Patch 0.5.1

Happy New Year everybody!


Patch notes for Update 0.5.1:

- Added Performance Mode for custom maps inside the advanced options (Activate/Deactivate before joining). This will greatly improve performance on custom maps.
- Added TextureStreaming as default to reduce loading times (can be deactivated inside the options)
- Added .ini files to edit options easier from outside the game
- Fixed some issue where ForceFields could have wrong values when loading
- Improved ForceFields to be more consistent on different FPS
- Improved loading times
- Removed Christmas theme and drops (the assets are still available in the editor)
- Various other fixes/improvements.

Winter Update 0.5.0

Winter has come to Golf it! and brings special Hats, Trails and Editor Items with it. For this update we've put our focus on improving the Editor and the overall game experience.



Editor Update


You don't wanna play these static maps any longer? We are happy to introduce the Eventsystem - one of the greatest features for the editor we've released so far!



The Eventsystem allows to create more dynamic maps than ever before. When a player enters or leaves an event zone dozens of actions can get triggered, which will affect lanes, meshes, rotators, lights, boosts, teleporter and so on.



We have also added Forcefields to the editor, which can be used as magnets, gravitiy zones and much more.



We are more than excited to see your dynamic map creations.

Game Refactoring


One of our major concerns is to optimize features which are already in place. This time we've completely redesigned our golf ball mechanics, to make our gameplay more smooth and pleasant, but still being as skilled-based as before.

Another complete overhaul happend to our particle system, which means that we have heavily improved every single trail. So you may need to test every trail again to redefine your favorite one.

- Added name of the current map to the scoreboard.
- Added visible light radius to the editor.
- Added warnings to the editor when lights are overlapping.
- Added LOD's to some objects.
- Improved camera visibility.
- Improved performance with custom assets.
- Improved loading time greatly while using custom assets. (existing maps need to be saved again)
- Improved visuals for custom assets by adding an optional tangent/normal calculation while importing.
- Improved materials for custom assets allowing translucent and emissive options.
- Improved performance on various different gameplay mechanics.
- Improved editor when pressing middle mouse button will now place objects in hand instead of overwriting them, allowing for faster placement of the same object.
