PUBG gets a new way to keep track of live events in-game

There's a new way to keep track of events going on in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, following an update that folds in a handy new in-game feature. Plus, developer Krafton has detailed two new events running in the battle royale game this month.

"Today, we're introducing our newly improved in-game Events Page to showcase ongoing and upcoming events to participate in and earn rewards," Krafton announces in a new blog post. This is a pretty basic but handy feature that lets you browse a list new events going on, and jump into them more easily by hitting a 'participate' option. From the snapshots included in the post, we can see the duration of the event displayed, along with rewards up for grabs (which can only be grabbed while an event's live), and your progress towards goals.

The new Event Page can be found via a 'care package' icon in the right-hand corner of the game's lobby screen, and you'll now see notifications pop up in PUBG's notifications hub when event-related news drops.

PUBG's latest Labs mode looks like a mash-up of Mario Kart and Mad Max

The latest PUBG Labs mode is in, and it'll look familiar if you're a fan of Mario Kart. It's just called Racing Mode for now, but it features everything you'd expect - you pick a vehicle, race your buds to the finish, and pick up power-up boosts and ammo to try and throw them off.

Before you start, you've got to select your vehicle. You've got the motorcycle, buggy, Couple RB, dirt bike, and Mirado. Each of them has its stats, but they've each got a unique weapon, too. You won't be able to attack players or destroy stuff until your ten seconds in, and players who do get taken out will get a five-second grace period to stop them from being eliminated off spawn.

Both race tracks take place on the Miramar map and are one way. You'll need to make your way through checkpoints to progress through the race, and those checkpoints will be your respawn points, too. Oh, and be careful about going off track as you'll blow up if you're gone for too long.

Cheating has been around in video games forever, but the industry's meteoric success over the last few decades has turned it into a genuine side business. Update 12.1 - Now Live!

Update 12.1 has arrived on the Battlegrounds!

We’re excited for you to get your hands on our biggest Miramar update to date! Sweeping changes have been made map-wide, including improved textures and an overhaul to lighting. Major points of interest will still feel familiar but fresh, with adjustments to building interiors and reduced object clutter to enhance ease of movement throughout the map.

Put your marksman skills to work with the armor-piercing Lynx AMR sniper rifle and traverse the updated desert landscape of Miramar on the new Quad off-road vehicle.

We appreciate everyone who had time to play the changes on the test server and graciously offer feedback. Based directly on your feedback, we’ve reduced bloom in certain weather settings to improve visibility.

Please keep the feedback coming; we’ll continue to monitor your feedback closely.

That’s not all; tomorrow we’re adding a new limited-time mode to PUBG LABS – Racing Mode! Check out the Racing Mode announcement to learn more and view the full patch rundown in the patch notes.

See you on the Battlegrounds.
