LABS: Futsal Mode

Hello Survivors!

LABS is where we experiment with unique and often wholly new PUBG experiences, and this time around is no different. Futsal Mode is all about soccer, with a side of combat, and players who score the most goals will transform into soccer superstar, Premier League player "Sonny" Heung-Min Son!

The Futsal Field has different areas with buffs and weapon spawns, so each player has their own role and place in the team.

Read on for full gameplay details.
Futsal Field
Play Zone
The Buff Zone is created and spawns weapons on a regular basis. When a player enters the Buff Zone, that player consumes the buff automatically.

Make sure to keep an eye out for spawned weapons in Buff Zones, pick them up, and attack your enemies while you fight your way to victory.
  • Buff Area spawn intervals: 30 seconds
  • Buff types
    • Gain 50 HP
    • 1.2x movement speed increase for 15 seconds.
  • Weapon types
    • Frying Pan
    • Sickle
    • Machete
    • Crowbar
    • Sawed-Off + 12 Gauge x2 (spawns at a lower rate but once equipped, it's a surefire way to knock down your opponents)
Penalty Zone
The Penalty Zone plays an important role, as it's both a respawn area and spawns the Shield used to protect your goal.

  • Respawns
    • After death, players respawn in the Penalty Zone and are invincible for three seconds. Players cannot move out of the zone until the invincibility has worn off.
  • The Shield
When a player equipped with the Shield moves out of the Penalty Zone the Shield disappears and a new Shield spawns in the Penalty Zone.
Match Rules
Victory Conditions
  • The team to score more goals by the end of the match will claim victory.
Tied Score
  • In the event of a tie, the match will enter overtime. If scores remain tied after overtime, the winner will be decided by most kills or the team with the MVP.
Format
  • Matches will be played in two five-minute halves, with three minutes of overtime being played automatically if the score is tied after regular time.
    • Matches have 5 seconds of preparation time prior to kick-off
Service Schedule
This round of LABS: Futsal Mode will be open during the following period:

PC & Console
PDT: July 20, 10 PM - August 2, 0 AM
CEST: July 21, 7 AM - August 2, 9 AM
KST: July 21, 2 PM - August 2, 4 PM

  • TPP only
  • Two 4-man squads play against each other (1-man squads not supported)
  • Clear weather
  • No team damage
  • DBNO enabled
    • HP after reviving: 50
  • When respawning after death, players will remain invincible for three seconds
FAQ
How can players control the ball?
  • Move towards the ball and make contact to dribble.
    • The faster you're moving when you make contact, the further the ball will go. Try sprinting at the ball when you want to shoot or make a long pass.
  • You can use melee attacks such as punching to attack opponents.
Are there fouls?
  • No. Feel free to use aggression with your enemies whilst trying to take possession.
  • There are no offsides, lineouts, or handling fouls. Do whatever you want and can to secure the win!
Is there a goalie?
  • We provide a Shield so that one player from each team can defend their goal.
  • The Shield covers a large area and can also be used to push away your opponents! Try to take advantage of this feature when defending.
    • The Shield can be equipped and used only within the penalty area. If you cross the penality line with the Shield equipped, it'll be unequipped automatically.
How do you become Son Heung-min?!
  • The player who scores the most goals during the match can transform into "Sonny", the superhero.
    • For male characters, Son's face, hair, and uniform are applied. For female characters, face and hair remain the same.
    • If someone else takes the lead, they will then become Son Heung-min.
  • Once you transform into Son, you benefit from a full boost with an extra speed increase until the end of the match.
Notes When Playing in LABS
• LABS games do not provide XP or gameplay rewards
  • LABS gameplay will not be reflected on the Career page
  • LABS gameplay will not count towards Survivor Pass missions
  • LABS gameplay does not provide BP or additional rewards

Castlevania anime showrunner is now adapting PUBG for screen

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds doesn't seem to lend itself to an animated screen adaptation, but it's happening anyway, and Castlevania producer and showrunner Adi Shankar is working on it. Krafton announced as much today, with Shankar tasked with creating and showrunning the animated project, which doesn't appear to have a network or streaming service attached to it as yet...

PUBG is getting an "animated project" from Castlevania's Adi Shankar

PUBG - or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, if you're all fancy-like - is the latest big gaming IP to get the animated show treatment. Publisher Krafton has just revealed that its flagship battle royale game is getting an "animated project" which will be created and showrun by the executive producer of Netflix's Castlevania show.

