Hi Everyone,

We're really sorry so many of you were hitting this "infinity" bug. Unfortunately it was never found during testing. Regardless this hotfix should resolve the bug many players have hit where they enter the portal to the new area and get soft locked.

Fixes

• Fixed issue where the bird would start with water diving particles (they look like chunky rocks) on startup. This was also related to the soft lock.
  
• Fixed woobly stump meshes.

Hi Friends!

We’re pleased to announce that the Explorer Update is now live. Along with this update the game is now available on both Xbox One and PS4 which means you’ll be seeing lots of new birds around!!

[h2]Major New Additions for this Update[/h2]
Full Crossplay with all platforms including the new PS4 and Xbox One releases!

A new area has been added to the game, it’s hidden within the islands so have fun finding it.

Added 4 new birds to find

Added Mac Support (we did the proper thing so it doesn’t show the scary dialogue box when you open it)

Along with the new area are 6 new songs to discover, listen to the new soundtrack outside of the game here.


Improvements

• Added small details to the existing islands
  
• New weather conditions have started occurring, on some days it will get really windy.
  
• New procedural spawning allows us to spawn way more small grass/shrubs on the surface of the island.
  
• Added more perchable areas to the existing map
  
• Resolution settings are now much more compressed (the extended list is available using a launch command)
  
• The camera is now less likely to freak out as much when diving at extreme angles
  
• Added smooth crossfading to some previously noticeable popping assets
  
• Added wing flap sound triggers to all bird flap animations
  
• Wind trails will be slightly smoother now
  
• Added different fish to be caught
  

Bug Fixes

• Audio settings should now properly apply when loading the game
  
• Hitting start too early when the game starts will no longer soft lock the game
  
• Bird trails no longer emit when rewinding after a crash
  
• You should no longer catch fish when rewinding after a crash
  
• Fixed many audio sources playing at zero volume and hogging audio channels fixing some sounds not playing when they should
  
• Controller should no longer vibrate if the keyboard is in use
  
• Fixed issue where shapeshifting runes would not reset properly unless the game was restarted
  

Experimental
-renderer launch option replaced with -newrenderer , this can improve performance for some users, but has much lower compatibility on older GPUs

Along with these updates the game is now available on both Xbox One and PS4 which means you’ll be seeing lots of new birds around. A new patch is now available - it’s the island you love, but with more! Find your favourite bird and explore the new additions to the island in style.

Features

• Added a new region to the island
  
• Added bird customisation! You can now find runes around the island that will allow you to transform into new birds.
  

Improvements

• Reworked the rocks near the geyser
  
• Polished ocean horizon visual
  
• The geyser now pushes you up if you’re inside it while it erupts
  
• The forest ambient sound now has less ambient birds
  
• Added fog gates to make transition into/out of caves look better

Hi Everyone,

To coincide with our Japanese Switch release we've added an update to Feather which adds Japanese localisation to the game. In addition to this we've done some minor fixes while we continue to work on upcoming content.

• Added Japanese Localization
  
• Fixed cloud fly-through effect
  
• Fixed patches of rain sticking around after a rainy day
  
• Added a slight delay after perching to avoid taking off again.
  
• Small performance improvements
  
• Fixed mouse free look inversion toggle not working
