The Carnival is in town! Largest update ever!

CARNIVAL is Here! Largest Update Ever!
Update #007 - Version: V0.953

Carnival is Here! Come get your worthless trinkets and under-stuffed rip-off plush toys! Who doesnt love warm summer nights and getting haggled at by some crusty carnival worker for overpriced junk. :) Step Right Up!

I hope the carnival brings back as many wonderful memories for you as it did for us making it. This one was about 6 years in the making. (Literally) I have been dreaming this carnival up since I was a wee lad. Ever since I started making video games I have imagined this carnival and the silly games that I could create. It feels great to get it completed and share it all with you. :)

Islandtime Amusements Traveling Carnival:
- 8 new interactive carnival booth games with robotic workers.
- 15+ new carnival inspired toys/prizes to win and barter with at Barrys or to keep on your shelf at home. You decide.
- 7 classic carnival rides to make you sick and feel like your flying at your desk.
- Lots of new silly characters to interact with that work for Islandtime Amusements.

UPDATE 7-1-2019: Pushed a small hot fix for the Carnival coin pushers, The bus loading system and parked semi colliders.

UPDATE 7-9-2019: Pushed another small update to fix some small bugs.
- Fixed the colliders in the Hockey Hut that was eating some of your wins.
- Changed the exiting of vehicles. You must now Hit the Exit Vehicle button/key. (E Key on the Keyboard and Y button on a generic controller.) no more having to take out the player card.
- Turned the BasketBall announcer down a bit. He was all fired up and yelling at everyone.
- Turned off the cursor controller and the ability to grab things and push buttons while in the golf cart. It was just causing all kinds of problems. No more drive thru service. haha
- Readjust the freebie dropper at the carnie coin pusher as it was putting items in un-winnable locations.

Elephant Ears:

Lemonade Stand:

Other bug fixes and Notes:

- Added 6 New Achievements for riding the carnival rides and playing the carnival games.
- Fixed a bunch of audio menu bugs were it would reset the menu click sound and blow your ear drums out. oops.
- Option to turn off the leaderboards in game. You can always turn them On or Off from the options menu in game.
- Fixed the wiggling bots crisis when you got close to them. No. They were not scared of you... just broken.
- Fixed Treasure in the Sand as it was displaying a wrong price on the Menu.
- Fixed the Arcade Coins falling onto the floor of arcade.
- fixed the hoverboard kids mouth on the side of their faces...lol.
and a bunch of other little stuff that will make gameplay a little smoother.

Now I am going to take a couple days off and I think I know of a good carnival across town the wife and I will go do some more "research". ;)

Thank you again for supporting me and my wife on this amazingly fun journey. This is the best community we have ever been involved with and we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to make this game for you.

I will post more news and info about the coming Survivor Mode, Donnies Dump, UFO Arcade and even more silliness coming later down the road.... but for now go and enjoy the summer carnival. Uncle Phils orders!

Kevin

One last teaser for the carnival rides and games. It's almost done!

Ok. The carnival has taken me much longer than I expected. I feel like I have said that before. haha

So many little things that tie up a whole day and then before I know it, I have to sleep again. I liked the idea some of the users had about getting a clone of myself.

I will keep it short and sweet with a video of my progress and get right back to working. ;) (Plus Motocross is on today... :) )

As always THANKS SO MUCH for supporting The Coin Game. I could not do this without all of your support, wonderful ideas and beta testing.

Kevin

See you soon at the Carnie!

KABOOOM! Fireworks, fuel, robo friends and refresh of ALL leaderboards!

Update #006
Version: V0.943

TITLE: KABOOOOOOM! New robo friends, fireworks, eye candy, fixed leaderboards, cart fuel burning physics and much more.

Over the past 30 days I have touched almost every aspect of the game tweaking and fixing the little things that make big differences to enjoyment and flow of the game. I also threw in a bunch of new stuff to have a bunch of fun with.

