PUBG now has an official lore site

October 15, 2020 The PUBG lore site has now launched.

In July last year, ahead of the battle royale game's Season 4, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds got its first batch of official lore. A cinematic trailer explored the "the first lone survivor of Erangel" - the multiplayer game's setting - and, since then, we've seen other nuggets of PUBG's backstory appear. Now, an official website dedicated to PUBG lore has launched.

Developer PUBG Corp. recently tweeted another 'lore drop' about its new map Paramo (which has just hit the PUBG test server), teasing that there was "more at lore.pubg.com". At the time, the website wasn't fully launched - it just had a background image alongside an option to "get notified" by email of more information when available and was "launching soon" according to a Google search of the site. But now, there's plenty more to check out.

"You want to know more about the Battlegrounds, right?", the site's 'welcome' page reads. "Who runs them? Why? What is a 'chicken dinner'? Well, you've come to the right place.

PUBG Season 9 has a new map with an active volcano

It's never good to stay in one location for long periods of time in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, but if you do in Season 9 - you'll certainly feel it. That's because the game is getting a new battleground to fight over and it's set around a super active volcano.

Paramo is PUBG's first dynamic map making each and every trip there unique. According to the patch notes, locations will change between matches, forcing players to think on their feet and plan their strategy only when the helicopter doors are opened.

Unlike the rest of PUBG's maps though, Paramo is a seasonal match exclusive for Season 9 only. This means it'll be played in a separate TPP Squads playlist without bots or ranks for the duration of Season 9 only. Games on the 3x3km map won't count towards your stats, but they will count towards Season 9 missions.

PUBG's new Paramo map is now on the test server

PUBG has a new map on the way, and you can now give it a whirl ahead of Season 9's official launch. Developer PUBG Corporation revealed on its website that Paramo is on the test server alongside all the tweaks and updates that are coming with update 9.1.

PUBG's Paramo map is 3x3 in size, hosts up to 64 players, and changes every time you visit it. The map has a volcano in the stages of erupting so you'll notice streams of lava in different places each time you drop in. Paramo also has more map hazards. If you're outside of the blue zone, you'll receive more damage in comparison to other maps. You can also find yourself outside of the play zone, which leads to instant death if you hang about for too long. To combat all the new dangers, though, there's a new item called Critical Response Kit that can revive one of your downed teammates in one second.

You'll also notice the presence of support helicopters. Paramo has a high elevation so they'll drop you off and ferry cargo to outside the play area. If you fancy yourself a decent shot, you can gun 'em down and force them to release lootable cargo early.
