Add some extremely red and mad daemons to Total War: Warhammer 2

Total War: Warhammer II has been pretty good about giving us new units to march into battle, but you know what's missing? Demons, that's what. Fortunately, now you can whip together a formation of Bloodletters of Khorne and set about collecting some of that blood for the blood god. You might even throw in a couple skulls - you know, for his throne.

Bálint's Bloodletters of Khorne mod adds Khorne's reddest, maddest daemonic infantry boys to Total War: Warhammer II, and you can recruit them in either the Mortal Empires campaign playing as Chaos, or use them in multiplayer battles. Either way, they're hard to miss: Bálint has painted them a vibrant red, accented with lolling purple tongues, black horns, and Hellblade swords glowing with the fires of Chaos.

In the tabletop game, Bloodletters have Locus of Fury, which buffs nearby lesser daemons. At full unit strength, they also get +1 bonuses to attack rolls. Bálint has given them Armour-Piercing and Anti-Infantry bonuses, with a debuff to rampage. They have 25 armour, 70 leadership, 42 speed, a magical melee attack of 55, melee defence of 40, an enhanced weapon strength of 42, and a 25 charge bonus.

The best Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC

With Total War Warhammer II Creative Assembly seemed to take a more cautious approach. Even two years after it originally launched, there'd only been a couple of larger expansions and Lord packs, but in recent years the team have settled into a more regular cadence as we await the inevitable Warhammer 3 announcement.

But one thing's for sure - they didn't want to flood the game with DLC post-launch like they've done for previous titles (although not Warhammer 1 either, now that we think about it). It definitely took a while for it to finally cross the threshold for us to make one of our DLC guides.

As it is, there's probably only a few Lords Packs left for Warhammer II before Creative Assembly shift focus on to the next game, which has reportedly been in pre-production since 2018 but not formally announced. While we wait for the next known lord pack, which will be focused on the Wood Elves, here's everything you need to know about Total War: Warhammer II's DLC and expansions, should you wish to expand your Warhammer II experience.

The best Total War: Warhammer 2 mods

Total War has always been a series which has attracted modders, and the Warhammer 2 mod scene is thriving as a result of this long legacy. It's also benefit from the fact that in Total Warhammer, Creative Assembly committed to a single consecutive series of games rather than individual games from select time periods. Not to mention supporting that idea through their inter-game (and biggest ever) grand campaign, Mortal Empires.

This represents a unique opportunity for modders, who can now create ongoing content spanning a whole trilogy, as well as drawing from the extensive lore of Warhammer Fantasy to introduce game elements that CA may never have the chance to due to time, money etc.

Total War: Warhammer's modding community is, at its heart, a collaborative effort, as creators work together, adding hundreds of hours of replayability to the series, while also working to realise the in-game fantasy world. Below, we've assembled a list of our favourite mods. Some add simple quality of life changes, while some - like the massive SFO - are drastic overhauls that affect nearly every aspect of the game.

There's an unspoken agreement among Total War: Warhammer 2 players that the warpstone-huffing, warpstone-sniping, doomwheel-riding Clan Skyre got all the best toys, while all the other flavours of rat pal got their friendly pink noses rubbed in the dirt and told to deal with it. Well, the snuffly bin-lickers aren't taking it anymore, and neither is modder GreyTiger. The Plagues of the Liber Bubonicus grants an Ikit Claw-style workshop to Clan Pesitlens in both Vortex and Mortal Empires campaigns, giving rat fanciers access to upgrades for clan-specific units.

The new mod "allows the player to spend food and a new warpstone gas resource to upgrade Clan Pestilens specific units," says GreyTiger. "The units affected are Plague Monks, Censer Bearers, Plagueclaw Catapults, and a new unit: Scourge Sentinels. Each unit type supports three tiers of upgrades with each tier costing more food and warpstone gas than the last."

The new mechanics, says GreyTiger, aren't necessarily intended as a complete overhaul. Instead, the modder aims to make Clan Pestilens campaigns more interesting, giving them a fresh injection of fragrant verminous flavour.