Here is a short Vid of the new update.... Enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI7fvfXAJkM

LEADERBOARDS:

- Fixed the leaderboards not updating at Larry's Arcade and also made it so you have to pick up your tickets that you just won from each machine. After the game is over the the ticket dispenser will drop your tickets right in front of the machine. (obviously only if you won some silly). You then have to pick them up (F KEY) and take them to the ticket eater before you can spend them. There is no way that Larry is counting all those tickets for you. Not for $8.25 an hour anyway.

- I also had to RESET all leaderboards and all save game files. I am very sorry BUT this had to be done for the early access version as things are always changing and I am adding new content. They may reset again in the future as I change the way that the leaderboards are calculated. (ie; best single game and not most played. Its not fair if someone plays all day..... So I am working on that along side of the new leaderboards for the other locations. But look on the brightside if you are reading this early you can get that screen grab of you topping the charts and share it around the watercooler tomorrow at lunch break. Huh huh? Right?

FIREWORKS:

- Added a new fireworks stand at the beach across from the bus stop. Its run by a cool old dude named Frankie. He is an old vet that loves his pyrotechnics, Rhonda (His Lady Friend), baseball and freedom. He shows you all the "good stuff" without even having to ask and he never asks for an ID. Roman Candles, extra large bottle rockets, 16 shot mortar bricks and of course some of them new hip smoke bombs that are all the rage on the interwebs. So save up that money and put on a show for the locals. They will love you for it.

You light the fireworks with the right click button. After enjoying the splendor of the boom and bangs you can even get .50 cents for some of them at Barry's Pawn shop/recycler machine. The bottle rockets can be pretty hard to find after sending them into space though. lol.

GOLF CART:

- Added a fuel burning system to the golf cart. You now have to buy fuel from Jerrys Gas and Go with your cash. You can purchase it in a single can or a 5 pack of cans from the pumps in front of Jerry's. Jerry's is still out of the RACE FUEL but I heard that stuff will make the golf cart sing. He said he doesn't know when it will be in stock again but he said it should be around the same time the Carnies come to town.

- To fill the golf cart with fuel you simply purchase a can from Jerry's (available in single or 5 packs) and then set it next to the driver side of the cart. You can see the gas cap on the side with the steering wheel. Once you have the can in position, right click on the can and it will autofill into the cart. The cart fuel tank holds about 5-6 cans(Approx 6.5 Gallons). Currently the carburetor on the golf cart is pretty clogged and its getting REALLY bad gas mileage. Later in the future Jerry should be able to help you get a little more oouummmfff outta of her. But for now he is really busy working on the vintage trucks from the carnie thats coming into town soon.

CURSORS:

- I added a new ICON cursor system that will be the base framework for the ability to "use" items in the future. For now you can only "Use" the gas/fuel can when refueling the Golf cart. But in the future this will be how you will interact with "tools"and "objects" to perform more tasks and jobs to earn money. Earning loot the old fashioned way will be a big part of the coming survivor mode. It's not all fun and games when Uncle Phil's not greasing the pockets of ol'Islandville. Your going to have to get those hands dirty working odd jobs to earn your keep if you want to enjoy all the fun things the island has to offer.

BOTS:

- Added a bunch of NPC bots to the main areas of town and a couple other random areas throughout the island. The robots will get more and more interactive as EA development goes on. For now they are just cruising around doing some errands and testing their navigation systems.

- Added a few Character bots to the Main locations.
- Jerry @ Jerry's Gas and Go
- Barry @ Barry's Pawn Shop (With his lady friend money counting helper)
- Frankie @ Frankie's Quality Fireworks Stand (With his lady friend Rhonda and her kid)

- Added some bots to the bus to give it a little life when you are riding around town. In the future I might want to make them get on and off the bus and transport around town.... But for now the bots will remain in there main "areas".

- Added a bus Driver and made the front doors not open anymore as you cannot board the bus from there anyway. The front doors will be how the bots get on and off in the future. Prob should have made that a little more clear. lol.

VISUALS:

- Added some volumetric lighting to a bunch of the lights around the island. Mainly the flashlight, headlights on the cars and the Streetlights. As a kid I had to be home when the streetlights came on... So I spent a LOT of time staring at them. haha. Still adjusting these suckers. They can be pretty picky and will look overblown in some areas and not others. Again, Still tuning em.

