Heroes and Pactsworn!

This update brings a new dangerous toy for the Pactsworn side in Versus: A new playable monster, the Rat Ogre!

When the time comes for a Monster to spawn in a Versus match, Pactsworn players can choose between the Bile Troll and the Rat Ogre. While both are monsters, their way of assaulting the Hero team is very different, and so it is up to the players to choose the right tool for the job (or just the most fun!)

The Rat Ogre’s specialty is scrambling the Hero team through a frenzied assault. It excels at separating the Heroes and taking advantage of the chaos to chase after stragglers, pummeling away with wild, ferocious attacks that don’t give the defender room to breathe.
How to play the Rat Ogre
Similar to the Bile Troll and the Heroes, you’ve got light attacks and heavy attacks. Tapping your attack button (Default Keybind: Left Mouse Click) results in a series of fast but powerful attacks. Holding down the attack button results in a Heavy Attack, a downward slam with both fists that deals massive damage but is tricky to pull off!

Holding the secondary attack button (Default Keybind: Right Mouse Click) allows the Rat Ogre to prepare to Leap! Charge the leap for a short while and then aim. Once charged, you can release the button to launch yourself through the air, knocking any Heroes you land upon away and sending them flying all over. Perfect for making a dramatic entrance and throwing those pesky Heroes into disarray.

You can also find this information in the in-game Handbook!
What’s next?
We’re super excited about the release of Versus, it was a massive milestone for a project that we love and we’re glad that it’s been overall a fun time and well-received by the community!

But what’s next for Versus? Beyond the Rat Ogre, we’re looking to add more little things and tinker a bit more in the coming year! There’s a lot of very valid feedback that you guys have given that we want to address and we hope to be able to do that bit by bit in 2025. There are also small additions planned, such as Custom Settings to player-hosted games.

Other than Versus, we’ll continue working on the rest of the Verminous Dreams campaign maps (hope you’ve been having fun with The Forsaken Temple!), as well as a previously mentioned Weapon Pack which is still in the pipeline. Beyond that, well, we can’t reveal everything, can we?

Barring hotfixes, this will be the last Vermintide 2 update of the year, and what a blast it has been!

We hope you enjoy the Holidays and the Gifts of the Wolf Father, and we hope you’ve had as much fun with this game this year as we have! See you next year, drengbarazi.
- The Vermintide 2 Team.

Patch 6.2.0 patch notes

As a heads up, due to a sudden issue with our patch building process, this update will be around a 25 gb download on PC. We apologize once again for the inconvenience, we thought we had seen the last of it. We’ll continue investigating to hopefully avoid more patches like these in the future.
An update regarding the data loss issue:
Hey all, just checking in again with a progress update and some further information to share.

Our backend developers have a 3-step plan to restore the missing data:

 • Stage 1: Gather and collate account data from storages we have, and transfer this to another system which will be used for rebuilding missing account data
 • Stage 2: Conduct some wizardry in this system to organise the data (e.g. get the latest/highest/correct value for each statistic for each player) and prep it for being merged back in to our backend data
 • Stage 3: Update the backend and merge the rebuilt data into existing account data.

Stage 1 is in full swing and data is currently being downloaded and transferred to our system required to rebuild the missing data. This is a tremendous amount of account data, and will take some time to complete. We’re exploring whether we can scale this process up and complete it any faster, but for now an approximate estimate is that this stage will take a few weeks to complete.

Please bear with us, and we’ll continue to provide updates when we have more to share.

A big thank you for your continued patience during this process.

Versus Spotlight - Bardin Goreksson & Warpfire Thrower

Heroes and Pactsworn!

Welcome to the last out of five weekends of the Versus Spotlight events. Every week, we’ll take a closer look at one of the Ubersreik 5 and one of the Pactsworn Specials. Unlock unique time-limited rewards, learn more about the spotlight Hero and Skaven, and do it all while having fun. This week's spotlight will be on the hearty Bardin and the nasty Warpfire Thrower!
Previous Spotlight's Rewards
As said in the the previous post, we changed the end date for the event from Sunday to Wednesday, which was more than enough to reach and beat the new ambitious target of 250K kills!

The rewards for the previous spotlight were delivered yesterday, so check your inventory! As a note, the Hero Pose might take a few restarts before it applies properly to your account. Sorry about that!

Congrats to everyone for your continued hard work! Now just the final stretch!

This Week's Rewards

There are unique rewards to unlock weekly, all earned by the community as a whole through completion of the Kill-Counter. There are currency rewards, portrait frames, skins, and weapon poses to be earned.

Bardin Goreksson & Warpfire Thrower Spotlight rewards will be earnable between December 12 - December 18. All rewards will be granted after the end of the spotlight.
Kill-Counter
Rally together as community to eliminate Heroes in Versus to complete the Kill-counter. If the community completes the counter, you will all unlock:
 • An exclusive skin for the Warpfire Thrower!
 • 120 shillings.
 • 100 Helmgart Sellsword Marks.
 • A brand new Portrait frame.
 • A Hero Pose for Bardin!
Bardin Goreksson
Bardin Goreksson introduced himself to the world as an unstoppable avalanche on the battlefield, an ale-swigging hurricane at the inn, and a steadfast friend by the campfire. A bulwark of comradeliness and good cheer, Bardin became the glue binding our unlikely band of heroes.

Learn more about Bardin Goreksson here!
The Warpfire Thrower
The The Warpfire Thrower is whispered of in many quarters – chiefly for the horrors it has wrought in the cramped confines of dwarfen holds. With the smouldering projector aimed, the simple flip of a switch births roiling clouds of warpfire that scours all from the gunner’s path.

