Classic Flatspace Released

Hello everyone,

Flatspace, the classic first game, has been released today for free.

Like my other Steam releases, the game engine has been updated, and features some new high-resolution graphics for modern computers plus the same controller support as in Flatspace IIk.

The original Flatspace game lacks some of the finesse and gameplay balancing of Flatspace IIk (what, no Machine Gun Ammo??!), but it will allow people, particularly new players, to explore and try the Flatspace universe.

Enjoy playing.

Radioactive, Future Snooker and Future Pool are perfect for the new "Remote Play Together" in Steam, which enables two or more players to enjoy local multiplayer games over the internet. Only one player needs to own the game to play against a friend in this way.

The game is available now for $8.99 USD with a 10% launch discount.

Here's a complete list of the changes:

-New game icon.
-New heading font.
-Slight adjustment to Flatspace IIk title image (and new image for Flatspace II - if that ever gets used).
-Removal of GUI Mouse Sensitivity to match the behaviour in Future Snooker and other contemporary games, pointer now naturally moves more slowly on larger screens.
-New credits text.
-Fix to accented character conversion in text files.
-Intro tunnel ending now synchronised with music as in classic Flatspace.
-The 'Press F1' message appears at the start of each game.
-Players of the same class now start in the same sector (in a fixed or seeded universe).

Some of these changes are in preparation for the free release of the first Flatspace game at the end of January 2020. More details to come.

Flatspace v1.05 Beta Tweaks

Hi All,

A slight update to the new Flatspace beta today. Players of the same class will now start in the same sector. This is similar to how classic Flatspace handled it (well, all games started in the same sector in Flatspace). This adds a familiarity to the start of each game, you get to know the base and place where you start each game, so helps new players acclimatise. Of course, seeded universes (Custom Games) start in a different sector (but still the same for each seed) and random universes start in a random sector.

If everything works, the new update will go public in a few days.
