Griftlands review

Games have always been looking for ways to make conversations as compelling as the combat. Why can't a tense negotiation feel as gripping as a tough-as-nails boss fight? That’s the question Griftlands seeks to answer. It makes for a compelling roguelike, thanks to great writing and characters, but doesn't quite live up to the promise of its chatty deck-building systems...

Hey Grifters,

This is a small update that brings the fixes and tweaks from the experimental branch to release.
This update:

  • Improves the gamepad experience, and improves readability on small screens
  • Fixes some lingering bugs and progression blockers
  • Improves the completeness of the translations.

You can find the detailed patch notes on our forum.

Thanks for playing! And thanks for all of the in-game feedback reports. They really do help us find and fix issues!

Experimental Update

Hey Grifters,

Wow! that's a lot of feedback!
We've been working on some fixes and improvements these past two weeks, and we're ready to share them with you in the experimental branch.

The big points here are:
  • Improved gamepad support.
  • Better UI clarity in the scaled-up modes.
  • Update translations for the in-progress languages.
  • Fixing some edge cases in some quests.

We'll be iterating a bit with this stuff on the experimental branch for the next couple days, and then pushing it onto the release branch as an update. Thanks for all of the F8s!
You can see a full list of changes over on our forums.

Please keep in mind that your save files on the experimental branch are separate from those on release - you'll need to switch back to release to continue.

Klei's sci-fi deckbuilder Griftlands has left early access

Exploring backwater planets, recruiting pals and making important decisions that could come back to haunt you - I could be talking about Mass Effect, but I promise I'm not (this time). These are the sorts of things you can get up to in Klei Entertainment's Griftlands, which has now left early access. It's a brilliant deckbuilding roguelite that pits you against enemies in battles of the mind (to negotiate tough situations) or battles of the, uh, body (shooty shooty), as you follow the stories of three characters on a dingy sci-fi world.