Heroes!

Today we bring you a brand new mission: The Forsaken Temple! This FREE mission is the first of three maps in the brand new ‘Verminous Dreams’ campaign.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3283440/Warhammer_Vermintide_2__Verminous_Dreams/

Tipped off by an otherworldly visit, Lohner’s investigations have led to the discovery of Skaven around the ruins of an ancient elven temple, possibly one that was rumored to not even exist. What could the Pactsworn be looking for in these mythical ruins?

Better stop them regardless, Heroes! Can’t be anything good.
Gifts of the Wolf Father
And of course, this December will also mark the return of the Gifts of the Wolf Father! He’s got an exciting bag of goodies to share with you all this year!

How it works: Starting today and until January 3rd, every day you jump on Vermintide 2, you can access Lohner’s Emporium to claim that day’s Gift*. There’ll be cosmetics, illusions, coins, frames, and all sorts of goodies!

There might even be a very, very special hat that makes its long-awaited, fishy return!

Today’s gift, you might ask?

*: You may also claim the gifts from two days prior, as a small buffer to make things a bit more flexible.
Upcoming playable monster: Rat Ogre - December 17
We also wanted to give you guys a taste of what’s coming next for Versus!

Coming December 17th, the Pactsworn are going to get another fun toy to torment the Hero team: The Rat Ogre will be a playable monster before the end of the year!
New Premium Cosmetics: The Mythic Masquerade
Can’t just let you guys go on a brand new Adventure without some brand new swagger to show off, ey?

This bundle of Premium Cosmetics, purchasable directly from Lohner’s Emporium, has a fantastic set of new cosmetics inspired by iconic characters from Warhammer Fantasy!
Gotrek Gurnisson
Our dear Bardin gets to look even more fierce than usual with this intimidating outfit fashioned after the most deadly of all slayers: Gotrek Gurnisson. Available only to Bardin’s Slayer career.
Felix Jaeger
Of course, we can’t have Gotrek without Felix! Kruber gets to accompany his best buddy in with this dashing outfit inspired by Gotrek’s faithful companion, Felix Jaeger! Available only to Markus’ Mercenary career.
Count Boris Todbringer
Proving that he ALSO can sport a magnificent beard, the imposing Count Boris Todbringer-inspired hero skin is equipable by Saltzpyre’s Bounty Hunter career.
Naieth the Prophetess
Delving into mysticism, Kerillian has access to an outfit inspired by Naieth the Prophetess, equipable on all of Kerillian’s careers.
Isabella Von Carstein
With a sudden propensity for walking around with a cup of wine (at least, we think it’s wine!), Sienna gets a new regal look with this armour inspired by Isabella Von Carstein. This hero skin are equipable on her Pyromancer and Necromancer careers.

Edit December 10th: As a final note: unlike most cosmetic sets, the Mythical Masquerade cosmetics are all one-piece cosmetics, instead of being separated into hero skin and hat.
Developer stream: December 9th, 17:00 CET!
Don’t forget to tune into our twitch stream today, at 17:00 CET! Developers Anton, Theodor and Tom are going to go over the new DLC, play the new map, and talk a little bit about what’s next for Vermintide, including both Versus and PvE.
Versus Spotlight: Week 4 extension
Perhaps we overshot a bit when adjusting the kill counter target! We were so impressed with your performance in the first weeks that we got a bit overambitious for the new one.

In the spirit of giving during this Gifts of the Wolf father, we’re extending the period to reach the kill counter from Sunday to Wednesday. Make sure to reach the target of 250.000 Heroes killed in Versus before the next spotlight starts, or you really might miss out on the rewards!

Without further ado…

The Forsaken Temple: FREE New Map releasing next week!

"I don't know what they want with it, but if even half the stories of Athel Lithri are true, you better go up there and stop them."

Heroes!

We've been teasing it for a while now, but it's finally time to reveal the next step in the Ubersreik 5's adventure! The first of three missions in the new Verminous Dreams campaign, 'The Forsaken Temple' is coming out next week, free on all platforms!
The Forsaken Temple
Devoted readers of Lohner's Chronicles (spying on someone's personal journal is very rude, by the way) would know that dear Franz was recently visited by an Elf of the Divine persuasion, who gave him a cryptic warning of things to come.

While he never spoke a word about this to our Heroes, his investigations nonetheless led him to uncover hints of Skaven presence in the ruins of what could be an ancient and even mythical Elven temple: Athel Lithri.

Whatever it is that the Pactsworn plan to do with that temple, it can't be anything good. Time for our Heroes to take a peek and hopefully put a swift end to any verminous schemes going on there.
New upcoming Premium Hero Cosmetics: The Mythical Masquerade
Just in time for the new adventure, Lohner got a glorious shipment of new outfits and hats, all inspired by some of the most iconic characters from Warhammer Fantasy!

 • Bardin and Kruber get to pair up as an iconic duo, wearing vestments inspired by Gotrek Gurnisson and Felix Jaeger! These hero skins and hats are equipable on Bardin’s Slayer career and Kruber’s Mercenary career, respectively.
 • Proving that he ALSO can sport a magnificent beard, the imposing Count Boris Todbringer-inspired hero skin and hat are equipable by Saltzpyre’s Bounty Hunter career.
 • Delving into mysticism, Kerillian has access to an outfit inspired by Naieth the Prophetess, equipable on all of Kerillian’s careers.
 • With a sudden propensity for walking around with a cup of wine (at least, we think it’s wine!), Sienna gets a new regal look with this armour inspired by Isabella Von Carstein. This hero skin and hat are equipable on her Pyromancer and Necromancer careers.
