PUBG's new, pyjama-themed Survivor Pass is here

Update - April 28, 2021: The new PUBG update is live.

PUBG's 11.2 patch has come to PC and, boy, is it a big one. Alongside all the usual tweaks and bug fixes, we've got the new Survivor Pass, nerfs for drive-by shooting, and some redesign work for Erangel's bridges.

PUBG Studio has themed PUBG's new Survival Pass around a pyjama party, which feels oddly on point given that most of us have spent the last year in our pyjamas. You've got 30 rewards to pick up over 50 levels of tiers you can grind by earning XP in matches or completing missions. Cosmetics include pyjama-themed skins for your weapons - like the AUG - and outfits for yourself. Survivor Pass: Pajama Party kicks off today and ends on June 9. There's no grace period anymore, so make sure you pick up your gear.

PUBG's pesky drive-by tactic has also been nerfed. In-vehicle recoil for weapons has been bumped up by 10%, though this doesn't apply to sidearms. If you've been out of the loop, passenger stability in vehicles was buffed in a previous update. Combating players in cars became tricky as, well, they can fire upon you with no recoil while being hard to hit themselves.

PUBG 2: release date, rumours, platforms, and more

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was one of the first stand alone battle royale games. While its popularity may have dipped in the wake of big releases like Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends, PUBG is still the only game that provides realistic gameplay in a modern day setting.

It'll come as no big surprise to hear, then, that a sequel to Brendan Greene's game is planned. Colloquially known as PUBG 2, the game is apparently in the works and will build on the foundations built by the first game.

While Krafton is also working on a number of other projects, including PUBG Mobile, PUBG: New State, and the highly anticipated Callisto Protocol game, PUBG 2 is the only game in that series that'll act as a direct successor and keep far away from the futuristic elements that have so far been teased elsewhere. Sounds good, right? Here's everything you need to know about PUBG 2, including the game's release date, rumours, platforms, and more.

Chatter around PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds may be focused on the 11.2 update, but there's plenty else going on if you're a fan of Krafton's battle royale. We've got a new mode in PUBG Labs that's all about one-shotting enemies and trying to stay alive long enough for your teammates to spawn back in.

The PUBG team explain in a blog post that Respawn Royale is based on two ideas to create a frantic experience for fans on the Paramo map. First up, weapon and throwable damage have been bumped by 500% to create a "one-shot-kill scenario". Naturally, having this feature alone would lead to some swift games, so your teammates will rejoin the fight if you stay alive until their 100-second death timer counts down. Once everyone is eliminated, though, you're out of the game.

The lobby size is reasonably small, with you and your buds taking on up to seven other squads. You'll also have the choice of three different gear spawn kits as weapon looting has been disabled. Don't fret, you can pick a different kit every time you respawn so you can change things up if your current loadout isn't working for you. The blue zone functions as normal, so keep on the move if you try this one out.

LABS: Respawn Royale

Hello Survivors!

This round of PUBG LABS utilizes two different gameplay changes to create a frantic experience for squads on Paramo. The first of which is a 500% damage increase across the board for all weapons and throwables in order to create a one-shot-kill scenario. But fear not, though dying may be easy, so is getting back into the game!

In Respawn Royale, your defeated squadmates will automatically rejoin the fight after their 100 second death timer has counted down. All you need to do is stay alive as a squad until that happens! If at least 1 squad member is still standing when a player’s death timer completes, they will rejoin the fight but be careful - if your squad is wiped completely, you’ll all be eliminated from the match.

Respawn Royale takes place on Paramo with you and up to 7 other squads. To help keep the focus on the action, we’ve also eliminated weapon looting and added the choice of three different spawn kits. This kit can be changed each time you respawn, so keep an eye on the situation your remaining team members find themselves in. The Blue Zone will also still function as normal, so keep on the move!

Update 11.2 - Now Live!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
PUBG Update 11.2 has just dropped, bringing new changes to Erangel's infamous bridges, a new Survivor Pass, balance changes to recoil while riding in a vehicle and more!

First up, you'll notice Erangel's bridges to Sosnovka Island looking a bit different this update. Bridges have been slightly widened, had their cover layout changed slightly, and now have new catwalks to give players more options for engaging or avoiding bridge encounters.

Our new Survivor Pass embraces the outfits we've lived in this pandemic year and brings them to the Battlegrounds with Survivor Pass: Pajama Party. Pick up your pass and start unlocking your favorite work-from-home attire today!

Firing from vehicles has gotten a bit more challenging this update, with a 10% increase to recoil. The goal is to make driveby attacks a bit more difficult, but we'll continue to monitor success rates to see if we need to adjust it any more either way.

PUBG Labs is also launching a new game mode with this update! In Respawn Royale, every shot is lethal but death is not the end. As long as your squad survives long enough, you have a chance to respawn back in and continue the fight. Can your squad outlast and win?

There's plenty more in Update 11.2, so be sure to read the full patch notes for all the details. That's all for now and we'll see you on the Battlegrounds!
