PUBG players on PC were incorrectly banned due to an update bug

A client update for the PC version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds left a number of players scratching their heads when they discovered they had been banned from the battle royale game. It turns out that a bug in the update process had caused the bans, and the developer says it's working to reverse the effects.

"Earlier today some players were impacted by incorrect bans caused by a file validation error after a client update," Krafton explained in a tweet to the official PUBG account today. "The error which caused these bans has been identified and resolved." About 90 minutes later, the company tweeted that all of the incorrect bans had been reversed.

Of course, simply reversing a ban doesn't fix the problem - players' reputation scores were impacted as well, and it took Krafton another several hours to restore the accounts to their pre-ban reputation levels. The developer says it has granted every player struck by the incorrect ban and reputation score hit a free 5 Levels Survivor Pass Coupon.

PUBG Season 11 kicks off next week

PUBG is getting a new season of content, tweaks, and map changes soon. Krafton has revealed that Season 11 begins on March 31 for PC before coming to consoles on April 8.

Update 11.1 is already on the PTR, too, so you can test everything out if you hang your hat in the realms of PC gaming. The headline feature this time around is the reintroduction of the Paramo map. We initially saw it arrive in PUBG late last year, and it's been brought back by popular demand. It's much the same map you'll remember, but it comes with terrain improvements, an expanded dynamic world system that modifies major landmarks between matches, and increased spawn rates in the secret room and for the care package helicopter. You can also create custom games with the map if you're feeling inventive.

We're also getting a new lootable item this season called Emergency Pickup. It comes in handy if you're stuck in the storm (hey, it happens) and need to get out ASAP. The item allows you to call a fulton balloon you can hook yourself to once a plane arrives. The plane will then whisk you and the squad into safety so you can carry on hunting down that chicken dinner.

PUBG Season 11 brings Paramo back to the battle royale game

A familiar sight returns to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds with the start of Season 11 of ranked play. The PUBG team has posted the update 11.1 patch notes to its website, and amongst them we see that Paramo is making its return this coming season. The update is on the PTR on PC, too, so you can give it a whirl to see what it's all about.

You can play Paramo in normal and custom matches, though we're waving goodbye to Haven and Karakin. Paramo still has its random elements, but you'll notice that one extra randomised location is now a possibility. The devs have also increased the secret room and care package helicopter's spawn rates, while fields now have more cover.

The PUBG team also explains that it's limiting the number of playable maps to five from update 11.1 onwards. While the group enjoys making new maps, they're making matchmaking and map rotation a "pretty difficult task". The dev adds: "We know that our players have very different tastes when it comes to map size, but the consensus has generally been in favour of the large 8×8 maps.
