Hello Survivors!

How has 2021 been for you? For us, this year has been a blast with all the Special Drops events we have gone through. We had the Ground Zero watching, ‘Sonny’ Heung-Min Son Item Event that gained massive attention. The Special Drops Summer Season and Rabbits on the Moon along with the Contraband Coupon Event also generated a great amount of love from all you survivors. 

You might think we’ll all be away for the end-of-year season and get lazy with events? No way, that’s not us. You better watch out ’cause we’re telling you why. Another round of Special Drops is coming to town! Check out the full details now and make them all yours because we’ve prepared them all just for you. 
[h3]Special Drops[/h3]
There will be two Special Drops events happening throughout December and early January 2022 for both PC and Console platforms.

Special Drops 1: End-of-Year Special Drops Event

• PC & Console
  • PST: December 16, 11 PM – December 30, 11 PM
  • CET: December 17, 8 AM – December 31, 8 AM
  • KST: December 17, 4 PM – December 31, 4 PM

Special Drops 2: New Year Special Drops Event

• PC & Console
  • PST: December 30 2021, 11 PM – January 8 2022, 11 PM
  • CET: December 31 2021, 8 AM – January 9 2022, 8 AM
  • KST: December 31 2021, 4 PM – January 9 2022, 4 PM

Here are some notes to keep in mind for Partner Drops:

※ You’ll be able to receive drops through our PUBG: Battlegrounds Partners only.

※ The rewards for each week will no longer be distributed once the date for a specific week ends.

※ In order to receive the rewards, you must have a KRAFTON ID and link it to your gaming platform AND to Twitch/each region’s streaming platform.

※ Korea, China, and Thailand viewers will be receiving redeem codes instead of drops due to their different streaming platforms.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Team

Hello Survivors!

Don’t worry about your Christmas date this year, as Winter Race is here to accompany you in this cold season. Select your vehicle, streak through thrilling race tracks, and enjoy Vikendi’s cool wind whipping at your face as you drive your way to victory!

[h3]Race Preparation[/h3]



You’ll first need a vehicle to start racing! Select the vehicle of your choice during the race countdown by comparing each vehicle’s speed and durability.

• Available vehicles: Motorbike, Pickup, Coupe RB, Quad, Zima
• Each vehicle provides its own weapon and a set of equipment.

[h3]Race Tracks[/h3]



In every match, players will play in a randomly selected racetrack among the five shown above.

• Tracks
  • Track 1: A straight line track starting from the starting line to the finishing line.
  • Track 2: A circular track requiring players to finish 2 laps to complete the race.
  • Track 3: A square track requiring players to finish 2 laps to complete the race.
  • Track 4: A track requiring players to return to the starting line to complete the race.
  • Track 5: A frozen straight line track starting from the starting line to the finishing line.
• Checkpoints
  • Players will have to drive through several checkpoints during the race.
  • If players go off-track for too long, they will be automatically respawned to their recent checkpoint.

[h3]Race Start[/h3]



Once the countdown’s over, the race finally begins!

• Every player will spawn in their vehicles on the starting line.
• You won’t be able to move or attack other players until the race officially starts.
• Players will be invincible for 10 seconds at the very beginning and 5 seconds after each respawn to prevent instant deaths.
• Race forward once the match starts! Attack or avoid enemies until the finishing line!

[h3]Item Crates[/h3]



Pick up crates that’ll bestow you various weapons, items, and speed boosts to fire up the competition even more!

• Crates will respawn shortly after being collected.
• Ammo Crates
  • Blue ammo crates provide a specific amount of ammo for your equipped weapon. Press 3 (PC) / X Hold (Xbox, Stadia) / Square Button Hold (PlayStation®) to use equipped weapon.
• Boost Crates
  • Red boost crates provide speed boosts and weapons for vehicles.
  • Speed boosts are usable with the Shift key.
    • To balance out vehicles’ speeds, motorbikes will not be able to use speed boosts.
  • Obtainable weapons for vehicles
    • The Pickup, Coupe RB, and Zima can equip weapons to inflict damage by colliding with other vehicles.
    • The Quad can equip protective gear to block damage from other vehicles or weapons.
    • To balance out vehicles’ gameplay, motorbikes will not be able to equip weapons.

• Throwables Crates
  • Purple boost crates provide various throwables.
  • Obtainable throwables: Grenades, smoke grenades, sticky bombs, spike traps - Press 5 (PC) / Right D-Pad (Console) to use throwables.
• Red Zone Crates
  • Black crates that will create a Red Zone lasting a few seconds in the next checkpoint area the player running first place is heading for.
  • Red Zone crates will spawn after the player running first place passes a checkpoint.
  • Red Zone crates will not respawn after being collected.
• Weapon Crates
  • Yellow weapon crates provide ammo for the ice flare gun. Press 1 (PC) / X Hold (Xbox, Stadia) / Square Button Hold (PlayStation®) to use the ice flare gun.

[h3]Race Finale[/h3]



The first player to successfully cross the finishing line wins the whole race for their squad!

The whole race will end 60 seconds after the winner crosses the finishing line.

LABS: Winter Race will be open during the following period.

  • PST: December 14, 9 PM – December 26, 11 PM
  • CET: December 15, 6 AM – December 27, 8 AM
  • KST: December 15, 2 PM – December 27, 4 PM

[h2]Gameplay Settings[/h2]

  • Map: Vikendi
  • TPP Only
  • Max. number of players: 5 Squads of 4 (Max. 20 players per match)
  • Only supports 4-Man Squads
    • It will automatically find teammates for you if you’re not a full squad.
    • Every player can participate in Winter Race custom matches, but only PUBG Partners will be granted the right to create a session. 
      • Custom matches will support Squad and Solo mode.
• Console
  • Map: Vikendi
  • TPP Only
  • Max. number of players: 4 Squads of 4 (Max. 16 players per match)
  • Only supports 4-Man Squads
    • It will automatically find teammates for you if you’re not a full squad.

[h2]Notes on LABS Mode[/h2]

• LABS games DO NOT…
  • Provide XP or gameplay rewards.
  • Affect your Career page.
  • Affect your Match History.
  • Support replay.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Team 

PUBG Battlegrounds is going free-to-play in January 2022. The low admission fee of zero pounds was announced at The Game Awards, which is a pretty good deal if you’re looking to participate in a battle royale that’s still very much alive and kicking. Players can also pay for Battlegrounds Plus, an account upgrade that’ll net you some extra in-game unlocks. And don't worry, if you already own the game you'll get that upgrade for free.

PUBG, one of the original battle royale games that popularized the genre, is transitioning to a free-to-play model on January 12, 2022. Announced during The Game Awards, this news comes five years after the game’s initial release into early access on PC, before it expanded to multiple other platforms.

As a replacement for the premium model, PUBG will receive an optional premium account upgrade called Battlegrounds Plus. This one-time purchase provides access to a selection of additional features otherwise not available to those with a free Basic account.
