KARDS - The WWII Card Game News

Hello Kards community!

It is time for our third collaboration with Kards community creators with the next installment of the Coach a Dev series.



[h3]Previous sessions[/h3]
So far Olikrummi, has been coached two times already. The first was about how to build a strong deck on a new account by Spooz. The second coaching session was all about how to crush in Draft mode by Blue_Blast.

[h3]Next Coach a Dev: June 24th at 16:00 UTC with Darkness[/h3]
Now it’s time to kick things up a notch and look at the high level gameplay at the very top of the ladder and what goes into crafting a world class KARDS deck! Who better to help out with this than the man that has lived at the top of the ladder longer than anyone else, Darkness!

Exciting news! The first five World War II single-player campaigns will become available with our new KARDS expansion Theaters of War on June 30th. Pre-order available on June 19th!



The expansion also adds 40 new cards that can be unlocked as you complete the campaigns, bringing further depth and strategy to the battlefield.

[h3]Historically accurate WW2 campaigns[/h3]
Theaters of War adds a series of five single-player campaigns, recreating some of the most iconic battles of the Second World War.

KARDS five main nations - Britain, Germany, Japan, USA, and the Soviet Union - each receive their own unique campaign in the Theaters of War expansion. Each campaign offers three different strategies to achieve operational success and can vastly change the approach to victory.

As you progress through the campaign, you will improve your units to tackle what is to come and to provide multiple paths to success.

The combination of different strategies and units to upgrade provides a fun and engaging replay value for each campaign.

[h3]Exclusive Headquarters with Theaters of War[/h3]
Playing through each of the Theatres of War campaigns, you will be able to unlock exclusive cards for each of the main nations. Among these cards are new HQs that correspond to the locations of each campaign.

These special HQs will transform the playboard as the game takes you from the sandy dunes of Africa to the snowy tundra of the Soviet winter, adding a fresh feel to the clashes on the battlefield.


[h3]Pre-purchase available now[/h3]
You can now pre-purchase Theaters of War from the KARDS shop in-game. This will get you instant access to:

• One new Theaters of War card back
  
• Five Elite Cards from the expansion
  

Once the Theater of War expansion has been published on June 30th, you will receive access to all five campaigns and, as you play through the campaigns, one new card back per campaign.

The elite cards included in the pre-purchase can be used right away.

You can pre-purchase the campaign bundle from June 19th to 29th. After June 30th, you can purchase the campaigns as a bundle or individually, but won't have the early-access advantage to the elite cards any more.

[h3]Spoiler Season ahead[/h3]
The first five cards of the new expansion have already been revealed during the recent Officer Club Championship broadcast. The best KARDS players had the chance to discuss the impact of these cards. Check out their verdict yourself!

That was just the beginning!


Leading up to the expansion on June 30th, some of the forty new upcoming cards will be revealed on live streams and videos. Keep an eye out for these reveals and follow the discussions on social media, Steam forums, and Discord chat.

This release delivers bug fixes, card balance changes, and especially introduces the pre-order for the upcoming Theaters of War single-player campaigns. The update was published on June 19th.



[h3]Theaters of War Pre-order[/h3]

• The long-awaited single-player campaigns are around the corner and will become available with the Theaters of War expansion on June 30th.
  
  You can already pre-order the campaign bundle with all five campaigns. Pre-ordering the bundle gives you instant access to five Elite cards from Theaters of War and the card back. On June 30th, you'll get access to the campaigns themselves.

[h3]Card balance changes[/h3]

• BLOCKADE: Units in enemy hand increase cost by +1 (was: cost of all cards and not just units increased by one).
  

[h3]Bug fixes[/h3]

• The buff from Sd KFz 222 was sometimes wrong when adjacent units were retreated. Fixed
  
• LIBERATION was not giving the HQ defense when the enemy’s hand was full. Fixed
  
• Selecting the second page of your decks didn't work as it should. Fixed.

Join the first-ever Officers Club Championship (OCC) broadcast on the 17th of June from 15:00 - 22:00 UTC. Enjoy this action-covered tournament commentated by community casters. Experience a unique insight into the highest level of play in KARDS!



In this regular Officer Club Championship - the top eight players of the previous season are qualified - the champions fight for fame and a total of $1000. Note that this is just the start, there is a lot more planned to improve the tournament infrastructure.

Additionally, to this thrilling first Officer Club Championship, we will have the first preview of the upcoming expansion arriving in less than three weeks on the 30th of June. This expansion introduces the first batch of single-player content with a total of five historical campaigns!

We will reveal the first cards from this expansion during the broadcast and get the reactions and theorycrafting from the best KARDS players about these cards.

The KARDS D-Day commemoration event 2020 is completed and resulted in a major success!




[h3]Success in Wave 3 and Final Day[/h3]
The KARDS community has successfully completed all objectives of this event, including the third wave and the final challenge on Sunday. What a fantastic success! Well done! As a result of this community effort, everyone who was logged in at some point during this third wave and Sunday has received the reward of 1 draft ticket + 2 gold and one Seaborne Invasion elite card or its equivalent in resources (you need to recycle it to get the resources).

The rewards have been added to all eligible players on June 15th at 10:00 UTC. Eligible is everyone who was logged in to KARDS at any point between Thursday and Saturday (midnight to midnight UTC) for the Draft ticket and Sunday for Seaborne invasion.

[h3]Background info[/h3]
D-Day was the most massive seaborne invasion in history and started with the Normandy landings on Tuesday, June 6th, 1944. D-Day began the liberation of France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundation for the Allied victory on the Western Front.

We commemorate this historical event in KARDS with our first series of community-wide challenges.

[h3]Contribution and progression[/h3]
During this period, the community received a new objective every day. The daily goal was the same for everyone, this was a community event after all, and tied into the actual events of D-Day.

The D-Day challenges went over ten days which were grouped into three waves and a final day:

• First wave: Friday - Sunday (June 5th - 7th) - COMPLETED 🎖️
  
• Second wave: Monday - Wednesday (June 8th - 10th) - COMPLETED 🎖️
  
• Third wave: Thursday - Saturday (June 11th - June 13th) - COMPLETED 🎖️
  
• Final day: Sunday (June 14th) - COMPLETED 🎖️
  

[h3]Reward payouts[/h3]
These community challenges span ten days and introduced exciting fun while connecting you to the historical events of D-Day.

While the focus of this event was on the historical connection and commemoration of D-Day, rewards were nonetheless good to have.

The community received rewards for completing the objectives of each wave. Since each wave lasts for three days, the community was able to complete up to three daily goals per wave. The rewards were paid out only if all three challenges per wave have been completed.


Rewards will be automatically delivered to your account for the next (work) day.