There's no word on exactly what this animated project will be just yet, but Krafton does reveal that Adi Shankar will be taking the helm in a press release on the PUBG site. Shankar has previously worked on feature films such as Killing Them Softly (which starred Brad Pitt), Dredd (Karl Urban), The Voices (Ryan Reynolds), The Grey (Liam Neeson), and others. He also has an "Andy Warhol-inspired, award-winning, unauthorised video street art series, The Bootleg Universe, where he reimagines and subverts pop culture iconography".

It turns out Shankar's a long-time fan and player of PUBG, too. "As a player, I've been crushing the competition in the Battlegrounds since PUBG released in 2017," he says in the release.

End of Ranked Season 12 and Rewards Announcement

Hello Survivors!

After weeks of fierce competition on the Battlegrounds, the Season 12 Ranked Season is soon coming to an end, with just a few short weeks remaining. Drop in, gear up, and secure those rewards!

Ranked rewards will be distributed to all eligible players on August 4th on PC and August 12th on Consoles once server maintenance is complete. Read on for full details on the Season 12 Ranked rewards.
HONOR BASED REWARDS
Since Ranked Season 11, additional focus was placed on your most recent Ranked achievements, with honor-based rewards such as nameplates and emblems now only available to display for the duration of the new season.

We hope this encourages players to continue their ranked progression while also adding a little more prestige to those hard-earned rewards each season.

Ranked in-game cosmetics, such as parachute skins, etc., will remain available to use throughout all seasons.

Players who reach the highest ranks will receive additional rewards, such as animated nameplates and emblems to make the grind just a little sweeter.
  • At the beginning of Season 13, all eligible players will be granted their Season 12 rewards, including nameplates/emblems available for the duration of the season.
  • Honor-based rewards from Season 12 will be removed from the inventory with the start of next season.
SEASON 12 RANKED MODE REWARDS
Ranked rewards are granted based on your rank at season end. Players who reach at least Gold V will receive the Season 12 Ranked Parachute skin!

Those who fight their way to Platinum or higher will also be rewarded with a unique Animated Emblem. Master or higher players will also receive an Animated Nameplate.

The Top 500 players from each region will receive a unique Top 500 Animated Emblem and Animated Nameplate to show their status as world-beaters. Top 500 players will be displayed in-game on the LEADERBOARD.

Finally, view all your Season 12 Rankedstats by checking out the STATS screen under the CAREER tab in-game once the season wraps up.
  • SEASON 12 EMBLEM & NAMEPLATES
    • Players who played at least 10 Ranked Matches will earn an emblem and nameplate matching their end-of-season rank.
    • Platinum Tier and above receive an Animated Ranked Emblem.
    • Master Tier and above receive an Animated Nameplate.
    • Top 500 players are rewarded with a Unique Animated Emblem and Nameplate.
    • Honor-based emblems will now be shown on your PUBG ID and displayed to enemies when you successfully take them out. Emblems will also be visible in the Death Cam and to spectators.
  • SEASON 12 SKIN
    • Players Gold V and above will receive an exclusive Season 12 Ranked Parachute Skin.
UPCOMING RANKED SCHEDULES: SEASON 13
• Season 12 Ranked Mode will end once servers go into maintenance on August 4th KST (PC) / August 12th KST (Console).
  • Season 13 Ranked Mode will begin when servers go live with the live server update next month.
HOW WILL MY REWARDS BE DELIVERED?
All rewards are granted automatically at the beginning of the new season. You may collect them from the pop-up screen shown upon your first log-in of the new season.
CHANGES IN RANKED SEASON 13
If a player with 3,000 RP does not play Ranked for seven days or more, RP and tier demotion will begin, and changes to the demotion standards will occur. Previously, after reaching the Diamond tier or higher at least once during the season, players could maintain their tier and receive high honor rewards without participating in Ranked matches. The purpose of Ranked is to check and improve your skills by constantly competing with others, even if you lose and your RP. Reaching a high tier and obtaining rewards without participating in Ranked is far against the intention of Ranked, which is why we came up with this decision.
  • Ranked Season 12
    • 3,000 RP is the lower limit of demotion.
    • You can maintain Diamond Rank even if you don’t play Ranked for seven days or more.
  • Ranked Season 13
    • RP demotion goes below 3,000 RP.
      • Players with Diamond tier or higher will be deducted 100 RP per day if they do not play Ranked at least once a week.
      • 100 RP deduction per day continues until the player plays Ranked. It stops when it goes below 3,000 RP. This means the deduction stops when you reach Platinum I.
    • Diamond tier cannot be maintained if not participated in Ranked for seven days or more.

Thank you.
