Nov 19, 2020 Details of the Wood Elves DLC and its release date have now been announced.
It's been a hot minute since we've heard about Creative Assembly's Wood Elves-focused Lord Pack for Total War: Warhammer 2, but we're now closer to a release date. One of the community managers posted an update to the strategy game's forums explaining that it'll be hitting your rigs in December. There's no specific release date yet, but all will be revealed closer to the time.
"We understand you've wanted more information on the upcoming Warhammer 2 DLC release, [but] the working from home situation has made it more difficult for us to keep you as updated as we would have liked," someone from Creative Assembly says. "However, we can now confirm that the DLC will be released in December and we will look to confirm an actual date with you a little closer to the time. We understand the lack of information has been difficult, but we didn't want to confirm a month until we were sure. Hopefully, this will at least give you a month to look forward to."
Creative Assembly revealed in a blog post back in July that Total War: Warhammer 2's next DLC is a Lord Pack that focuses on the Wood Elves. The developer also said it would be revisiting one of the original core races from Warhammer 2.

Nov 19, 2020 Details of the Wood Elves DLC and its release date have now been announced.
We've known for a while that the next Lord Pack for Total War: Warhammer 2 features the Wood Elves, and we know it's due out sometime in December. Developer Creative Assembly has indicated that the new pack is nigh, with a teaser video showing only an arrow stuck in a log in the forest.
That's it: for 45 seconds, we see an arrow with its head stuck in a downed tree, with the camera gradually pulling in and then back out. In the background, a stag gallops through the shrouded forest, and there's the shimmer of the Winds of Magic off in the background on the right side of the frame.
There's not even a title to go on; Creative Assembly uploaded the video to the Total War YouTube channel with ellipses in place of an actual name. But given what we've already heard in the past couple months, this is certainly a teaser for the coming Wood Elf Lord Pack DLC. There's a bit of a complicated process for figuring out what you'll be getting in this Lord Pack, and it's dependent on how much Total Warhammer stuff you already own. We were speculating only yesterday about what a cryptic teaser could mean regarding the upcoming Warhammer 2 Wood Elves expansion. Seems we didn't actually have long to wait, because Creative Assembly has just announced the next Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC in the form of The Twisted & The Twilight Lords Pack.
This expansion pits the Wood Elves of Athel Loren against the Skaven monstrosities of Clan Moulder. Sweaty elf mains will be leading the Sisters of Twilight, while ratty bois can enjoy the company of Throt The Unclean as the new legendary lords. Queen Ariel of Athel Loren and some scrub named Ghoritch complete the party as the new legendary hero units.
The two new factions will come with their own mini-campaigns featuring unique mechanics and missions, and will be playable in both the Eye of the Vortex and the Mortal Empires game modes. Across the two newcomers are an additional nine unit types - including Elf knights on giant stags and Mutant rat ogres - and six regiments of renown. Throt's unique mechanic is the Flesh Laboratory, which allows you to grow, augment, and change existing units or grow brand-new ones. Those ratmen with spoons for hands not doing it for you? Recycle them for parts and start again!
