Welcome back to PUBG Esports, with the fifth tournament of the PUBG CONTINENTAL SERIES (PCS)!

PUBG CONTINENTAL SERIES 5 is a crucial global event in the PUBG Esports ecosystem, as players fight for precious points required to advance to the PUBG Global Championship later this year.

PCS5 will be held across four regions, with matches beginning on September 16 for the Americas and APAC, followed by Europe and Asia starting on September 18.

[h2]The Prize Pool[/h2]

The PCS5 prize pool starts at 1 million USD, split evenly across the four participating regions. Similar to previous events, 30% of all PCS5 item sales contribute towards the total prize pool via crowdfunding.

In a nutshell:

Each region starts with a base prize pool of 250,000 USD
30% of PUBG's net sales of PCS5 items is shared directly with participating teams

Special Prizes: $20,000
- KILL LEADER ($5,000)
- Prize granted to the player with the most kills

- Prize granted to 4 best performing players in the Series
INSANE SQUAD ($5,000)
- Prize granted to the team which showed the most impressive moment in the Series
Winner of the Special prize will be carefully chosen by the selection group.

It's that time of the year, the best time to play PUBG! Squad up with your buddies and fight for your chicken dinner during the PUBG Free Play Week. Get prepared and don't miss out on the chance to play unlimited PUBG for a whole week!

PUBG is going free-to-play, temporarily (for now)

PUBG, which is apparently now called PUBG: Battlegrounds, is attempting to pull in new players with the K-pop megastars of Blackpink, and the game is going free-to-play for one week in order to sweeten the deal. According to insiders, this might not be a temporary measure, either - one report suggests that the devs are using this free week as a trial run for a proper shift to a free-to-play model.

PUBG's free play week kicks off on August 10, and will last until August 16, according to a new trailer detailing the Blackpink collaboration. Blackpink's going to be all over the game starting on August 8, with a banner on the back of the plane, decals on building sides, and pink smoke pouring out of supply crates. (That's besides all the cosmetics you can buy, of course.) You can get full details on the collab over on Steam.

PUBG "is going to use this F2P week to gauge player responses," prolific leaker PlayerIGN says on Twitter. "They've been trying to go F2P for a while now." PlayerIGN also noted last month that "PUBG originally wanted to go F2P in 2019; but didn't get the player response they wanted from 2019's F2P test."
