OUTSTANDING VISUAL STYLE: Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Dear Pilgrims,

Nine months have already passed since the release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human. We are thrilled that you are here with us and that you appreciate our game which we have been working on for the last few years. Thanks to you, Dying Light 2 Stay Human was on Steam's bestseller list for many months.

If you liked Dying Light 2 Stay Human and are a fan of the game, vote for it at the Steam Awards.
Here are the categories - Game of the Year, Best Soundtrack, Best Game You Suck At, Outstanding Visual Style, and Labor of Love for the first Dying Light game.

Outstanding Visual Style: Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Some of the focal points of Dying Light 2 Stay Human are the day and night cycle, along with the duality of its world. The day belongs to humans, and the night belongs to the Infected. There’s also a certain, more vertical, division present in different areas of the City.

The streets are roamed by the Infected. Because of that - humans don't build any shelters on the street level. They instead create various structures on the rooftops. That’s why it was vital for us to come up with different ways of guiding players through this high-rise maze. The entire City is filled with very distinguishable details that instantly let you know where you are in relation to objects like monuments, characteristic buildings, churches, etc. We also aimed to convey this feeling of danger using a different color grading. On the street level, the colors suddenly change. It’s not as bright and not as colorful.

BEST SOUNDTRACK: Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Best Soundtrack: Dying Light 2 Stay Human

The music of Dying Light 2 Stay Human consists of over 3 hours of amazing compositions made by the multi-award-winning composer - Olivier Deriviere - and performed by the equally talented - London Contemporary Orchestra.

It’s a symphony about empowering yourself in the face of the biggest of adversities. The performance of London Contemporary Orchestra really encapsulates the tone and the textures Olivier has created to deliver a unique sound to the game. But ultimately, how the music reacts to the game’s environment is the most groundbreaking part. In Olivier’s opinion, it is the best music design he has ever done.

This soundtrack is a breakthrough in dynamic musical implementation that quickly reacts and seamlessly readjusts itself depending on the player’s actions. The breathtaking soundtrack equally enriches both the traversal-focused and the action-oriented aspects of the game.

Game of the Year: Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Dying Light 2 Stay Human succeeds in perfecting every major aspect of its predecessor’s gameplay mechanics, technical performance, artistic expression, and storytelling.

It expands the lore of the first game by presenting a difficult, morally complex human drama during the modern dark ages. It also allows players to shape this story into something that reflects their own beliefs. Moreover, Dying Light 2 Stay Human introduces gamers to a brand new level of quality in terms of Techland’s technical and artistic achievements in a variety of fields, such as animation, game design, visual design, or music design.

Our 5-year support plan proves the entire team’s devotion towards this game. We want to expand it even further and to make it an even better experience for all gamers. Dying Light 2 Stay Human remains an absolute stand-out in a genre of fast-paced games that offer copious amounts of action while also trying to tell a deeper story.

Bloody Ties DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human is Out Now!

Celebrate with us the release of the first story-driven DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human. This time, the players will be able to visit the Carnage Hall - an old opera house turned fighting arena. The encounters will pose a real challenge, suitable for the most seasoned Pilgrims. However, this expansion is not only about a bloodsport tournament. Underneath the action-packed combat lies a deep narrative about power and revenge.

The dangerous show must go on
Carnage Hall is home to all manner of conflicts. In one moment, you might find yourself participating in a relatively small brawl only for you to jump straight into the Spectacle. What are those? Just the biggest fighting performances imaginable where you will not only have to clash with the Infected and other contenders but also perform various tasks to rile up the crowd and properly tell the story - think of it as a very bloody stage play. One of those might even take you back to the days of the crisis in Harran.

Actors of destruction
On your journey, you will meet a wide cast of characters with rich personalities and complicated relationships that drive everything around them. Discover the story of people such as - Astrid (Carnage Hall’s showrunner), Ciro (a young, enthusiastic fighter), and Skullface (the arena’s brutal champion).

Powerful loot
In a place like this, flashy weapons and equipment aren’t just the means of survival. They’re also an important symbol of status. That’s why you’ll need some serious gear to impress the crowd, such as the magnificent Carnage Manica - a special shield capable of withstanding even the heaviest of blows.

Fierce foes
You will also have to face a variety of new types of enemies. The wild Gorilla Demolisher, the dangerous Cataclysm, and the Molotov-throwing Grenadier. All of them, among an entire horde of the Infected and other fighters, will stand on your way to victory.

Dying Light 2 update will bring back the X-ray stun effect

Dying Light 2 made some big changes to the formula established by the first entry in the zombie game series, adding new features and dropping a few others. One of the latter was the bone-crunching X-ray effect you'd see when you stunned an enemy: with the right kind of hit, you'd trigger a slowdown mode and see an infected's skeleton crushed by the impact of your weapon. That feature will be coming to Dying Light 2 in update 1.7.2, which will be available to play November 10 alongside the upcoming story DLC, Bloody Ties.
