So say we all!

Steam has great deals on wargames this weekend

If you're less concerned about 4K graphics than you are about the logistics of getting 12 new divisions up to the front line, you'll want to check out Steam's Slitherine Publisher Sale this weekend. The wargame publisher is running a sale through February 14 on a big list of games from its huge catalogue, and it's a great chance to fill out your DLC library if you're already a dyed-in-the-wool grognard.

Slitherine is perhaps best known for its traditional wargames, but it publishes strategy games from across the spectrum. For this sale, it's marked Warhammer 40K: Battlesector down 35%, putting the price at $25.99 / £20.14. The more 4X-flavoured Warhammer 40K: Gladius - Relics of War is 76% off, making it just $9.59 / £7.49.

For the traditionalists among you, the surprisingly accessible Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe and Strategic Command: World War 1 are both discounted 60% at $15.99 / £11.99. These look intimidating at first, but their friendly interfaces and colourful presentation make them easy to dig into, even if you're a complete newcomer to hex and counter-style wargames.

The best strategy games on PC in 2021

What are the best strategy games on PC? Some would say Command and Conquer, others Civilization VI while yet more still would say "actually, Civ IV was the better ga-" but at that point we'd stop listening because nobody cares. Join us as we explore a curated collection of the genre's greatest hits, from newcomers to classics.

Fun fact: the strategy genre was first invented back in 1938, when Winston Churchill looked out an aeroplane window over France and thought, "Hey, this would make a really cool videogame, whatever that is." Probably. Since then, there have been about a hundred million different strategy games, simulating as many different kinds of fighting as we humans have had reasons to fight one another.

Turn-based or real-time, grand strategy or tactical... this genre is as diverse as they come. But which are the absolute top strategy games on PC? Well, just drag a selection box over our bodies and right-click on the horizon, and we'll find out. We have a strategy editor on our team now, so we can't be wrong. (Editor: could be immediately wrong)

Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ is announced

“Would you like to know more?” is the most frequent comment we received on anything we posted in the last twelve months. Alongside “Desire to know more intensifies”, of course.

Here’s a way to satisfy your craving for hexes and turns and cunning plans. We’re going to give you a full day of insights, figures, announcements, gameplay sessions, and more. You asked for it; we’re giving it to you, and more.

Tune in on our Twitch channel next May 11th for a full day of presentations. Take a look at the future of Slitherine, its games and take a glance at what is coming next and after.

At Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ we’ll be showing you all of our games scheduled for release in 2021, including the highly anticipated Warhammer 40.000 Battlesector, Starship Troopers: Terran Command, and Distant Worlds 2.

But, as you know, many other things are brewing for you. We have 15 unannounced games, and we’ll be unveiling 4 of them on May 11th. Make sure not to miss out!

If you want more details, check out yesterday’s Tea Time, where Marco shared the first information about this big event. Also, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter; where we’ll be revealing more of the program in the next few weeks.
