The International 2022 Swag Bag

The International playoffs are in the books, and four standout teams have survived with dreams of claiming the Aegis still intact. As we all catch our breaths during this interlude between the nail-biting action, we'd like to take a moment to focus our attention towards Dota players all around the world, not just those competing on stage in Singapore.

As we announced in June with the Battle Report update, our goal is to harness the excitement of The International Grand Finals and ensure that the days and weeks following the event's conclusion offer fans the very best time to play Dota.

To that end, today we're unveiling The International 2022 Swag Bag, a free giveaway for all Dota players. Log in now — or anytime before the Battle Pass ends — to claim your three rewards:

  • One month of Dota Plus.
  • A Level 1 Battle Pass, redeemable for 24 Battle Levels if you already own a Battle Pass.
  • Your choice of one Arcana from any available on the Dota 2 store.

Starting today these rewards are available to all Dota players that play (or have played) at least 10 matches during the Battle Pass season, and will continue to be available to claim until the end of the season in January.

Like everyone in the community, we can't wait to watch the best Dota players in the world compete for the Aegis of Champions this weekend, October 28-29. Plug in over at dota2.com/esports to follow the final push. Then, once the champions have earned their crowns, make sure to stay tuned for the release of Part II of the Battle Pass — arriving November 3rd to introduce a new Diretide event mode, the Candyworks, new 'Conduit of the Blueheart' Crystal Maiden persona, and more.

The International 2022 Playoffs Recap

The International 2022 Playoffs are now complete, and of the sixteen teams that started in the quest for the Aegis of Champions, only four contenders remain. Congratulations to Team Secret, Tundra Esports, Team Aster, and Team Liquid, who all now prepare to face each other in the Finals. Catch the highlights of each team's run through the brackets as well as some key moments from the playoffs with our Top Plays recap video.

The storyline of the tournament so far has been one of upsets and new blood. Evil Geniuses, so dominant in the Group Stage, went winless on the main stage against a surging Thunder Awaken and then Beastcoast — marking a clear rise in the stature of South American Dota. The defending champions Team Spirit lost to upstarts BOOM Esports. Perennial powerhouses PSG.LGD fell to the lower bracket against an impressive Team Secret, and were eventually knocked out by their regional rival Team Aster. RNG and Entity made history with the longest Main Stage match ever at The International with an intense 107-minute slugfest featuring a position-five Ancient Apparition packing two Divine Rapiers.

The past week has seen far too many amazing Dota moments to sufficiently summarize in a few short paragraphs, so we invite everyone to relive all the ups and downs of the tourney so far — ready and waiting with all of the VODs uploaded to the Dota 2 Youtube, or accessible directly from the Dota Esports portal.

Join together with fans from around the world to witness the stunning conclusion to this year's journey to The International.

Dota 2 TI 2022 viewership hits rock bottom, fans blame Valve

The Dota 2 TI 2022 viewership stats are pretty harrowing, with TI11 failing to come anywhere close to the popularity of rival MOBA, League of Legends. Post-group stage, players have been quick to voice their frustrations over Valve's tournament management, possibly explaining why the stats are so low.
