Dota 2's International Battle Pass is here - with guilds, new mode, Battle Gauntlet, more

The 2020 edition of the Dota 2 International, the MOBA game's biggest annual tournament, might have been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, but Valve still has a hefty battle pass packed with new content for fans to sink their pearly white teeth into. This year's Dota 2 International pass has landed, bringing a hearty batch of new features and rewards to the game.

As posted by Valve on the multiplayer game's site, there's a huge new feature in the battle pass: Guilds. "There's nothing more satisfying than smashing an Ancient with a great group of friends, and then doing the same thing again and again," the studio posts. As you'd expect, the new feature lets you group up with a bunch of pals to "ensure that you always have the right team at your back on that road to victory".

The all-new feature offers daily contracts, challenges, and even a chat system via Steam for your Guild. Earn points as a Guild and you'll get access to special rewards, like "emoticons, bonus challenges, in-game Guild Banner upgrades, Battle Pass bonuses, and more."

The International 10 Battle Pass

The International Battle Pass has arrived, ready to fill your summer with the epic trappings of Dota and unveil an overflowing vault of seasonal features, effects, and extraordinary rewards. Check out the full Battle Pass website to dive into everything in store.

You'll be able to create Guilds and undertake group assignments; face a new daily dose of competitive Dota in the Battle Gauntlet; and eliminate specific enemy heroes for special Bounty Killing bonuses. With prizes awaiting you on the rewards line like a custom terrain; two hero-bending Pudge and Anti-Mage Personas; three new Arcana items for Wraith King, Queen of Pain, and Windranger; and so much more, the most-anticipated season in Dota has now begun.

Please note that Immortal items from The International 10 Battle Pass—including Ultra Rares—cannot be traded or marketed until The International 11 Battle Pass concludes. Until then, each item can be gifted once.

As for The International itself, we will continue to monitor the global situation and will announce new dates when we can be confident in our ability to deliver a safe and uncompromised tournament for the players and fans. As always, 25% of all Battle Pass sales will go directly to the prize pool of this event.

The International

After extensive consideration of the global health emergency stemming from COVID-19, we have made the difficult choice to delay The International. We have been exploring various date possibilities, but it is likely that the event will need to happen in 2021. Given the highly volatile landscape for local gathering restrictions, virus trajectory, and global travel policies, we don't expect to have enough confidence to communicate firm dates in the near future. In the meantime, we are working on restructuring the DPC season for the fall, and will be providing more information as soon as we have it.

The 10th International prize pool will be funded by 25% of sales of the next Battle Pass, which we are planning to release soon instead of closer to the event itself. However, with our team working from home and things taking longer to complete, the release date of the Battle Pass will be at least a couple of weeks later than usual.

We hope everyone in the Dota community is staying as safe as possible, and look forward to a time when we can once again welcome everyone to enjoy the spectacle of The International.