- Changed a bunch of optimization and lighting settings for the outside world and gained quite a few frames per second. About another 10-15% increase all around. Also gained some frames inside all the buildings.

- Loading time should be a bit quicker as I am loading the audio a new way to help. This should help on some of the smaller GPUs.

- Added a new full moon with a "night light" sky for all the scaredy cats out there. It will give the open areas a little bit more light to see what you are doing but still remain a little spooky for the wooded and non lit areas. I also spiced up the campfires and tents with a little flicking realistic glow, volumetric lighting and some shadows.

- Added new simple water visuals to all the water surfaces with reflections and some blur effects for "underwater" cameras. I do not plan on adding any water physics (buoyancy) to any objects for now. you can just walk into the water for now and hold your breath for unlimited time... but don't get too used to that. ;)

- Teddy spruced up the stage show a little bit in the VIP Birthday area with some smoke machines and lasers plus a couple old folks reading the paper. The band has been doing well so they blew some coin on some stage equipment. Barry gave him a sweet deal on it.

OTHER:

- Audio Options menu will now update right away as it was not setting the audio from the previous round settings. Your settings should carry over from game to game now. Feel free to tune those peskie idiots out now. Very sorry for the confusion.

KNOWN ISSUES:
- Sometimes you can get stuck on the bus while exiting. Click the exit button twice as a workaround.
- MEGA Drop is still not completely redone. Will scam you out of some tickets every now and then from a timing issue.
_ You can still mess up the game by grabbing things out of the golf cart with the inventory button. For now try to make it a habit of removing them from the cart first and then putting them into your inventory.

SUMMARY:

That's about all for this update..... Now I am full steam ahead on the Carnival and the beta survivor mode. Stay tuned.

Thanks again for supporting The Coin Game. I can not thank you all enough for helping me create this game. I am very honored and excited to have this opportunity to build this adventure with all of you.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to give you some news on the progress of the"Pier Carnival" area. The Carnival has truly come to life in the past weekend. Thank you all for your support and inspiration as it really makes all the difference. As you are reading this, the video and photos are already old news & bare bones to what I have cooking. The new carnival will include roughly seven rides, five carnie games, two new food booths, a dozen new carnie inspired prizes & some fireworks of course. I got the new "ride ticket" system counting and working with the smartwatch and I have finished up some new icons and images for all the new prizes and goodies.

Last week I completed more bot characters, the carnie layout, framework for new games, optimized the outdoors and created food booths. Now, This week I am focusing on the on the bumper cars, other carnie rides and more sounds with a special guest DJ.

Thank you again and check back often for more news.

Kevin

Show and Tell day!

I just thought I would take a few minutes to show all of you the next "area" coming to The Coin Game. A Traveling Carnival.

It is not yet complete but I have been working non stop on it for the last few weeks. I even worked right through my birthday.....lol. I am having so much fun building and reminiscing about all the old fun times I had as a kid at the local traveling carnie that would come to my small town.

As a youngster my family was always involved in the local Scouting programs and we would help cook and prepare all the food they would sell. This gave me as a young boy the full all access view of the carnival setting up and meeting all the traveling workers. Seeing all the shady rides and the workers scrambling to unfold them from a rusty old semi always interested me. The large game and beer tents would pop up all over a empty field and it was game on. But it wasn't until the night would fall and then the real magic would begin. Scrambling from game to game with your last 2 dollars under all the bright lights with friends to gather as many junk prizes as possible to take home and put in the trash in a month. Oh man, I am rambling but you can almost smell the elephant ears now.... I better get back to work.

I am still finishing up the physics and prize systems for the new carnie "game booths" and should be close to finished in about 2-3 weeks. The next update will literally DOUBLE the size of the current game and has a TON of new stuff coming. Im soooooo excited to show you all.

Thanks again for supporting The Coin Game. Ill see you all very soon on the Tilt-A-Whirl.

Kevin

NOTE:
Once this update is out I will be going back and completely redoing a few of the arcade machines and all of the leaderboards points systems prior to survival mode. I thought it was more important to get some of the new locations and features out before I go back and fix some stuff that will change in the future. I hope that makes sense. haha.
