If you are new to the game or eying to get into it and don't have anyone to play with - the holiday season is one of the best times to get started!

On one hand the online queues will be a bit more populated than usual from the sale, but perhaps more importantly: The next New Player Challenge is on Saturday, January 4.
And here is how you can make the most of it:

1. sign up for it on challonge
   • take note of other players that signed up
2. join the community discord server and submit your game hours
   • seek out other participants and play with them until the tournament
     
   • dip your toes into the ranked queue for inspiration
     
   • chat with veterans for advice
3. play in the tournament!
   • win a DLC outfit of your choice by placing among the top 3
     
   • review your performance with commentary, if one of your rounds appeared on stream (here)

Don't have the time on that particular weekend? The community hosts these every month!
However the DLC outfit of choice is usually reserved for first place.

Season 13 will be archived today, starting the next ranked season 14, which in turn runs until June 4!

If you are new to playing competitively, I highly recommend entering the ranked queue during a sale, when other new players are joining in. Outside of that, the regularly hosted NPC tournaments are the best entry point.
