we first got a look at what Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 has in store for fans, but it seems the team at Paradox is ready to lift the veil on one of the most anticipated sequels in years. I also had the chance to go hands-on at gamescom 2025, thanks to NVIDIA.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2004 cult classic has undergone significant changes since its original announcement, including a complete developer switch from Hardsuit Labs to The Chinese Room. Still, the core appeal of inhabiting a vampire’s unlife in modern Seattle remains intact. If the 30 minutes I had with the game are any indication, the project is in good hands.

Running on an RTX-based laptop with DLSS 4 enabled, I had hands-on time with the first section of the game — from creating a character to a quick glimpse of combat, Seattle, and the broader story. While it was only a tease of what the full game will bring to fans of the franchise, Vampire: The Masquerade —... Read more

Paradox will make "adjustments" to Bloodlines 2's DLC clans after fan backlash

When I learned that the Toreador and Lasombra were to arrive in Bloodlines 2 as playable clans at launch, I audibly squealed. As a hopeless Toreador main on tabletop, being able to play my favorite clan sparked pure joy. Sure, Ventrue is a nice second-best, and the Tremere's bloody explosions are certainly fun, but there's nothing like luring your enemies into traps and taking down foes at lightning speed. The bad news, however, is that both clans are locked behind a paywall, and will be unavailable to those willing for fork out an extra fee. As you've likely guessed, that hasn't gone down well, and it looks like Paradox may be considering walking back its decision.

Paradox are "making adjustments" to Bloodlines 2's day-one vampire clan DLC plans, following backlash

Well, there you go. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 publisher Paradox look like they might be sticking a stake in their rather unpopular plans to sell two of the game's vampire clans as paid day-one DLC. I say "might be" because nothing specific's been committed to yet, beyond some nebulous making of "adjustments ahead of launch" in response to fan feedback on the gating-off of Lasombra and Toreador bloodsuckers.

In case you missed the announcement of these two clans being packed away into the £18.69/€21.99/$21.99 coffin of Bloodlines' Shadows and Silk DLC pack, it came right as the long-in-the-works RPG got a fresh trailer and what should hopefully be its final release date. The only ways to get the clans were to buy that pack on top of the base game, or splash out £74.99/€89.99/$89.99 for the premium edition.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 system requirements

The Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 system requirements are pleasantly surprising, and will do very little to push most modern mid-range and high-end gaming PCs or laptops. However, we're still hoping for more detailed specs that cater to high-performance targets in the lead-up to release.

With the Bloodlines 2 release date confirmed at Gamescom, we can now officially get hyped. Our news editor, Lauren, also recently had the chance to play the game and wrote about it in her Bloodlines 2 preview. On the specs front, you won't need the best graphics card from our buying guide to play Bloodlines 2, but we're still yet to receive any performance targets from the developer, which is a key detail we hope to have soon.
